Hermione was outside reading a book and enjoying the sunshine and thinking about things. A lot had happened within the past week and it all seemed so surreal. Almost as if it had been a dream. Luna Lovegood was dead... and because someone thought it was Ginny. Hermione had never really been too close to Luna, but it was different with Ginny. They were extremely close. Hermione didn't like being stuck in this dismal house, but if it was to save her from Luna's fate, she would accept it. And then there was Fred... everything between Hermione and he had been extremely awkward. All of the sudden Hermione was seeing him differently... in a sort of romantic way. And it seemed he might be doing the same... She slammed her book shut and laid back on the steps to Grimmauld Place. |
Guin had just woken up from a wonderful dream as she lay in her blankets. She was in love...but she never saw his face. Who was this mystery man that had been in her dream? Wondering on this she quickly showered and dressed as she walked down to the Blacks kitchen. Guin entered the kitchen still drying her hair with a towel and noticed all the people in there. Glad that the twins were no where in site she smiled, "Morning!" she said then walking to where Ron was near the sink and took a glass of juice. |
"Guin!" Ron said as he put his dishes in the sink. "You're looking quite lovely this morning.... The pancakes are really good... you should definitely try them." Ron idicated the one pancake that he had left on the stove. He had taken all of the rest... "Well... you should try.. one, rather..." He put the pancake on a plate and handed it to Guin. |
"Hello Ron...oh thanks." Guin said with a smile as she ate the last remaining pancake he had handed her. "Mmm this is really good! Did you make it Ron?" She added with a smile as the pancake disappeared into her stomach. |
"Can't you tell by how good it was?" Ron took Guin's plate and washed and dried it. He smiled at her and leaned against the counter contently. |
Guin laughed as he took her plate and washed it. The others seemed to be in their own conversations and Guin really didn't feel like butting in. "So..." Guin said turning to Ron, "What have you been up to Ron? I've seen you around but you seem to always disappear." |
Ron shrugged, "I dunno..." He told Guin. "What have YOU been up to?" He asked, raising an eyebrow as if he was accusing her of something. |
Ginny looked on in distraction as Bill and Elizabeth chatted, while Ron and Guin did as well. Harry was listening with interest to Bill and Elizabeth, but he was trying to act as if he wasn't. Ginny sighed and took her plate to the sink, where Ron immediately began to wash it. She didn't know when he'd become handy, but she certainly didn't mind. The door was cracked a bit, and Ginny left the room, nearly tripping over Hermione laying on the steps. "Hermione! You scared me!" Ginny gasped as the door shut behind her. "Are you alright?" |
Hermione jumped a little and turned around to find Ginny. "Oh! Ginny... you scared me... yes... I'm fine. I was just... thinking. It's quite nice outside with the sun. I can't stand being in that dark house for so long." |
Ginny sat down next to Hermione and wrapped her arms around her knees. "I know what you mean. I've spent the past few days out here in the garden, not because I enjoy the work but because its clean and bright out here." She tilted her head back and let the sun shine on her face. "I hate it here. I didn't hate it so much when I stayed here before, but now I do." |
Hermione nodded. Ginny completely understood. "That's it exactly. But, you know... I'd rather stay here and be miserable than... well, die..."She said, turning to look at Ginny. |
Ginny looked at Hermione without turning her head. "I don't want to die either. I don't want anyone to die. I wish Harry didn't have to fight some upcoming battle against Voldemort. But I'm the spoiled youngest child with six older brothers and I'm used to getting my way, so I'm slow in coming to terms that I have no say in any of it." Ginny's tone was clearly sarcastic. |
Hermione simply nodded... sometimes Ginny said things that she just didn't know how to respond to. Sensing a need for a slight change of subject, Hermione said, "Hey Gin... so you and Harry... are...?" |
Ginny nodded tentatively. "I don't know exactly what we are or where we're going, but I guess I can admit that I've never loved anyone but him. And I do love him, even though I hate the way he closes down on me when things get tough. I'm lucky that he loves me too, but I feel for Elizabeth." |
"Harry's always been like that, though... I guess he just wants to keep his emotions to himself. He doesn't like sharing much... at least the things that hurt him deeply. He should learn to do that, but being as stubborn as he is, he probably won't," Hermione said. |
"I think he'll need to," Ginny responded quietly. "I love him, but I don't know if I can sit by and be totally excluded from his life everytime something bad happens. That's not what I was raised to do, and I don't know how to deal with being alone like I was when Luna died. If I hadn't been here and surrounded by you all, if it had been just Harry and I..." Ginny shivered and shook her head. It wasn't bearable to think about how lonely she'd felt when Harry had closed down on her. |
"I haven't been UP to anything. Just around the house...helping your mother make this place liveable again." Guin told Ron as she took a sip of her juice. "Maybe I need some air...it's kinda crowded. Or maybe I'll just go back up to my room, they'll probably be back soon.." Guin added with a frown. |
Hermione studied Ginny for a few seconds. "Well, Harry does love you, you know. So, maybe he'll open up to you. He just has a hard time with letting people see his emotions... but I think if he does it once with you, he'll feel comfortable. You need to let him know he can talk to you... and I know you do. Like, with Luna... he felt personally responsible and maybe he just didn't want to tell that to someone else." Hermione sidghed, stood up, and stretched. |
"They?" Ron asked. "Do you mean Fred and George? What's wrong with them coming back?" Then some things clicked into place in Ron's head. He had heard soemthing about Fred and George stealing the girls' underwear. "Oooooh... did they take your underwear?" Ron asked, trying to supress his smile. |
Snape had to be careful not to let out a sigh of relief when the Dark Lord, instead of motioning for the two Weasleys, decided to punish the two late comers who had walked up behind them. After some more discussion, the Dark Lord revealed a small piece of his plan to strike out at Albus Dumbledore: They were finally ready to take over Hogwarts. He would not reveal any details, for security reasons, and the Death Eaters were dismissed, knowing that their part in the plan would be revealed in time, and individually. |

Ginny stared up at Hermione, having to shade her eyes from the glare of the sudden sun. "I can't MAKE him open up to me, Herm. I've told him I'm here, and... I don't know." Ginny slumped down again, staring at her shoe tops poking out from the legs of her trousers. "I have all I ever wanted from teh world. How is it possible that it doesn't seem enough?" |
"Aw... Ginny..." Hermione sat on the backs of her feet in front of Ginny now. "Harry loves you... that's all you really need to know, and when he feels comfortable, he'll open up." She gave Ginny a quick hug and stood back up. "Why don't we go try to find somehting fun to do?" |
George tugged on Fred's sleeve and jerked his head towards the exit. The two young men made their way towards the door amidst the throng, although George couldn't resist the temptation to look back over his shoulder and take in Alicia's still form one last time. The image of her still form made him shudder, and George bumped into the person in front of him in his distraction. |
Ginny willingly pushed her doubts aside and rose to her feet. "What did you have in mind? We can't leave the house or grounds, and we've just determined that the house is dreary. Maybe we could take a page out of the twins' book and get up to some great mischief." |
