Video: Dan Radcliffe narrates Holocaust survivors documentary (UPDATED)
Daniel Radcliffe lent his voice as narrator for a short piece entitled The Legacy of Hope, which focused on three Holocaust victims who spoke of their survival and escape to the U.K. The video can be watched below.
The film introduces us to three survivors who have made their home in the U.K. Each contributor shares with us a personal story of loss, survival, recovery and strength and Daniel Radcliffe sets each story in its historical context. The film ends with the three survivors asking viewers to carry their messages of hope into the future and encourage us all to become part of The Legacy of Hope and work together to build a fairer and more inclusive world. The film works best when viewed as a whole because it is important to show that there are many different narratives within the issues raised by HMD (Holocaust Memorial Day).
Anyone in the UK interested in receiving a free DVD of the video can do so by e-mailing: enquiries@hmd.org.uk.
UPDATE: Dan spoke about his involvement in the piece:
Quote:
"When I was approached to narrate this short film, The Legacy of Hope, I felt very privileged. I felt that in a very small way I was contributing to the remembrance of these tragic and horrendous events, whilst also commemorating all those people who refused to let the horrors they had lived through dictate the tone of the rest of their lives.
“The surest shield we have against future atrocities is our knowledge and our emotional understanding of what has happened in the past. The chance to help the vital work done by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust could not be turned down."
So sad that humanity came to such a thing during WWII. Thinking of the Holocaust always brings tears to my eyes...and after visiting the Musuem of Tolerance, I know that these people certainly had more courage than I could ever muster. God bless all those people...
And good for Dan...he's makes us fans proud to call him a role model. On a lighter note, I wouldnt even have known that was Dan if SS didnt report it as being him. His voice is so much more soothing and calm as apposed to his normal fast quirky voice...first time I ever heard him take a breath.

Very cool of him.
The Holocaust is/was so horrible, I always find myself wondering how so many people can watch innocent men, women and children die - and think it's ok. I just can't wrap my brain around it...
This was very moving... the story of how the lady as a child kept her mothers pendent hidden in the soul of her shoe was just inspirational. All of those stories were just amazing but i guess not for the right reasons. These people show how hope can truely keep your life worth living for.
Dan did a good job aswell. x

I love the way Dan uses his fame for good causes. This video was so sad that it made me cry. Unfortunately, some world leaders haven't learned from history's lessons and their own fate for causing genocide, and their brutality continues to this day. I wish for a day when all men, women, and children are free, and that all humans peacefully coexist on this planet.
I'm happy for him that he got to be apart of that film. It was very moving and the way that they did the background graphics really hit the mark.
Like... how the girl was talking about being in the truck thing and then it like... transformed into her being in the truck and stuff. That was really smart.
I've watched a LOT of these kind of videos at school and stuff- but this one was really interesting and touching.
And yeah- Dan's voice made me pay attention a bit more (sad, I know).
wow
Im speechless every time i see something about the holocaust i dont know what to say
it was just such an awful thing that i can't even put words to describe it
