Harry tried to make his face as serious as he could, "I'm not laughing at you... I think it's... honoring that you would like to marry me tomorrow... I'd love to marry you tomorrow, too. And I'm not really single, you know... you are kind of my... you know... girlfriend," Harry said, turning a little red, though it wasn't clear to him why. |
"I thought we...fine..." Guin said with a sigh and smile. "I would like something to eat very much George." She added with a nod as he went off to get them both something. |
Fred reached up and brushed the back of his fingers across Hermione's cheek, but pulled it back quickly when he saw the state of his hands. They were more than a little dirty from dragging Alicia's body around and destroying the garden earlier. "Sorry..I haven't made it to a washroom yet..."Fred pulled his shirt up to try and get some of the dirt off of his fingers, but it was hopeless. He'd just have to keep his hands to his self. Fred laid his head back down, thinking. "What do you think about, Ron?" Fred asked abruptly, keeping his eyes on the ceiling above. |
"You are always welcome to stay at Hogwarts, of course. However, if these other obligations require you to be elsewhere, I suggest you complete them as soon as possible," he replied. |
Hermione felt Fred's hand on her cheek and when she shifted her gaze to meet his eyes, his hand was off her face. She was disappointed, but she noticed his hands were a little dirty... it didn't really matter to her, but it probably made him feel self-conscious enough. She saw him lift his shirt to try and clean his hands, and she averted her eyes to the ceiling. Then... he asked about Ron. For some reason, Hermione thought this might be a roundabout way of asking about what she felt for Fred. "Ron... is a very good best friend." |
Ginny kept her back to Harry and crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm not your girlfriend, Harry," she finally said in a tight voice. Her whole body was taut with tension, and she felt like she needed a round in destroying the garden. George rummaged a bit and soon came back to the table with a tin of biscuits and some fruit. "I'm not much of a cook either. Let's face it that I'm pretty much hopeless." He settled back in his chair and scooted away from Guin a bit. "My mum tells me repeatedly how much she pities the woman I'll marry someday, but I'm sure I can compensate by being an exceptional romantic," he nodded emphatically and tossed Guin an orange. |
"I will do that, then." Draco nodded and stood up. Without being asked, the Headmaster offered him the packet of documents and he took them and was about to leave, when another thought hit him. "How safe do you think the manor is?" |
Dumbledore looked at Draco for a moment before answering. "I believe it should be safe enough for the time being. If you don't feel comfortable in the manor, I'm fairly certain your father had a guest house that might prove even safer and hold less unpleasant memories for you," he said. |
Draco's eyes shot open. Of course. Why hadn't he thought of that before? "Thank you, professor. I should have asked you about this earlier." He admitted, humbling himself. "Thank you... for letting me stay here." He had never been much of a person when it came to apologies or thank yous, but he was getting better at this and he hoped the headmaster would see this. He inclined his head slightly and he left, a slightly lighter air in his step. |
Harry frowned. He had just been assuming that Ginny was his grilfriend or some type of significant other. Here she was telling him that she would marry him tomorrow, but she didn't want to be his girlfriend? "Uh... so... you're not my girlfriend. Would you like to be?" He felt so childish asking her this. It reminded him of back at Hogwarts where you would see a couple of students in the hallway, blushing madly, one trying to ask the other to go to Hogsmeade with them on the weekend. |
Ginny looked over her shoulder at Harry, who looked uncomfortable and a bit miserable, but was altogether the best thing she knew of. "We do everything backwards, don't we, Harry?" She turned around completely and walked to his side, putting her hand in his. "I know that you love me. I just don't want you to take for granted that we're together. We have to choose it, not let it choose us." |
"Okay..." Harry said, thinking about what Ginny had just said, "So is that a yes?" He asked stupidly, realizing, after he said it, that is was probably not the righ tthing to say. |
Fred felt his shoulders relax a little. He knew they had been really close before, in a more than friends way. He had seen it with his own two eyes. But, that still didn't make Fred a shoe-in. There was Krum...and not to mention that Hermione was beautiful, and graceful, and brilliant. She had a great job, and was really making something of herself. And Fred..was just Fred. Choosing his words carefully he said, "Yeah, you two have been really close for a long time now. What ever happend to Krum? You two..you talked for a while...you still see him?" Fred was trying his best to make it just sound like he was interested in a conversational way, and not the way his true intentions were. He turned over on his side and propped himself up on his arm, wile he waited on her to answer.. |
"No... we lost touch over the past few years... we would write letters. We'd write often, then not so often, then it completely stopped. The last one I got from him was sixth year at Hogwarts." Hermione wondered at his sudden interest in Ron and Viktor... but she thought she had some idea why he was asking about these things, and she smiled despite her desperate attempts not to. |
Ginny couldn't help it; she laughed but stopped immediatly, a grin being bit back the only sign of her amusement. "I suppose it's a yes, Mr. Potter. Or as close to a yes as you're going to get out of me, since this is a bit of a ridiculous conversation now that I think of it. Do you realize that you told me you loved me well before you asked me to be your girlfriend? And do you also realize that you aren't a bit romantic, are you?" She laughed again. |
Harry grinned. "I may not be romantic, but I must have done something right.... In the past two days, you have admitted that you would seduce me, marry me, and have my children within the near future." |
Guin smiled and tried not to laugh at George's comment but couldn't help it. "I'm sorry..." She said refraining herself, "I also pity the women you marry and only hope you don't steal her underwear too." Guin grinned and began peeling the orange. "Thanks." Guin added as she ate the orange slowly. Guin seemed to getting along quite nicely with George, maybe it was because Fred wasn't around...Could Fred be the downside to this twin? Guin laughed at herself, surely both twins were alike and maybe she needed to lighten up...Was Guin uptight? |
Ron peered around the doorway of the kitchen to make sure Harry and Ginny were done being... together. What he found was even better; they were gone. He sighed with relief and stepped in, noticing Tonks at the table looking stressed. He sat down across from her. "What's wrong, Tonks?" He asked. |
"Hmmm?" Tonks mumbled as she looked up. She hadn't heard anyone come in. No wonder she hadn't heard Fred and George leave that morning. "Oh, nothing really," she lied. |
"Hmm...he always freaked me out. No where near as good looking as all the gilrs made him out to be,"Fred said, believing it to be true. Fred twiddled his thumbs and rearranged his blanket, reached for his socks and pulled them off, and fluffed his pillow. He was trying to avoid some sort of awkward silence while he tried to come up with a nonchalant way of wording his next question to her. Deciding there was no easy way out, he turned over on his stomach and looked down at her. Her hair was fanned out on the pillow, little curls laying elagantly across her forehead. Fred opened and closed his eyes to get his attention back to the task at hand and said, "Well...if you and Ron are just friends, and you're not seeing Krap, I mean Krum anymore, who does the lovely Miss Granger have her eyes on? Someone at work, I bet.." |
"You're lying," Ron told Tonks. He was never one to think about the way people replied and what they actually meant, but how Tonks had answered was blatantly a lie. Hermione blushed, noticing the way Fred looked at her and not wanting to answer his question, for she knew she couldn't lie to him. "I do have my eye on someone... if you want to say it like that," Hermione said, being careful to phrase her words the right way. "It's not someone at work, though, no..." She wanted to say something else as to give him a clue without being to obvious. "He's... someone closer to home, you could say." |
Tonks shrugged, "So what? People do it all the time." She sighed and poured herself another cup of tea. "Sorry. I didn't mean to be so rude. I'm still trying to believe Dumbeldore. Your brothers may be fun but, they are so recklessly immature." |
Fred let that sink in. He was kind of hoping for a "No" so he could try and sway her his way. But, this way was more of a challenge for him, and Fred never let a good challenge go. And, Hermione was worth fighting for. He just had to figure out who he was up against, first. He'd start on that first thing in the morning. But for now, he was tired, he could still feel the throbbing lump on the back of his head, and he just wanted to lay here. Fred nodded to Hermione, letting her know that he was listening, and then said, "Well, Mione, I'm going to try and get some rest. I can walk you back to your room, or you're more than welcome to stay." Fred yawned and brushed a stray hair off her forehead while he waited on her to answer.. |
"Yes, well..." Ginny blushed at her own brazenness. "Just don't expect them in that order," she huffed a bit, but it was in good humor. There was a certain charm in the nearly charmless Harry Potter that won Ginny over every time. "No, no, no... Let me impart to you some wisdom I've learned from years of watching my parents in their own wedded bliss. Never EVER make your wife angry. And if you're going to steal clothing, you probably ought to steal everything EXCEPT her underwear." He wagged his eyebrows at Guin for a moment before realizing that although he felt comfortable with her, she wasn't his twin brother and he couldn't be unaccountably male with her like that. |
Guin laughed and smiled after, "Those are very good things to know George. Lets just hope you always remember that now." She said with a grin as she patted his hand while she had spoken it. She then let her hand linger there...What was Guin feeling? Her stomach felt weird and all jumpy...she'd only felt this way once and...nooo she couldn't be! Jerking her hand off of his right after she looked down at the table. What I doing?! She screamed at herself in her head. |
