Universal Studios Hollywood, Warner Bros to have Butterbeer toast, big announcement
 

Universal Parks & Resorts is hosting a Butterbeer toast at Universal Studios Hollywood to celebrate a very special announcement this Tuesday at 11am PST. The event will highlight an array of news that will have significant impact on the Southern California economy, job creation and tourism industry. Even more exciting news will also be revealed. We will have full coverage of the events, and official announcement, as soon as they are revealed. Those to attend at Universal Studios Hollywood in California include:

Universal Studios president and chief executive officer Ron Meyer, Warner Bros chairman and chief executive officer Barry Meyer, California Governor Jerry Brown, Universal Parks & Resorts chairman and CEO Tom Williams, Universal Studios Hollywood president Larry Kurzweil, Universal Creative president Mark Woodbury, and other executives.

I am excited that they are building one in California, but I still need to go to the one in Florida haha. I don't get to until 2013.

I read an article that they are making an exact replica of the Wizarding World in California and that it will open in 2015!!! I am so excited since I am so much closer!

A bit of scuttlebutt on Universal-Florida:

Universal's facility planning has been locked in for Potter at USO, so Amity (Jaws area) WILL become Potter part 2--they are just working out details with WB and Rowling before they can actually get building. WWOHP at USO may eventually expand to cover the entire area from what used to be Amity (Jaws) to the wild west stage/fear factor stage, and will likely be executed in two stages (the train and USO park area were meant to be phase 3 but have been moved up to phase 2, phase three may incorporate expansion in IOA itself but that has not been resolved yet.)

The area at USO will be comprised of the Wizarding London areas- King's cross, Diagon alley, Knockturn, the Leaky Cauldron, the film-Ollivanders, etc, and Gringott's-- which is exciting, because it will likely feature a dark ride roller coaster themed to Gringott's gobliln carts. Additionally, they will utilize the 3d tunnel technology they developed for Kong 3D 360 either in a Knight Bus ride (unlikely) or more likely, on the Hogwart's Express ride between parks.

Phase 3 will be when they actually expand IOA's Potter experience beyond just adding the Express train to London... No details have been locked in enough to talk about on that, though.

Keep in mind that all this is not confirmed until/unless Universal issues an official press release, and subject to lots of change. But my source, it is an excellent, very reliable one, so I think it's fair to look forward to good things!

These rumors have definitely been easing the pain of Orlando no longer being the only Potter destination in the US. So my fingers are crossed that the expansion is definitely far from a rumor! :harry3:

Oh, the Hollywood expansion is definitely 'official' - the announcement today makes it so. So there WILL be a Wizarding World at Universal Hollywood. But I imagine that they will build somewhat evenly, so all these things I posted about Universal Studios Orlando will likely also be present in the Hollywood edition as well, for continuity's sake (assuming that these unofficial rumored plans actually become reality, of course. But my source is pretty darn good.)
