Video: Comprehensive Harry Potter For Kinect game for XBox 360 out this fall
Warner Bros announced today that they will be releasing an interactive video game for the XBox 360 called Harry Potter For Kinect, where fans can use the motion-play of the Kinect technology to play as their favourite characters, or even original ones, throughout Harry's storyline in the seven books and subsequent eight movies. More on the game, out this fall, can be read in the press release below.
UPDATE: Warner Bros IE released a video trailer of the game, giving a better look at how players can immerse themselves as a unique character walking through Hogwarts and beyond int he wizarding world.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom will cast a spell among Harry Potter fans of all ages this fall with the Harry Potter for Kinect videogame exclusively on Kinect(TM) for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Based on all eight Harry Potter films, Harry Potter for Kinect allows players to join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they embark on an unforgettable journey through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and beyond. With Kinect's scanning technology, for the first time ever in a Harry Potter game, players will be able to scan in their own face to create a unique witch or wizard to journey through the adventures of the film.
In addition, Kinect's hands-free and voice recognition capabilities allow gamers to cast spells using physical maneuvers and by calling out spell names, offering an extraordinary, immersive Harry Potter experience.
"Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favorite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and duelling other wizards."
Harry Potter for Kinect gives players the opportunity to experience some of the films' most memorable moments, both as the relevant characters or as their own avatars, including visiting Ollivanders, choosing a house at Hogwarts, and confronting He Who Must Not Be Named in a climactic final battle. Players who master their lessons can also take on their opponents in competitive mini-games, or join forces with family and friends in co-op gameplay.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
I played a Kinect at Best Buy once and didn't much care for it. It's good to see the Harry Potter franchise still getting attention in video game form, but I hope they go for making AAA titles instead of mere cash ins on the Harry Potter name.
In all honesty, this looks to be nothing more than a mini game collection, it probably sums up the entire 7 book/8 movie experience into something lasting 5 hours.
I mean, I remember playing the first two Harry Potter games ( I played 'til the 5th game) and it really is better!
For a current 360 HD video game, the graphics should really be much, much better. The LEGO games had much better graphics than this. I want a Harry Potter game with lifelike graphics, which is possible in this generation.
Yes! I was so excited for the last two Harry Potter games that came out on kinect but I was really disappointed. I hope this one is more like I expected. It looks like more fun than the DH parts 1 and 2 on the xbox.

Agreed! Most Xbox 360 graphics are better than this. I am also somewhat dissapointed that you make your character by playing for yourself. I mean, come on! It is just like Pottermore, where you don't actually MAKE a character like what you get to do in Avatar. Thirdly, it is dissapointing that this new game will be a collection of min-games. I would have liked it better if they did one by one.
Still, nice to see that Harry Potter games are still coming out. Though of course...they will come out as long as we pay for them.
