Had she just made him feel a little awkward or something? Or maybe he just felt like he'd spoken out of turn? She didn't know but it was sweet of him to ensure she was okay AND to care enough to reassure her his friends were nice once she got to know them. But that wouldn't happen if she was stood here in the hallway now, would it! She smiled at him. "Let's go" she responded confidently. |
Quote:
At her go ahead he led her into the dinningroom where he found everyone laughing at something. What had he missed? "James, so nice of you to join us, how was your little hallway meeting?" Dia asked, flashing him a knowing smile before briefly looking over at Jade. Those two had taken their own time in getting into the room and she was curious as to why. Though she would never actually ask because then Lizzie would have given her an earful and a half! For now she would be fine with teasing it out of him. |
Quote:
She followed James into the dining room with a confident smile firm on her face. Was she smiling a little too much? She hoped not! What were they laughing at? Now she felt as though she'd made James miss out on some fun! Hopefully he wasn't thinking the same thing. She raised an eyebrow hearing what Dia had just said. Did she say something back? She had directed it to James after all. She didn't want to sound like she was trying to interfere or something. But if she didn't speak they would probably think she didn't want to be there. She did want to be there. She was happy to be meeting James' friends. |
Quote:
"Exactly." James added. This was one of the few times he could agree with Lizzie on when Dia was strectching it. Sure she didn't mean any harm and he could see that she was just trying to lighten the mood but maybe Jade wouldn't have seen it that way. It was very likely that she had a different sense of humour than the one he and Dia shared and that would have made it a bit difficult in some cases; like right now. His lips curled into a smile when he caught Dia pouting slightly. "Buuut if you really want to know..." he chuckled when the smile returned to her face. Reaching into his back pocket he pulled out a lollipop and showed it to her. "I had told her she owed me one of these and she was nice enough to take it with her tonight." It was only a small lie and besides, it made her feel better without allowing her to think that anything had happened while they stopped out in the hall. Merlin knew that woman had an overactive imagination at times. "Oh, is that all?" she asked, snatching the lollipop from his hand. She turned to Jade with a playful smile. "You should have left it in the store, he doesn't deserve it." She turned on her heel merrily and popped it in her mouth. "Have a seat, the food's amazing." "Get that thing out of your mouth until after dinner." "Yikes you sound like my mother." |

"Dia!" he said incredulously. She did not just tell Jade that. At his outburst she couldn't help but giggle again. [B]"It's true though, he gets this cute little look on his face and starts acting all sulkly--it's the best, right Cameron?" James looked over at Cameron immediately and tried silently pleading with him to disagree with Dia. This couldn't be happening--it couldn't! Was no one on his side? "It's true, he's quite the thrill when he's upset." The opportunity was too good to pass up. James was steadily changing to a...redder colour. At the moment it was still barely noticeable but what did he think would happen when he told Dia such a easy lie to go off of? Oh...then again maybe he hadn't meant for anyone to know it was a lie but, he had known him for too long to fall for something as simply as that...even if Dia had. It was almost sad really; how she could have believed that was beyond him. James sighed, sinking into the seat next to hers. "Don't believe a word they tell you, they stay up all night trying to think of ways to make me look bad." He said, shaking his head. Dia suddenly looked very confused. "I thought we only did that for Lizzie..." The guys looked to her with wide eyes. Boy, she sure knew how to get a couple guys in trouble didn't she. By the time she realized what she had said all she could do was laugh nervously and share James some of the food. |
Quote:
She glanced at James once more before Dia began talking again. So now he looked cute when he was pouting? She couldn't argue with that. Though she hadn't actually seen him pout but the idea of him being cute was enough to make her smile. "Now that I can imagine" she smiled, her gaze dropping on James. Great, now she was obviously making it obvious she was attracted to him. A thrill? How could someone possibly be a thrill when they were upset? Being upset just made people vulnerable to whatever joke people could think up to torment that person. But she wasn't going to argue. Now that would give a bad impression. As if she hadn't already! She looked at James again hearing him begin to speak with a satisfied smile on her face. The only thing she wanted to believe was that he was cute when he pouted. The rest, she had no comment on! And she had no intentions of telling anyone what she was actually thinking. She really didn't want to be one of those people who made his friends dislike her. How awkward would that be? So instead she smiled comfortingly toward him. "I don't think what they're saying makes you look bad" she responded. Wait, what exactly was she saying? Was she actually letting her own opinion leak into the atmosphere? Though it was only meant for James to hear. |

Dia and Cameron were ready to start having a ball. Was it them or did it seem like every move, every sentence the woman said made her even more hilarious. She was quite the interesting one. "Oh most definitely not!" Dia exclaimed with shrear pleasure. She was even defending him--this was toooo good. "Just trying to bring out some of his best features, you really should lighten up James. You make it seem like you don't want this lovely woman knowing just what you're like when you can't have your way." She clearly remembered the day he stormed out of the house and went for what seemed like the longest walk he had ever gone on--that was the day he met that Jade person. He had been pouting until he realized that her crocodile tears always won then he just got fed up and left. Her eyes fell on the woman, now that at least half her intentions were clear Dia could start making her own opinions of her. Not bad so far...quite entertaining... Cameron raised an eyebrow at the young woman. So she could get even more interesting before the night ended. She certainly brought out a different side to James he had to admit. His young friend was...blushing. There was no denying it. James was a little shocked that Jade continued with the lie. It wasn't that she had to because Dia might have eventually dropped it. He just really wanted to keep Dia's mind firmly planted on the floor. Her imagination always took flight when it was allowed to and even if she was wrong--which she was in her assumption--she wouldn't have dropped it. He just didn't want her making Jade feel weird. Aw man why'd she have to go and say that in front of them. He could feel the heat rising in his cheeks and the look on Cameron's face only confirmed the fact that he was blushing. Well at least she was smiling; that was really all that matter and as long as his friends weren't making her unbelievably uncomfortable then he would just have to endure it. "Really?" At least she wasn't starting to think any less of him. |
Ashley looked at Dia, surprised by her bully comment. Honestly, Ash wished she had never had to deal with Leila. She was a horrible excuse for a human being when they were young and the blonde wouldn't wish her experience with that girl on anyone. She sat back, watching as the others commented on their experience at Hogwarts. It was interesting to hear how others had found their time there. The whole James/Jade situation was kind of amusing to watch, especially since Dia seemed to take on the role of interviewer. Ashley was just glad she wasn't the one being interviewed. Instead, she dug into the delicious food and enjoyed the situation that was playing out. |
Quote:
The somewhat shocked look on her friends face made her start to think that wishing for a bully might have been an odd thing. She hadn't gotten the chance to know much about what was considered odd seeing as she spent her school life prior to Hogwarts being home school by her mother--a woman who didn't seem to have any restrictions when it came to social courtesy and all that. Hm, oh well. "So then maybe I don't want one after all?" Was that a better response? |
Quote:
The blonde smiled at her friend after hearing her next comment. "Yeah, I don't think you would've wanted one. Besides, it seems like you had your own kind of adventures at Hogwarts with these guys." And that was awesome. "And I guess you guys kind of bully each other a bit, yeah?" The way brothers and sisters usually did. It was a fun sort of bullying, one that didn't leave lasting scars. |
Quote:
Dia's eyes opened wide with what she thought was realization. "Ohhhh so you mean bullies do the things that we do to each other then?" Hopefully she was understanding this time because she wanted to get this concept down. "So then...what's the problem?" She couldn't find any no matter how hard she looked. She loved the pranks she and her friends played; they were fun. Why would anyone complain about a bully if that was all they did? It wasn't making any sense. If what they did could be classified as bullying then she most definitely wanted a bully. |
Ashley looked at her friend, frowning slightly. Dia clearly didn't know anything about bullies so she would have to elaborate a bit, yeah? "Well bullies tease other people, yes. And I suppose others play tricks on people as well." So in a way, Dia and the boys were kind of bullying each other. "The problem is, actual bullies, like Leila, try to do damage. They want it to hurt when they pull a trick or call someone a name." And it usually did, hurt that is. "You see, any time Leila did something to me in school she wanted to make me cry. She seemed to enjoy my pain...she was like some kind of...well I guess she was like a dementor." Yeah, a literal joy sucker! That's what Leila was. |
Quote:
Dia nodded slowly, both answering Lizzie's question and showing that she was finally understanding what Ashley was trying to say. She remembered that boy very well--he was vile and disgusting and ...well he was very mean. She hadn't liked him one bit. "That's sounds terrible..." She amitted. "Wasn't there anything you could do?" Once someone at Hogwarts tried being mean to her but once they got a little talking to from James and Cameron he never tried it again--no one ever tried it again. She couldn't even begin to imagine that people like that actually existed. |
Ashley sat back and listened as Lizzie chimed in, apparently trying to remind Dia of an experience they had had, one with bullies. The blonde leaned forward in her seat, curious about what had happened to them in the muggle market. Unfortunately, Ashley's curiosity remained as Dia didn't go into details about her own bully experience and instead inquired about Ashley's again. Had there been anything she could do? "Well I was tempted to hex her several times, Leila I mean." And she wouldn't even have felt bad about it only she didn't want to sink that low. "Instead I took it quietly, focusing my energy instead on doing well in school and being an all around better person than her...which was actually pretty satisfying." And hopefully people respected Ashley's choice not to sink to Leila's level. |
Quote:
Lizzie understood perfectly what this Ashley woman was saying. It really was quite fulfilling to know that in the end you were the bigger person and you stuck it out. It had such a rewarding feeling to it. "I know what you mean." Lizzie said with a smile. Finally someone who saw life th way she saw it! Well I'm not sure I understand." Cameron was still trying to wrap his mind around what she had just said. How was that very fulfilling...?"You chose focusing on school work over hexing someone?" He never thought he would have met someone quite like her in fact he was sure she was rare. |
The confused looks didn't go unnoticed by Ashley but she simply shrugged. People had different ways of dealing with these types of situations but Ashley had never been the type to act violently towards another person, no matter how angry she might have been at the time. Not that she didn't think about it...hurting Leila. She had. A lot. When Lizzie said she knew what Ash meant, the blonde turned and nodded with a smile. Lizzie wasn't so bad after all. Maybe she was a bit stiff as far as joking and playing around was concerned, but she was definitely alright in Ashley's book. She had been waiting for it, someone to voice their confusion out loud. Finally someone did and that someone was Cameron. She smiled at his question, nodding her head. "Crazy huh, not actually doing anything to Leila after the way she treated me...only I wouldn't have liked myself very much if I went after her. It's not who I am. Truthfully, I probably could have hexed the pants off of the girl but it only would've been satisfying in that moment." And then Ashley would have been in loads of trouble and banned from quidditch and just all together in a bad situation. "I guess I just think focusing on my own thing and ignoring how awful she was made me a better person? A stronger one...Plus it annoyed her that I wasn't showing any anger." GRIN. Total plus. |

The more she spoke was the more Lizzie liked this woman. She had a lot of sense this one--nothing at all like the guys. She approved. This Ashley person was perfect for Dia, someone who would teach her right when she wasn't around. Maybe she had some kind of pranking side to her but it didn't seem very strong and she could live with that. "That's very good advice you know. I bet it really did the trick." It usually did when it came to bullies; they were always so easily manipulated when you knew what to do, Cameron nodded. He didn't qute agree with her but he could understand where she was coming from. He hadn't necessarily seen life like that before but it wasn't a wrong way of thinking...it might actually have been pretty smart. Okay it was smart, but still not for him. Not when hexing was so much more entertaining. "That's quite a way of thinking you have there." She said, trying to put on a polite smile. He wasn't trying to mock her he meant it and it was a good way of thinking too. "And hey you did good if you could still annoy her without actually doing anything. You have to teach us that one day." "Definitely. We do need another method of annoying Lizzie without much effort." James added jokingly but he quieted down again at the look of her glare. |
Dia's silence didn't go entirely unnoticed by her friend. Ashley looked over at her curiously, wondering what she was thinking. She didn't voice it though, giving her friend a small smile instead. They could discuss things later if Dia had any more questions. The blonde smiled at Lizzie, a genuine one. "It did work quite well. I think the more Leila saw that I wasn't going to react the more she got bored. All she wanted was the attention." Not that that had changed much since school, the girl still craved attention at all times. "One would think that woman needs applause to live or something." Ashley smiled at Cameron, shrugging her shoulders a bit. It was how she had always thought about things so it wasn't that impressive to her. Her smile turned into a smirk when the man said she would have to teach them her method of abuse. "Course I will, I'm quite a good teacher." She said before laughing softly. When James piped in, Ashley snorted before doing her best to stop laughing. She looked at Lizzie apologetically and then back to the two jokesters. "I tend to use my powers for good, not evil." She said with a smile. "And I think you boys annoying Lizzie could be put into the evil category." She added playfully. She wasn't trying to be mean, she just thought these two could handle this kind of humor. They didn't seem like the types to be easily offended. |
SPOILER!!: Ashley Dia looked over at the curious look her friend was giving her. At first she thought it a bit strange but then she took into consideration the fact that she had become unusually quiet. Even she had to admit that those moments were rare so she gave her friend a reassuring smile to show her that everything was alright. Of course she still wanted to know a bit more about that whole bullying thing. Why did people even bully? It didn't seem like much fun... Very clever..." Lizzie muttered. If only she had thought of that back then. It certainly would have made life easier for her and a lot less hurtful. Could that really have been the solution...just ignoring them? That little muggle boy hadn't seemed to run away when they ignored him, in fact he had just gotten meaner and more persistent. Perhaps bullies came in all forms and they had just gotten the worst. Okay he was officially pleased. He would learn the secret art of sinfully annoying people without having to lift a finger. This was just grand. "Well taht's good to hear..and don't worry, we're fast learners." He said, giving her a wink. It hadn't taken him and James very long to learn from most of their mistakes and this would be no different. "That's just too bad." James said with a sigh when he heard her response. "Are you sure there's nothing we can do to help you reconsider? When you look at it it will be for a good cause--Dia will get a kick out of it." He said with a wide yet innocent grin. This was true, it would have amused Dia to no end and that was a good thing, right? |
The blonde was happy to see her friend's reassuring smile. That meant everything was okay with Dia, yeah? Though it still didn't entirely explain how quiet she was being. Ash made a mental note to ask her about it later. Ashley laughed as Cameron winked at her. His enthusiasm about learning how to annoy without actually putting much effort into it was actually quite funny. "I'm sure you guys are." She said with a smirk, looking from one guy to the other. And then James with his innocent grin...Ashley could see why Dia was friends with these men, even if they did harass her every now and again. "Well Dia's my friend so if she'll get a kick out of it..." She said thoughtfully, smiling over at Dia. "I guess maybe I'll make an exception." They had had enough bullying chat now, yeah? At least they had as far as Ashley was concerned. She was actually kind of eager to learn more about Dia's friends. "So Dia has told me a lot about you guys but I guess I want to know more. What does everyone do?" Professionally speaking, of course. "...Well besides play tricks on eachother." |
Quote:
James was quick to hear the pun in Cameron's sentence but he wouldn't say anything just in case no one else did. Afterall wouldn't want them knowing exactly what they did when they walked onto the movie sets; that would just ruin it. "It's quite amusing to find muggles who think they can act--" Oh you mean like that woman who walked in in that oversized fur coat last autumn?" Dia couldn't help but put in with a giggle. That was the most fun she had ever had while going to work with the guys. Muggles were funny and they were even more funny when you put them infront of a camera! "I actually work as a freelance photographer. When I get a job I do it very well without using any magic." Which was more than the guys could say; she gave them a look to let them know that she was unto them. "And what about you? What occupies your time?" It was always polite to redirect a question to give everyone a chance to have a nice...but not only that, she was actually interested to know; now that didn't happen very often. |
Ashley listened, quite interested, as the men started to talk about their job. Co-directors, huh? That was actually quite cool. The blonde raised an eyebrow at the mention of magic, wondering if Cameron was just trying to be funny or if they actually used their abilities to help create awesome films. "Directing must be quite fun then, I'm sure you guys meet a lot of uh...characters in a job like that." Show business tended to be kind of dramatic didn't it? And then just as she had asked, James seemed to answer her question on cue. She laughed at his comment. "Think they can act? ...oh no." How could one even keep a straight face in front of a horrible actor? Ashley definitely wouldn't be able to. When Dia chimed in, Ashley looked from her to the guys curiously. "You mean to say you go in and help out Dia? Why that's quite nice of you..." Though she was just assuming Dia helped out. For all she know, her friend just went for the laughs. For whatever reason, the blonde hadn't expected Lizzie to be a photographer. She had instead expected her to be...well some kind of job with a little more structure. It was a pleasant surprise though and Ashley smiled. "That's actually really awesome. I've always loved photography, not that I'm an expert or anything." She was quite handy with her magical camera though. And as for Lizzie's question. "Oh I'm a Potions Identification Analyst in the Magical Accidents and Catastrophes department." She said proudly, smiling at the woman. "I'm finding I really enjoy it there." |
Cameron smirked. What Ashley had said was a gross understatement. They met scores muggles each day who whined when they didn't have enough lightening and beamed whe you told them it was a good take. They were always so easy to gain control of and very amusing at the same time. "Some times I have to take a moment and wonder just how real they are." There were some funny characters out there and somehow they all seemed to fnd their way to him and James. Not that he was complaining. If he couldn't get a good laugh at work then it wouldn't have been worth it. James chuckled. That was exactly their response when they met such people. Both would give each other the look that said 'oh no...' but it would be worth it in the end, after all a good laugh was all he needed to get him into high spirits then the rest of the day could be happily over looked with a smile. "That's right, think. But we don't tell them otherwise or they'll stop trying and that will be bad for the business, you know?" Dia giggled. Ashley thought she actually helped when she accompanied them to school? Well in a way she did. She helped the people realize that they couldn't afford to quit their day jobs. She thought she was quite helpful. "You bet I do." She said with a wide grin. "I let them down gently at the end of the day." It was a win win situation for her and the guys. They didn't have to turn the people down personally and Dia would be able to work on her people skills. Juts perfect. "Oh, that sounds rather fascinating. What is it that you do exactly?" Merlin, she was starting to sound as inquisitve as Dia but she really wanted to know; it sounded like such an intriguing position. |
Asha looked around in shock as she entered Arisa's house. Her friend hadn't been exaggerating- it really had been messed up. "You really weren't exaggerating when you said that you and Artimus had practically destroyed the house, were you?" she asked, still somewhat mind-blown that one person and a cat could thrash a house to pieces so thoroughly. "We've definitely got our work cut out for us," she continued as she bent down and examined a broken vase to her right. The vase looked like it had once been quite valuable- it must have been an antique or something. Looking closer, she found a few stray cat hairs in it. Asha smiled wryly. Must have been Artimus, she thought to herself. "It'll take a lot of effort, but I think we can get it done." She stood up and waited for Arisa to tell her where to start. |
