Diagon Alley runs along a crooked, narrow street. Along the North Side, of course, are the shopfronts. Large glass windows display hot items, special objects, advertise for sales, and encourage people to come in. The path is incredibly tight and overhangs of buildings on either side threaten to touch the building across from it. People walk packed together, as they try to maneuver around groups of people, vending carts, and holes in the cobble road. Be careful of doors opening so that you don’t walk into them by accident.
Outside the Leaky Cauldron entrance is a large, outlandish fountain which threatens to take up the walk. Once one gets around the fountain, the path tightens and the surge of people begins. Bump, jostle, and nudge people as you move around – it's okay, really. Balconies and overhangs create a bright array of color as one meanders down the street. The noise level is cluttered – yelling comes from the hawkers, from the food vendors, from people calling to one and other. Much like a festival, the atmosphere is nearly tangible; electric and festive. Don’t forget to close your eyes and breathe in. Popcorn, kebabs, soup, bread; so many food smells fill the air with a pungent scent.

I'm sure my Gram would love to have some company over." And they meant it, too. It could be nice to have someone besides family over—liven the place up a bit.
Quinn wasn't sure if Aria fully got it—she had no details, so that's not her fault—but they appreciated the sentiment anyway. "Thank you, Aria. I'll keep that in mind," they smiled. They didn't really have many people outside of their family to talk to right now, so it might be nice. For another time. And then Quinn let out a real chuckle. "Well, I do hope so. I don't need to be spoilt, I guess, but it would be nice," they shrugged.
"Ah, well, I made this." Quinn held out their arms to show off their purple and black cardigan. "When I'm knitting I like to do sweaters, cardigans, anything cozy, really. If I'm sewing I love doing a nice pair of pants. I've made some dresses, but...well, I don't really wear them out." Quinn loved making big dresses—weeks long projects that turned out lovely, but didn't end up being worn. They were fit for a princess, but Quinn would look a bit strange wearing a ballgown down the street. Not many balls to wear them to. They had about three of them now, sitting in their room. Sometimes when they were feeling a bit down, they would go in the closet and throw one on just to feel pretty. Quinn perked up a bit at Aria's invitation. "Oh. Well..." They weren't doing anything at the moment, and they were having a lovely chat. "If I wouldn't be too distracting, then sure," they said with a smile.
Quinn had every right not to believe Aria. Just because she was more than capable of taking care of herself {not to mention the excellent support system behind her}, it didn’t mean she knew how to slow down and smell the roses when her mind was fixated on a project. Rest and relaxation would come after her new goal was proverbially wrapped up in a giant, purple bow. “But I would LOVE that,’’ Aria exclaimed enthusiastically. “Your grandma and I could swap as many stories as she wants, until she’s tired of me and shoos me from the house.” This young woman had load of exciting tales that could regale anyone.
Aria most likely did not get the full picture but that was okay for now, right? If she ever got those details later down, she would continue to do her best to understand it all and to help Quinn as best as she could. “No problem! What are friends for?” Did Quinn know that what they wanted could be found in friendship too? “It definitely is nice being spoilt. All you need is a good friend, not necessarily a romantic partner.” Because relationships were just… *insert barf face*
“You did?” Aria’s eyes widened, impressed to the max as she closely surveyed the cardigan. “My dearest, dearest Quinn, your creation is absolutely gorgeous! How long did it take you to do this?” The cardigan was so well done that she thought it might have taken some time; unless Quinn had mastered making cardigans. “Impressive. You know I’d love seeing some of your other work. This is even further motivation to drop by at your place soon.” She was always on the lookout for new talent. “Shush. It’s definitely not going to be distracting. Shall we, then? You can tell me more about your knitting adventures while we browse.”

It had been a very productive shopping day for Lux and she was rather pleased with herself. She had managed to get all the potions supplies she was running low on. She had also managed to get everything she needed to maintain her greenhouse. Aurora's as well since she wasn't able to keep up with that while she was at school.
Now she was planning to go to the Leaky to get herself something to eat before heading home and getting back to work. Full bags in hand, she made her way over... when suddenly one of her bags ripped and supplies fell everywhere, scattering around the street.
Walking out of the QQS shop with his younger brother JT asked as he glanced sideways. "Where do you want to go now Harvs? The candyshop or the menagerine?" He knew that they had to meet their mother in an hour at Madam Malkins to buy new robes and other accessories for the both of them. JT hated clothed shopping, but knew it was something he had to endure given that all his hogwarts clothes were getting too short.
The memory of the razor kit that had been placed next to his toothbrush in the bathroom the other day still gave him pause though. Did JT really have enough facial hair for it to be shaved like daddy and grandpa did everyday? "What are you most excited for? Getting a wand or getting new books?" JT wondered trying his best to distract himself buy focusing on his brother that was soon starting Hogwarts with him and KT.

Quality Quidditch Supplies never failed to be epic! Harv had been quite reluctant to leave, wanting to continue admiring the broomsticks and the latest team memorabilia. He was quite certain if he had a little dramatic meltdown, JT would have let him stay a little longer. However, Harv was, for some reason, determined to be mature instead and departed the shop when his brother said they should. Not that he needed to be mature, of course.
Harvey shrugged. “I’m not sure.” He thought for a moment. “Not the sweet shop for sure.” The soon to be Hogwartian was as nonchalant as possible but it wasn’t on purpose. It was just the mood that had settled over him. “Wand for sure,’’ the boy continued, his tone now picking up the enthusiasm that had been present while at QQS. “How many tries did it take you to find your fit, JT? I hope I don’t take forever; I don’t think I would have the patience.”

QQS was a shop that JT like his little brother could and would spend hours in without problem if they didn't have a schedule to keep up with. Harvs had a broom, and the new flight goggles and quidditch gloves JT had bought for Harvs as a starting hogwarts present would fit nicely with his robes when they got to Hogwarts, and Harvs could tryout for new his house team. JT really hoped that Harvs would get sorted into Slytherin with him but he'd be thrilled for Harvey not matter what house the hat sorted him into. "All right, let's go to the pet shop first, and then we'll see if you want some candy, how does that sound? Got any idea if you want a cat, rat or toad?"
JT sensed that Harvs was in a thoughtful mood and he let him be. His little bro would tell him what was on his mind eventually. Smiling at the memory of when he got his own wand JT shared "It took two tries to find my wand if I recall correctly. Luckily I didn't set fire to anything like another student did when I and dad was there in the wand shop." The shopkeeper seemed used to it though so he didn't panic, just put the fire out and gave the other student another wand to try. "What I felt took the longest was when the measuring tape did its thing. It even measured the length between my nostrils doesn't that sound weird?"

Harvey was deeply grateful for JT and his thoughtfulness of getting him all the Quidditch gear. He didn’t say much beyond ‘thank you, I appreciate it’ but he knew he would treasure those for as long as he possibly could. As for being Sorted into Slytherin as well, Harv would like nothing better, but even if he wasn’t… well, it wasn’t the end of the world. Right? “Sounds good, but I can’t promise about wanting sweets.” Harvey didn’t mean to be a spoil sport; it was just that he was comfortable expressing his feelings to JT. “I haven’t really thought about it. Do I really have to get a familiar this time around?”
It wasn’t that he was opposed to securing a familiar, he mused, as he stuffed a fist in a pocket It was more like he wasn’t sure what he wanted. Definitely not a Jarvey, even if he was allowed to have one at school. The boy was jolted out of his thoughts as his fingers closed around something cool to the touch. Bewildered, he withdrew his hand and the item. Realisation had his smiling in delight. It was the necklace his father had given him sometime back: it had a key in the shape of a Quidditch goal hoop. So that’s where he had stashed it! Harvey had thought he lost it, and after some time of looking, had given up and temporarily forgotten about the keepsake. He was quite relieved to have found it now.
“Was the other student hurt? Aside from that… fire… wow.” Harvey was now musing out aloud as he hooked the necklace around his neck. His tone was easy to decipher: he was impressed with the fire. “I’ve heard about that tape. It sounds silly, measuring between your nostrils. Did it measure any other part of your face?”

You could never have enough quidditch gear in JT's opinionm and he knew that Harvey just like him would wear his gear until they broke or were just worn out. It would be exciting and nervous to see his little brother on the first night back at school get sorted into a house. If Harvs didn't get sorted into Slytherin then it was a pity but not the end of the world. All the houses were great after all. Laughing JT held up his hands in defeat. "Fine, if you really don't want sweets we don't need to buy any sweets Harvs." They had droobles blowing gum there JT remembered, but he couldn't on this instant remember if his little brother liked them or not.
Thoughtfully JT considerd Harvey's question. "I guess you don't need to get a familiar this time around if you really don't want one. It's your choice. You are always welcome to borrow my rat or jarvey if you get homesick at school." JT had just thought that since it stood on the supply list everyone would want to bring a familiar with them to school but, Harvey was Harvey. JT watched as his little brother donned on his quidditch hoop necklace before reassuring. "The student wasn't injured at all. The fire was small, and easily put out with a water spell." Plus his father had shielded him from the fire. Nodding JT grinned "Yes, the tape measures your whole face from the length of your ears to the width of your nose. The only thing it didn't measure was the length of my tongue." That would have been so gross, and weird too.

Harvey was now wondering if JT would be terribly disappointed if he chose to focus mainly on Gobstones instead of Quidditch. After all, there was some influence of the former sport in the family as well. Presently, the little guy was undecided, and he kept the inward battle to himself. For now. “Sweets are bad for your teeth, anyway,’’ he spoke up before sticking his tongue out in jest. He truly loved spending all the time in the world with JT.
As the conversation continued, Harvey fell silent. It occurred to him that there were so many things that he was unsure of and truthfully, it now began to worry him. “I’d have to get special permission to take a Jarvey to Hogwarts, wouldn’t I? But you know I’m not that big on Jarveys, JT…” Merlin forbid anyone calling him ‘Harvey Jarvey’ or something similar. “I dunno…” Harvey toyed with the hoop on his necklace. “I can’t make up my mind about loads of stuff. Does that mean something’s wrong with me? You always seem to have it all together.” Did that mean JT had some advice for him?
“Oh, that’s great. It would have been a pity if they were hurt.” That experience of getting one’s wand would have been horribly marred. He shook his head now at the silliness of the measuring tape at Ollivander’s. “So very weird. I’m just picturing it measuring the circumference of each of your nostrils.”
