After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

At least the girl had sense enough to know that her ideas were far-fetched, even in the wizarding world. Though he hadn't had much experience with mudbloods outside of his class, being a house which prided itself on its purity of blood (though there was the occassional witch or wizard of mixed parentage that found their way to their ranks), none of his students had opportunity to come up with such wild ideas. He'd heard tell from the other three heads of houses, by the light of the staff room fire, about students coming to them with the oddest questions.

"Yes, well," he responded. "It is probably best to search for the truth rather than come up with unlikely stories."

Just as he was finishing, a house elf slipped in with a tray of food, deposited it on the table, and left without a word. Snape hadn't seen her, he was too busy studying this strange girl who seemed to be as comfortable in his arms as her mother. Though surprised at his reaction, he rather enjoyed the feel of her relative, light weight against him, her hands clutching at his robes. In fact, she seemed to be better therapy after a DE meeting like the one he had just come from than any amount of potions, talking to Dumbledore, or bathing. Who knew that children could be something other than an annoyance to be tolerated?

She didn't seem to care that he was pale, greasy-haired, with a hooked nose. Or that she had suspected him of being in the company of her mother. She didn't seem to want to know anything about his past and she had no preconceived notions of what he should be like. Unconditional love was a concept Albus had been trying to explain to him for years but, he had never come close to understanding it until now. He didn't presume to think that the girl loved him but, it was something that she seemed to like him despite himself. Though he doubted the girl would care for him at all if she ever found out some of the things about him, or once she managed to really get on his nerves but, for now, Snape merely enjoyed the thought that perhaps he wasn't completely evil afterall.

Fred jerked his arm away from George, but he followed him out. Once they were out, Fred turned to George, "We shouldn't of left. They'll probably do something with her and we won't be there. We should of just walked up and voluteered to do something with the body. They obviously don't recognize that we're not real Death Eaters. Thick bunch if you ask me."

Fred crossed his arms and paced around. He couldn't be still thinking about Alicia's body laying in there amongst all of those low-life's. Fred looked up as they all started coming out. He recognized Draco, running off. Fred muttered something about him being a blond pansy and turned to George again. "Can we go back now?"

George's tone was impatient and as hot-blooded as Fred sounded. "Look, I don't like sitting around and waiting either, Fred, but I also don't feel like putting anyone through extra grief if we turn up dead too. I want to take Alicia's body home with us, but... Just wait, Fred." He turned and watched the last of the Death Eaters file from the mausoleum. When no one else came out for a few long moments, George gestured to Fred.

Dani reached out a hand and grabbed a sandwich from the tray sitting by Snape's elbow. She nibbled on it while she considered his words. "But I don't know how to find out the truth. If he wanted me to know who he was, wouldn't he have come to find me already?" Dani looked up at Snape then, her eyes full of trust. He was looking at her so strangely, but it wasn't as if he didn't like her or didn't want her with him. It was more like she was a kind of puzzle for him to figure out. That didn't bother Dani too much because she knew that she was a bit strange. Alanna had always said so.

"It seems to me," Snape said, taking a sandwich for himself. "That a father like that isn't worth thinking about. You shouldn't waste your thoughts on him when there are so many better things to think about."

Changing the subject away from speaking about fathers, Snape inquired, "How are you finding your new life, so far?"

Hermione thought. "Well, there's Harry... but I don't want to mess with him, not now. Ron is always a possibility. Then there's Fred and George, but they don't appear to be around... they're probably up to some mischief themselves. There's Elizabeth... but I don't want to prank her. The poor girl. And there's Neville... and Guin. Who sounds good?"

"Well, I didn't like it very much a little while ago," Dani admitted sheepishly. "That mean ghost chased me all over the castle. I thought you said the ghosts were nice," she said, looking at him doubtfully, as if unsure what his definition of nice was. "But I guess its alright. This castle is very big. i don't think I'll be able to get around without getting lost."

"I don't really have the heart to prank someone who wouldn't take it well. Fred and George are fairly resilient when it comes to pranking, but I don't think I could be. I suppose that leaves Neville or Tonks... or... each other."

Tara awoke from a sound slumber, knowing that her empty stomach was the reason. She yawned and stretched, then called, "Dani! Do you want to go get some dinner?" When there was no answer, Tara rose from the bed and went to wake Danika. Like mother, like daughter, she grinned to herself. The grin dropped from her face when she realized the small bedroom was empty. "Dani?" Tara rushed from teh tower, not knowing how long ago her daughter had left.

"Strictly speaking, Peeves is not a ghost. He is a poltergeist. But, yes, the castle is rather large. It probably seems even larger when you arrive for the first time with only two people. Most children, when they first arrive, are in a rather large group," he said before taking another bite out of his sandwich.

Dani yearned for the other children to befriend and play with. "When are they coming? Are any of them going to be my age? Can we play? Will you teach me to fly?" She looked abashed at asking so many questions at once, but she looked on him unflinchingly.

Snape looked at her for a moment before sighing. This was getting tiresome, all these questions. But, he answered, nonetheless. "They will return on September first but, the youngest will be about to turn eleven," he said. "Madam Hooch has the pleasure of teaching students to fly."

Dani could tell by the edge of impatience in Snape's voice that she'd best leave off with the question and answer session now. She continued to eat her sandwich, the ache in her stomach leaving off and making her feel altogether better. Sipping some pumpkin juice, she finally piped in, "I don't need anyone my age anyway. I have mum and you and Draco. I'm going to marry Draco when I grow up. Do you think mum would mind much?"

Snape raised his eyebrows and nearly laughed at the impetuousness. "We'll see what happens in a few years' time," he responded, a slight upward curl to his lips. "Are you feeling better now?"

Dani gauged the question. She was feeling better and really wasn't frightened at all anymore, but she liked her seat in his lap. She wanted to stay there. "I... I suppose so. You're sure he can't come in here? The poltergeist, I mean. We're safe?" She tightened her grip on his robes and peered up at him with a mischievious look blatant on her face.

Tara was feeling a bit desparate. She'd been to the kitchens, and the house elves were not a bit useful to her search, although she had a pocketful of food that she couldn't seem to turn down. She'd been all over the places that Dani had mentioned visiting with Snape, although there weren't that many all things considered. Finally, she came across a headless suit of armor laying across a hallway. With a heavy heart, she interviewed a portrait nearby of several chatty witches in ugly hats. They told her about Peeves and the little girl, pointing a panicking Tara in the right direction.

Snape could see the mischielf written plainly across the girl's face as she held onto his robes a bit tighter. "Yes, I can see you're feeling better. And no, if Peeves ever put even a poltergeist finger inside a professor's quarters, he'd be kicked out of the castle," he said, humoring her for the moment.

Elizabeth was thoroughly enjoying her conversation with Bill. She looked up as Ginny made her way outside, and noticed that Harry was now staring at the wall. She was about to speak to him, but she changed her mind. Suddenly she realised it was nearly 9am and she was still in her nightdress.

"I'll be right back - going to go get changed"

Dani considered that for a moment, her plotting forgotten temporarily. "So that means he can't come into my room either, right?" She was interrupted by a loud banging on the door.

The trail had ended in the dungeons, where the portraits were rarer and Peeves had peeled off to annoy Filch. Tara had shouted a good bit at them both, and the man and spirit had both slunk off to hide from the irate witch. Now that the trail was cold, Tara didn't know where else to turn. Perhaps Severus was back, and he would have an idea. Her fist stung from where she beat it against the door, but Tara almost didn't notice it.

"No, he can't," Snape replied as he got up and peeled the girl off of him, leaving her on the chair, while he went to answer the door.

As he opened the door, he was accosted by a frantic Tara who was talking as fast and incomprehensibly as her daughter had not too long ago. He stood in the doorway, waiting for her to take a breath so he could figure out what was going on, though he could guess what it might be.

Tara tried not be the tpical hysterical female, but she couldn't find her daughter, and she really needed Snape to just take her in his arms and fix things. Something in Tara knew that Snape was someone to trust to get the job done. "Dani... I... I lost her. She just left and I can't find her and I ran all over and... I lost her." Tara was in tears by the end of her breathless speech.

Snape grabbed ahold of Tara's shoulders and cast a glance over his shoulder at Dani who seemed to be watching them rather closely. "You didn't lose her," he said, trying to calm the hysterical witch. "She wandered off but, she's safe. She's here."

Tara shut up abruptly and tried to peer over Snape's shoulder, but he was bigger than her and seeming to find a perverse pleasure in being in her way. She growled a bit before demanding, "Is she well? I heard that Peeves chased her, and... is she well?"

He sighed as he dropped his hands, stepped out of her view, and gestured toward the girl, sitting in his chair. "I found her lying outside my door, a bit shaken and hungry, but unharmed."

Dani seemed small to Tara as she sat perched in Snape's chair. Tara hurried to kneel in front of the chair and give Dani a thorough inspection. "You're alright?" Dani nodded and Tara moved to sit in the chair, scooping her daughter into her lap. "You frightened me. You must never go into the castle again without an adult. Alright?"

Dani was glad to be in her mother's arms, but she frowned up at her before glancing at Snape. "I'm not a baby."

Snape watched as Tara carefully inspected and spoke with Dani. He wondered what Dani expected him to say or do when she looked at him but, he figured this was a mother-daughter moment that he should stay out of. So, he stood by the door, quietly observing.

"I know you aren't a baby, Dani, but..." TARa was at a loss for words. How could she explain to this precocious, independent child the dangers of Hogwarts? "I just want you to have someone to wander around with. The castle is big, and there are lots of people who know their way around." Tara looked over at Snape this time. "Severus, I think I need to find a babysitter." Her tone was light, but there was a fear flashing in her eyes.

Certainly she was not suggesting that he be the babysitter... But, of course, she had merely addressed her concerns to him; she said she needed to find a sitter, not that he should be said sitter. Seeing the fear in her eyes, he decided he should attempt to comfort her. "I'm sure the Headmaster could arrange that easily enough," he said.
