| | |  Second Harry Potter theme park set to be built at Universal Studios Hollywood
The Wall Street Journal has stated that a formal announcement will be made in the coming days to reveal that the second Harry Potter theme park will be at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, and possibly the second of many to come. The first of course was the ever-successful Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Fl, which opened in June 2010. We will have much more on this, including the official statement, and all future news pertaining to possible new theme parks.  NBCUniversal is planning to expand its Los Angeles theme park with a section devoted to the "Harry Potter" franchise, according to people familiar with the matter, hoping to repeat the success of a similar attraction at NBCU's Orlando, Fla., resort.
The new "Harry Potter" addition in the Los Angeles park, Universal Studios Hollywood, will likely resemble the one in Florida, these people say, which includes a Hogwarts Castle, roller coasters, and several Potter-themed restaurants including the Hog's Head tavern, which serves butterbeer, as in the books.
If the new section succeeds, more "Potter" attractions could open in other parts of the world where Universal has theme parks, including Japan, Singapore, and Spain, say people close to Universal.
UPDATE: The LA Times is reporting that the theme park deals are being made, and that "the new attraction is expected to open at Universal Studios Hollywood no earlier than 2015." Again, more on this will be revealed once an official announcement is made, which as stated, by both publications, will be very soon. UPDATE #2: Variety is reporting that the estimated cost of the new theme park will be around $200 million, over $50 million less than Orlando's first Harry Potter attraction. The publication also noted that another international market being eyed by Universal for an expansion is South Korea, in addition to Spain, Singapore, and Japan, as reported above by the Wall Street Journal. Again, we will have much more on this development, including an official announcement, hopefully very soon.  | |

Yeah, true. I'm just wondering if they are going to make it the same or not because I don't really see the point but knowing universal and harry potter, the more money for them the better! haha :p
It's also an excuse for me to visit Cali. but I wish they would make it way more different...but since Orlando is expanding it's park, not much would be there to add other than to duplicate it. Quote:

Sadly, from the looks of it, there needs to be a Universal Studios in the UK in order for a HP park to happen. Then again, the UK already has the Studio Tour, so they mostly likely won't need a theme park when they have the real deal.  You're right. but would it necessarily have to be under universal? Maybe since they signed a legal agreement, yeah but with the tour there, It would be amazing if they added on to that.

AshleyWheat as for it being here and a duplicate.... everyone can't afford to go to Orlando and there is a park already here to expand instead of building another one. Since you are in Oklahoma you now have a choice of which coast to fly to. :-D
