Video: Chris Columbus & Alan Rickman discuss casting Snape in Sorcerer's Stone
Warner Bros has released another exclusive video from the Ultimate Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, this time focusing on the very enigmatic Professor Severus Snape. Dan Radcliffe talks about how intimidated he was filming early scenes with Alan Rickman, who plays Snape in the series. Chris Columbus and Alan himself reminisce on how the role was cast ten years ago. It can be viewed below.
The Ultimate Editions, which will be out tomorrow, can be pre-ordered via the following links:
My order shipped from Amazon today. *Big loud huge girly squeal* Might I just also give a great big huge THANK YOU to Tim Roth for deciding to do Planet of the Apes, thereby dropping himself out of consideration for the role of Snape and giving it to the most deliciously, perfectly RIGHT actor for the part.
I love Alan Rickman! He is perfect as Snape! Exactly who I imagine when I read the books. And his voice is so unique and smooth and low, just perfect! And he was great in Sense and Sensibility too!
I can't imagine anyone else playing him
But I still like Tim Roth, I bet every time box office numbers come out he kicks himself for going with Planet of the Apes instead. And then Gary Oldman teases him about it.
Brilliant portrayal of Alan Rickman as Snape ! The way that man speaks is so perfect and scary! To me maybe the best casted person for the roll in all HP! I love him!
when i first read the books, four people came to mind instantly. Alan Rickman as Snape, just reading the characterisation in the books reminded me of an early role of his. Slope in the Barchester Chronicles. I alwys thought JK must have watched that tv series and got the idea for Snape. Maggie Smith for Prof McGonagle, Robbie Coltrane for Hagrid and much later Imelda Staunton for Umbridge. I love the young Daniel's reaction to working with Mr Rickman.
