She shrugged. "I don't know. Just seems like Marcella has always been alone and I've never really had anyone I could count on aside from my father so, I suppose I just never thought there would be anyone else, besides maybe Dumbledore, who even had an interest in what happens to us"

"I'll admit," he said, walking with her out of the shadow of the forest. "Your instability is insufferable. But, it is not entirely your fault. And, though it drives me mad, I would not be as attracted to you, were you the picture of stability."

EmmaRiddle 08-23-2004 06:24 PM

"Dumbledore's interest only goes as far as saving the world. The fool doesn't care about people on a personal level." He huffed out his chest and thrust his shoulders back, proudly, "I, however, prefer to look after the people. They are, after all, what makes us a nation." In hysterics, he collapsed onto the stairs below and rolled all the way down until he hit the grass, murmuring a pathetic "ouch!" as he rolled up onto his elbows for support.

"You know, you go on about being attracted and everything but the way you act about it sometimes, it makes me feel as if I'm some sort of magnet. Not a person." She shook her head shortly and walked on, clasping eyes on the person she'd liked to have seen the least. McGonagall and Dumbledore were sat down by the lake, both with extrememly stern expressions on their faces.

Biochemkris 08-23-2004 06:33 PM

Kristi burst out laughing, despite herself, at Nick. It sounded almost as if he were running for Minister of Magic. She gasped and ran down the stairs after he rolled down them. She crouched beside him, placing a hand on his back. "Are you alright?" she asked, worried.

He opened his mouth to respond but, was saved the trouble as he followed Marcella's gaze toward the lake. Minerva and Albus did not look too pleased. Perhaps he and Marcella could just walk on past without... But, no, they were going to intercept them. "Headmaster, Minerva," Snape greeted them as they walked into their path.

"Severus, do you think it wise to be wandering off into the forest with my god-daughter?" Dumbledore asked.

EmmaRiddle 08-23-2004 08:43 PM

Out of the corner of his eye he spied Marcella and Snape exitting the forest and then being apprehended by Dumbledore and McGonagall. Keen that she didn't see what was going on, he grabbed her and flung her on the floor, tickling her under the arms and across the stomach. "I'm fine, but you don't seem to be." he chuckled, as he watched her giggle and squirm.

Without prior thought or any clue of what she was about to say, she stepped forward, blocking Snape from Dumbledore's view. "I'd rather be my real father's daughter than yours. Would you kindly stop trying to deny me a life. You're a thorn in my side, Albus."

Biochemkris 08-23-2004 08:53 PM

Her words wounded him deeply and he looked down at her with sollow-filled eyes. "I am not trying to prevent you from having a life. I can see that you are not happy in each other's company. I merely want what is best for you Marcella. I doubt your real father could say the same.

Snape placed a hand on Marcella's shoulder but, remained silent. She was being rather harsh but, he felt she had a valid point and Albus needed to hear her out.

Caught completely by surprise, she wasn't prepared when Nick suddenly grabbed her and flung her down. She writhed and threw her hands about, trying uselessly to fend off the attack. Kristi was laughing so hard that her stomach was begining to ache. "What... are... you... doing?" she asked in between fits of giggles and large gasping breaths.

EmmaRiddle 08-23-2004 09:30 PM

"I was happy but I'm not now and it's all your fault! If you had done a better job of protecting me, rather than trying to destroy my life, then maybe none of this would be happening. Fact is I'm miserable because you let a student into the school who was being posessed by Lord Voldemort. And when Archie tried to reveal him for what he really was, you refused to believe him. You're just a sad old fool!" Distraught, she flung her hand from Snape's hold and ran toward the castle, almost tripping down the dungeons steps and locked herself in her bedroom.

"Making you laugh, what does it look like?" he asked, tickling her further, pulling her hair free from its tie.

Biochemkris 08-23-2004 10:38 PM

Tears were streaming into her ears she was laughing so hard. She wasn't sure she'd ever laughed this much in her life... ever. It was a good feeling, though her sides were really begining to ache now. Kristi had eased the flailing of her arms, as it hadn't done a bit of good and grabbed hold of the front of Nick's robes, trying to push him away from her. Unfortunately, gravity was against her, she was unable to push his weight away, and succumbed to his tickling torture.

Snape watched as Marcella stormed off. He glared at Dumbledore and made to follow after her.

EmmaRiddle 08-23-2004 11:29 PM

reaching out a hand to her, he spun her around so that they faced the castle just after Marcella had run in. Ushering to her, he took her directly back into the hall.

He saw the man was about to go and, as if to grab him, he held out a hand and stammered, "See what you've done? The influence you've had on her? I had her brought up so she would not turn out like this, this little arrogant, ignorant brat that she's become. Severus, why couldn't you just leave well enough alone. She's no more than a child for Merlin's sake.." He saw Minerva beside him, ever silent, but knew she felt much the same way as he did.

Angered, frustrated, she flew through the coridoors and threw herself onto her bed, desparately clinging to the sheets in a mess of tears. He was being taken away and her god-father saw her as no more than a sugar coated hussy. Kristi didn't deserve to have her as a would-be mother and Nick didn't deserve to be disgraced by her.

He could hear her crying. He rubbed his palms together and, without knocking, he pushed open the door with one light finger, the rush of the power flowing through him once more.

You owe me one more thing before I let you die. You can only rest when I have her.

Arms folded, he leant against the door, looking down at her pathetic form.

"You're right, they are much better off without you. And it is that fool Dumbledore's fault. Now that see what a mess the 'good' side has made of your life, why don't you come with me and see what kind of environment your real father can give you. Anything has got to be better than this." he told her, in a would-be sympathetic voice.

If she hadn't heard the thoughts go through her mind, she would not have believed them. Was Darrin back from the dead, again. And, what he was saying, did it actually make sense? It scared her to think that now, being as desparate as she was, she started to consider whether life might have been better with her real father. Maybe Darrin had been right all along...

Biochemkris 08-23-2004 11:39 PM

"I told you. I told you from the begining that I wasn't the right person for the job. Anyone else in the order would have made a better minder for her than I. I brought her back to my home and knew it would work out. But, you insisted that she stay with me, that I care for her. I did the best that I could!!"

EmmaRiddle 08-24-2004 01:28 PM

"You did more than you should have! You overstepped the line Severus and you know it. I warned you, I told you to cease this silly little affair but you couldn't. I feel sure that if you were not about to go to Azkaban, I would not be able to have you teach here a second longer."

"I am right." he told her, bending down next to her crumpled form, lending a hand for her to lean upon in order to straighten herself. "Life would not have been this way had you obeyed your real father. He's waiting for you Marcella, he wants to forgive you, he wants you with him."

Almost as if she were in a trance, she felt herself take his hand, his words seemed to be taking over her mind, convincing her that he were right.

Then, as if by thunder by lightening, she heard a door slam and she became awoken from her thoughts.

He couldn't be right. He, her father, had tried to kill her, kill her, his own flesh. There was no way he could love her. There was no way life with him could be better than this.

She tore her hand from his grasp, withdrew her wand and snarled, "Stay away from me!"

Biochemkris 08-24-2004 02:16 PM

"I did let her go! I left her alone for an entire year! But, she came back to haunt me. I couldn't help myself. If you had just paid her more attention she wouldn't have come running to me," he sneered. "Don't put all the blame on me, Albus because, for once, you share some of the responsibility."

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 10:25 AM

"I don't deny that I do Severus. I am responsible for letting you get your hands on her in the way you did. And I shall never forgive myself for that. But you should have known better. All these years you've been professional, without need for feelings such as those and quite frankly I cannot see what changed."

He shook his head, laughing sickly, tapping his wand against his hand. "I should've known you wouldn't be so agreeable for long. Look, you're coming whether you like or not so pullyourself up, sort yourself out and get a move on."

"I'm not one of his mionions; I don't take orders." she told him, defiantely. "You can do so all you like Darrin. You can come back to haunt me as many times as you want but I will never bend to your filthy ways!"

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 01:00 PM

"Neither can I!" Snape yelled in frustration as he turned his back on Dumbledore, his hands balled into fists. He whirled back around, "Which is why I told you to get her away from me. I knew something was wrong from the moment she stepped foot inside my house but, you don't listen. You never pay attention to what we're saying because you always think you know what is best and maybe a lot of the time you do. But, Marcella is right, if you had just given her a bit of freedom instead of locking her away with a frustrated, embittered, ex-Death Eater!"

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 01:05 PM

"If you can't see what has changed, Severus, then I am afraid that even if you were staying, there would have been no hope for your....relationship. She loves you and however much that is regrettable, is is true. And, standing out here, arguing with me isn't going to achieve anything. Look at yourself. You're a mess."

"Fine. Be that way. I'll just take you by force." Raising his wand, he bound her hands behind her back, took hold of them and shoved her out of the door.

"You know, you could be a little more polite. You haven't even explained what your great plan is this time 'round. Why does he even want to bother with me anymore?"

He wasn't about to admit it to her, but her calm state, her almost willingness to co-operate, scared him. Last time she flailed like a mand woman but this time she seemed resigned to her fate.

Pushing her harder, he ducked under the shadows of the trees, that lead down to the Hogsmeade village. Sniggering, seeing that the two Professor were still arguing, he muffled her voice and shoved a hand over her lips before carting her down by Hogsmeade Station only then to apparate and disappear, with her in tow.

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 01:16 PM

Snape scowled. "Well, the next time you're due for a stay in Azkaban, take a look in the mirror and tell me what you look like," he sneered but, held up a hand. "I know it's my own fault, Albus. I don't need you to keep telling mee that. All these years you've supported me and now, when I need your support the most, is the time you decide to point out my wrongdoings? We've spent hours discussing the foul deeds of my youth and never once have you told me that it was my fault when I know perfectly well that it was. Is loving your god-daughter that much worse than that?"

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 01:30 PM

"I can't keep covering your tracks for you. You grew up a long time ago Severus. I cant keep telling you falsities. And I cannot have you put up against my god-daughter. When it comes down to it, she is more important to me, to everyone, than you are. Your part in this is over Severus. Now, if you'll kindly return to the castle, I'd rather not have any more harsh words with you in such a public area."

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 02:29 PM

The last thing he wanted right now was to obey the headmaster, however, he didn't want a public scene either. So, relucatantly, and without another word, Snape walked back up to the castle and down into his quarters where he collapsed into his chair, momentarily forgetting about Marcella.

A few minutes later, after he had gained some amount of control over his anger, he rose from his chair and went over to the room she was sharing with Kristi. He knocked on the door and when he received no answer, he pushed it open. There was noone inside. He turned back and searched his own quarters and then, his office but, he couldn't find her. Where had she run off to?

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 07:55 PM

He tugged and tugged at her arm as they approached what looked to be a near ruined building. Scaffolding hung off the edge of planks of wood, precariously. Finally deciding to no more take any of her resistance, he increased the pressure on her wrist and scowled at her. "I really don't get you. You're not willing to come, yet you don't really struggle against me. You just refuse to move."

"I just don't see why I should make it easy for you." In a casual voice, she added, "Besides why should I be worried. You've failed all the other times and, soon enough Dumbledore and Snape will see I'm gone and will send out hundreds of aurors to find me."

"They're too busy arguing between themselves to be bothered with you. Don't make yourself out to be so special, Miss Riddle." he scoffed, pulling her harder, his nails digging themselves into her veins.

"You're just bitter. Shut that foul trap of yours. They'd never forget me. Sure, they have their differences, but they love me!" Angered, fierce tears making their way down her face, she muttered, "You just cant hack the fact that you're a mess. You've let a man take over you and your life and in the mean time you've lost all love and respect for yourself and from others!"

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 08:08 PM

He searched through the rooms one more time before heading to the Slytherin common room to see if she was trying to hide out there. Snape dreaded going near the Great Hall and wondered if she would try to get lost int he crowd except... That wasn't like her. Despite what she said about how she wouldn't run off again, he suspected that was most likely what she had done. Now, the question was, did he tell Dumbledore or just go off to find her himself?

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 08:21 PM

She watched him, unnerved that he appeared to have nothing more to stay to her on the matter. Tightening her robe around herself, she followed him as he walked faster and shook her head in exasperation, "You're just a sad act. A sad lonely person with no purpose in life so instead you decide to try and wreck mine. When, all the while, Voldemort's just using you. He won't reward you, you'll just be discarded when he's done with you. He doesn't care about you the way we all used to, before you changed. Can't you see that being this way, it's just not going to do anything for you?"

"Don't you think I know that?" he said, as he turned and glared at her. "I know he's just using me and I know I mean nothing to nobody but what other choice do I have? I have no choice, but you refuse to see that, you refuse to believe that possibly I don't actually want to be doing this."

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 08:34 PM

Snape concluded that he'd best tell Dumbledore what he had found or, rather, who he had not found. He found him in his office. Snape barged through the door without knocking. "She's gone," he sneered. "She's run off again, thanks to you."

EmmaRiddle 08-25-2004 08:47 PM

"It's probably down to both us. I don't see it as anything to worry about. She's done disappearing acts before to clear her head. She'll come back." he told him, assuredly.

"Then why are you doing this?" she begged, tugging on Darrin, pulling him in the opposite direction, feeling that if she pulled him enough he might agree to going her way.

"Because I have nothing left. I lost all my friends in the Durmstrang massacre and I lost you ages ago to that stupid excuse for a man. Now try and give me a reason to fight him."

Biochemkris 08-25-2004 09:05 PM

"What if she's left the grounds? Are you really going to sit up here in your office and not even try to find her?" he asked in a flurry but, stopped abruptly. When he spoke again, it was in a low, menacing, growl, "What if her father gets ahold of her should she wander out of your range of protection?"

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 03:18 PM

"I cant trust your opinion, Severus. You're strongly biased. I can't go sending out hordes of aurors only to find her wandering around the forbidden forest in a sulk. It's a waste of people's time and their resources. Now, please, would you calm yourself and start to think rationally for a change."

"Oh, I don't know!" she said, throwing her hands up in the air. "Because there's always hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. Even though you think you've lost everything, it doesn't mean you should give up fighting. Because what you've got ormore likely what you had is still there, you're just so blinded by your own opinion that you cant see through that. Stop giving up on something that isn't yet lost and start fighting for it Darrin or else I swear you will lose your life and everything important to you, in vain."

She panted and caught her breath, slamming a palm acorss her mouth as she finished shouting. She just realised that as true as those words seemed for Darrin, they rang true in her life too.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 03:28 PM

"I'm not the only one who is biased," Snape growled. "Your opinion of me has blinded you to the fact that Marcella could be in very real danger. So what if they find her in the forest in a sulk? Better that than they don't go looking at all and she ends up in the clutches of her father. Then, all my irrational thinking which has kept her relatively safe has been in vain."

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 03:32 PM

"Fine. You gather some people together then but on your head be it if I'm right. This is the last straw Severus. I'll take your insolence no longer. I daresay even if you weren't going to prison or somehow miraculously got out, I would not want you back teaching at my establishtory!"

"I never even fought. I've never tried and I don't know how." he told her, speeding up again. "We're going and that's that."

"Liar." she spoke, clearly, defiantly, staring at him, arms folded.

"Sorry?" he asked, not really apologising at all, a look of befuddlement on his face. "What did you say?" he snarled, walking nearer to her, reaching out almost as if to catch and strangle her neck.

"I called you a liar, Darrin Fletcher. You have fought before. Kristi told me about it. You must remember her!"

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 03:41 PM

"Fine. I've had my fill of insolent brats as it is," Snape sneered before storming out of the office.

He went back down to the dungeon, wrote out a quick note requesting aid in the search for Marcella, duplicated it, and sent copies to his various auror aquiantences.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 08:18 PM

"Of course I remember her!" he said, an unrecognised emotion arsing on his face, eh started feeling something he did not recognise. "I do remember her but she's not enough. I can't fight him, I just can't."

She shook her head in genuine sadness,"You proclaim that losing me was what destroyed you but I can see it clearly in your eyes; you loved her at one point. Even if you don't recognise that feeling yourself, you did. Go back to that Darrin and fight him!"

He closed his eyes, the little freedom of thought he had due to their not so close proximity to the headquarters, he re-called that fuzy feeling he had in his stomach when he had kissed Kristi. But no sooner had it arrived, it filtered away as he felt a burning sensation course through the veins in his head. He fell to the floor in agony, screaming.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 08:22 PM

Kingsley and Tonks arrived by floo just a few moments after Snape had sent the request. Kingsley had brought a couple of colleagues with him to aid in their search. "Marcella has run off. We need to find her before anyone else, does," he said and then, led them from teh office.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 08:28 PM

She instantly flung herself to his side and then almost instantaneously felt his hands slip around her neck again. She could hear him hissing but couldn't quite make out the words. The voice was unmistakable though, it was that of her father. Kicking him off her, launching a foot straight into his stomach, she rolled over and caressed her severely bruised neck, cutting her hands as she rolled over and grazing her knees and elbows as she stood up once more.

As she saw him writhing around on the floor, she thought it looked as if he was about to lunge for her but then, in mid-motion, decided not to and his body went falling to the floor again. Frowning down at him, she tip-toed nearer and, as she did so, she saw him thrust out a hand and shake his head fiercely. He sounded as if he had not much breath as he choked, "Go! Run!"

Speechless, she made a start to run away, and turned back, unsure of what to do. Choked up, feeling tears well up in her throat, she realised this would be the last time she would ever see Darrin; he was dying. She blew a solitary kiss at him and whispered, "Goodbye". As she turned away, she distinctly heard a body thump against the solid ground and, tearful, she ran as fast as she could until she felt she had the strength to apparate back to Hogsmeade.

Without her knowing, Darrin's body was then instantly transported back to the Hogwarts Hospital Wing.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 08:49 PM

They exitted the oak front doors and looked around. "Where do you think she'd go?" Kingsley asked him.

"I can think of only two places," Snape replied, eyeing the forest and the road to Hogsmeade.

Kingsley gestured for the three aurors he brought with him to check the forest while he, Tonks, and Snape headed down the path to Hogsmeade. "If she's left the grounds, she may have apparated elsewhere but, I don't know where she'd go," Snape said, gravely, his pace quickening to almost a run. "We should have brought brooms...."

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 08:53 PM

She arrived back in Hogsmeade with a thud and it took all the energy she had left, to drag herself up the path and through the shadowy trees. When she laid eyes on Hogwarts Ground, she sighed, in brief relief and allowed herself to fall to the floor.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 09:01 PM

"There's something in the path!" Kingsley shouted and Snape took off at run before he had even finished.

He knelt down beside her and took her in his arms. "Marcella, what were you thinkg?" he asked, relieved, angered, and frustrated all at once.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 09:09 PM

"Why must it always be my fault, eh?" she asked, brushing dirt from her face. "It was nothing really, I just almost got kidnappd again. No big deal really." she said, shrugging it off, secretly ecstatic to be held by him again. She frowned as she saw her dress had been torn and was bloodied due to her hands, knee and neck.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 09:16 PM

He brushed her hair away from her face and surveyed her for the first time. He frowned and turned back to the two waiting aurors. "Tell Dumbledore we've found her and that I was right," he said before turning back to Marcella.

"Are you badly injured? Can you at least walk to the Hospital Wing?" he asked.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 09:44 PM

"I don't think I can, I'm afraid." she said, knowing she sounded ever so pathetic. She frowned and asked, "What were you right about? This isn't another one of your ego trips, is it?"

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 09:48 PM

"Dumbledore was under the impression that you had run off to sulk and was going to refuse to send anyone out looking for you," he said, scooping her up into his arms. He stood holding her for a moment before asking, "What are you afraid of?"

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 10:54 PM

"Well I had intended to run off, but not to sulk. To cry. And I didn't end up doing that at all. I can't believe he'd think of me as so unimportant!" she huffed with the little energy she had left. "I'm not afraid, it was a figure of speech Severus." she said, losing her patience with him as it was obvious to her, that he should recognise how weary she was therefore not torment her so with such questions.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 11:15 PM

Snape sighed and began to walk up to the castle. "Who kidnapped you? Where were you? How did you escape?" he askedestions pouring out before he cou qu, theld control himself.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 11:18 PM

"Just shhhhh please!" she begged, sighing, rubbing her aching temples. "Please just be quiet, cant you see I'm exhausted?" Knowing he only cared for her, she lifted a quiet hand to his cheek and kissed him slowly on the lips, hoping that may convey the message better.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 11:24 PM

Her kiss surprised him into silence as he held her a bit closer as he carried her up to the Hospital Wing. Snape pushed the doors open with his foot and gently laid her upon the bed. "Do you need anything before I get Madam Pomfrey?" he asked.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 11:45 PM

"Maybe.." she told him, in a whisper, as she made no attempt to lay down. Instead, she propped herself up and leaned into him for the second time, leaving her lips on his for a little longer than before.

Biochemkris 08-26-2004 11:50 PM

Snape's arms snaked around Marcella, holding her close to him as kissed. He closed his eyes and could almost forget what had just happened.

EmmaRiddle 08-26-2004 11:55 PM

As they both in turn deepend the kiss, she felt herself lay down, with his snaking over her. And, as he did so, she felt the brush of material against the open wound on her knee and cried in agonising pain, clinging at the injured leg.

Biochemkris 08-27-2004 12:02 AM

He was just beginning to lose himself when Marcella cried out in pain. He quickly stood back up and looked down at her injured leg. Sighing, he said, "I'll get Madam Pomfrey."

EmmaRiddle 08-27-2004 11:31 AM

"That's right, don't try and save my feelings, just act deprived as you always do." she scoffed, hurt that he'd seem so complacent, so annoyed at having toe recognise, acknowledge her injured state. "Excuse me if I can't get my leg over with a messed up knee. How dare I refuse thee."

Biochemkris 08-27-2004 12:40 PM

He had nothing to say to that comment. Why must they run around in these circles? Why couldn't they just be together for even just an hour without arguing, just enjoying one another? As much as he longed to lose himself in her, he could think of nothing better, at the moment, than laying next to her, just holding her in his arms. But, she wouldn't believe that he was conerned that she was injured, that he wasn't just thinking about the physical.

"I'm weary, Marcella. I did not mean to make you feel as of you are nothing more than a piece of meat."

There, that was as outright an apology as he could recall having ever given. If she wasn't satisfied with that... He turned to fetch Madam Pomfrey from her office.

EmmaRiddle 08-27-2004 01:52 PM

She found herself almost stunned into silence as she witnessed him give her a full, sincere, genuine apology. He had never admitted being wrong before and neither had he ever let witness him saying sorry to anybody.

"Thank You." she whispered, watching him leave, her eyes drifting over to where Darrin's body had returned.

There would be no evidence, other than her word, that what had happened tonight, did actually happen. Therefore, Voldemort would walk free, having been the true murderer of Darrin. That was what was so sickening, Snape was about to Azkaban when really he didn't ever kill Darrin at all. It was her father who had truly done it and the thought alone managed to make her body heave and propel vomit over the side of the bed.

Biochemkris 08-27-2004 02:02 PM

As Snape returned with Madam Pomfrey he say Marcella leaning over the edge of the bed. He ran over to her, sat beside her on the bed and pulled her back so that she was rested against him. Brushing back her hair from her face, he looked to Madam Pomfrey who had magicked away the mess on the floor and was begining to examine Marcella's injured knee.

Snape leaned over to the bedside table where there was a pitcher of water and poured it into a goblet. With one hand still petting her hair away from her forehead, he placed the goblet to Marcella's lips.

EmmaRiddle 08-27-2004 02:14 PM

Her mouth dry, the saliva within her lips tasted sour. As sour as the injustice was in this situation. But still she took the water gratefully, sipping maybe three tiny droplets before handing it back to him. Lip quivering, she allowed it to hang as her eyes searched the room and then caught the shine of early daybreak through the windows. Day had come and with it would come no light. Where once light had met the dark and shone, there appeared no saviour. Light would not come to the rescue this time around; instead, it would be the dark that would shine.

That then shall be put forward in Marcella's first 'thoughts' in the newRP, in flashback mode.
