Lower Levels The lower levels of the Ministry of Magic serve as a home to the Department of Magical Games and Sports, the Atrium, the Department of Mysteries, and the Courtrooms. There is also rumored to be an Underground Coffee Club hidden somewhere on Level 10.

Default Lower Level Stairwells & Corridors

Coming from the elevators you are greeted by long, tiled corridors with identical, arched walls on either side. Peculiar how the Ministry seemed to become more and more labyrinthine the deeper you descend, doesn't it? Some of the corridors are interconnecting passages which leads into themselves. If one doesn’t work on the lower levels they would most often find themselves confused and ending up back to where they started—which is usually by the elevators or if one is lucky nearby the ominous black door that takes you to the Entry Chamber of the Department of Mysteries. Other corridors lead you towards stairwells that guide you upwards or downwards to the next level of the Ministry. There is also a bit of a rogue golden snitch from the Department of Magical Games & Sports that is known to make its appearance here, but fear not for the department heads are well aware and the Minister finds the golden gleam adds a certain charm to it all.

Because these lower levels level houses a highly confidential department of the Ministry, the entire area has been charmed to safeguard its security. Point-Me, Alohamora, magical lock-picking penknives and most other spells and devices will not work here. Anti-apparition spells are also set in place preventing anybody apparating in or out freely. Only during emergency cases does the Department Head (or select staff of the Ministry) lift the protection spells around this level.

Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

Lisa meandered through the stairwell near Level Seven, hunting for that golden snitch that had escaped before even she had joined the Ministry. She wasn't thinking she'd be able to catch it, no, she was no seeker, but she did hope to at least confirm it was still flitting around, and to check on its status. If it was getting old, someone (not her) might have a chance of finally catching it.

Thinking she spotted a glimpse of gold, Lisa followed the stairs away from Level Seven at a brisk pace, her heels click-clacking with every step.

Theodore had no interest in looking for the legendary missing golden snitch, which he had heard of before, of course. Not because he didn’t think he could, although he was a renowned chaser in his time, no seeker, but because he was quite lazy and just wanted to do his job and then go home. Some could argue that it was part of his job but he’d forget about that until someone asked him to do it. He really wanted to ignore and be ignored in general today.

Heading to his work area, Theodore heard someone scurrying quickly and noisily coming towards him on the stairs. Likely to be a passing ship from another level whom he could ignore. Alas, nope, it was his boss.

Well, he just HAD to say something, didn’t he? Especially because he almost bumped right into her, starting off one of those awkward side step/dance things when you bumped into someone accidentally.

Oh. Sorry, I must be in your way.” Since she looked and sounded busy from her heels clanging ringing BELLS in his ears.

Distracted from her snitch-seeking mission by a presence, Lisa tutted when she realized who she'd nearly run into. "Theodore, my dear, no need to apologize," she insisted, coming to a stop and resisting the motherly urge to pat his shoulder. "It is nice to see I'm not the only one taking the stairs."

Glancing past her employee's ear, Lisa thought she spotted a flicker of gold. "Say! Did you see that?"
