| | |  Armour Gallery
 Adjacent to the Trophy Room is a long corridor where numerous polished suits of armour are on exhibit. This collection of armour has been through a lot over the centuries that the school has been in existence, granted they don't look like it for not a single scratch can be found. If you know your history well enough, you'll be able to easily imagine the circumstances that these suits endured. The weapons they are holding say enough.
Should you decide that you want to examine the armour closely, please do so with caution. Yes, being able to see your reflection in them can come in handy from time to time. Nevertheless, they are known to move because someone's cat has managed to climb inside or, even worse, Peeves has decided to play a practical prank on anyone who happens to walk by and will chase after them, swords and spiked balls on chains swinging. Other than that, the clanky metal should remain quite stationary until they are summoned for battle in a time when Hogwarts is in need of additional protection.

For the first couple of weeks, Beatrice had focused on figuring out the routes to get to each lesson. No matter how many times the staff at Stemp House had described the place to her, the castle was somehow even bigger than she had ever imagined. It seemed easy to get lost in, so it also seemed like a good idea to stick to the same paths her classmates took to the lessons. She didn't have everything perfectly memorized, but she had a pretty good start.
But now, she really wanted to explore a little. And her wanderings had led her to this place with a ton of suits of armor.
Hmmmm. Was there...anything magical about them? Or were they just normal, stationary suits of armor?
Bea studied one of them off to the side, looking up and down, scanning for any movement. Nothing so far.
But what if she touched it?
She reached out her hand and veeeery gently gave one of the arms a tap with her finger.

She was, of course, already equipped with the stories from the members of her family, but there was nothing better and more certain than first-hand experience. As long as she was on top of her homework, which she had already done in advance, she allowed herself time to explore and to memories each main hallway.
She thought the armour gallery would have been one of her favourite places. Something about being surrounded by so much history. But her past visits there had led Bisan to start thinking the armours were probably boring. She was going to give it a few last chances to prove its worth, though. She was nice that way.
Just as she was about to turn into the corridor with the armour, Bisan stopped herself from walking all the way through when she noticed a girl who looked like her roommate being... touchy.
Hm.
Bisan continued to observe from the short but safe distance. Was something going to happen? Will this be the day the armour gallery proved her wrong for dumping it into the boring list?
"Is that allowed?" Not that it mattered, but it was a crucial question to ask. For the reaction.

Oh, it was her roommate. It hadn't been the suit of armor after all. That was good. Maybe? Actually, maybe a talking suit of armor would be cool.
"Um- Well, there's no sign saying it's not," she said quickly, maybe a little more defensively than she intended. It wasn't like she was in trouble. Right? Her roommate wouldn't try to rat her out to a professor, would she? NOT that she'd done anything wrong anyway. If there was no sign specifically saying not to touch, then surely that meant no one was worried about it. "I just wanted to see if they were magical," she added, glancing back at the suit she had poked. Nothing had changed about it; it was as motionless as a statue.

Bisan wasn't sure if her roommate's reaction satisfied her. She had expected something more... unsubtle. There's something to be learned about managing expectations here, considering she didn't know much about her roommate yet other than her name. Beatrice Porter. Miss Porter formally in class.
As soon as her eyes met her roommate's, Bisan put on a smile. It's polite.
"It ought to be magical." the Hufflepuff said in response. "I refuse to believe they're just a bunch of metal in a wizarding school." Bisan knew the armours were used during the wizarding war to defend the castle, so she had basis for her belief. But was that it? Did they only serve a single purpose?
If the armour could do a shimmy right now, Bisan would give it a rest. In fact, it would have amused her if it did - to know she wasn't wasting her time here. "I have been here many times. All they do is gather dust." Poor house elves.
