As much as i want Harry Potter's series to continue, i have to agree with EmmaRiddle. It's the author's decision alone, I'm sure she has ambitions to write other books, unrelated to Harry Potter. People should learn to respect that, no matter what.

Sherlock Holmes was a series that had no expected end. Star Trek was brought back the same way, and had no expected end, so it was okay. This is the finishing of a story. Pure and simple. It had a set end, and it's reaching it. It's silly to try and ask for more. If I want something a little fresh and new, there will be plenty of fanfiction out there. And heck, a lot of those writers are pretty good.

Haha... I just checked the list and two 'names' on the "last 100" on there are I h8 Harry Potter and DIE HARRY DIE. I mean, not that I have any love for Harry haters, but I have a feeling that list is gonna have to be checked a few times.

I'd like to read more HP after DH, but if Jo wants it to end, then let her let it end. We've demanded over a decade from her life, so let her end HP if she wants to. I doubt it, but she may end up writing more after HP. Who knows. But I definately think they need to let Jo do her own thinking.

I agree ^, It is tempting, but all good things do have to end at some point. and it is Jo's choice. So, I'm not signing .

Plus, Jo's had this ending in mind since she started the books.. lets leave it as it is, HP is ending. but that doesn't always have to be a bad thing.

These are the people who read the books, yet don't bother to understand them. It's rude, ignorant, and stupid. I agree with you Emma.

Let Harry Potter come to an end. Look what happened with the Prequels Lucas made for Star Wars. They're still good, but they're lacking the quality of the previous 3 movies. I don't think we want Jo to just go on writing HP cos we want her to, that takes the love out of the story, and quality stinks. Let her end it and go on to other works.

The series has such a clear point: get rid of Voldemort. It's unlike Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, etc, in that way, and once Voldemort is destroyed, the story has ended. People need to get over it. JKR knows her story better than anyone, and I don't really think people have a right to demand more.

It is annoying but I find it a good idea. But---- we all have to except the end and NOT sign it. -pokes A-

I hardly think creating a petition like this is "rude" and "disrespectful" - it just shows how much fans love the series, connect with the characters, and RESPECT JKR's writing. How many authors see this much loyalty and interest from their fans, even when they've declared their most well-known work will come to an end? I think it's a legitimate plea from people who are huge fans and truly don't want to see the series end. Nothing wrong with that.

With that said, I won't be signing the petition either. I'll be sad that there won't be another book to look forward to after DH, but I'm happy that it's ending here. JKR seemed to have always planned to take the books through Harry's career at Hogwarts (which is 7 years), the number seven is prominent in the books, and it just seems about time to wrap things up. I would never want more books than she planned (or wanted) to write at the risk of watering down her vision. If now is the time that she wants to end Harry's literary journey (not saying his actual journey, lol, since we still don't know how things will turn out!), I'm fine with that. It's up to her and, because we are fans, I think we should make every effort to understand and accept that.

But still - if you feel passionately about the books continuing, sign the petition. That's what they're made for!

Just because HP is over doesn't mean JK Rowling will never write another book on something else. I, for one, am almost more interested to see where that plot might go.

I think the petition is a bit disrespectful... if JK wants to end the series, she can. Petitioning her to change her mind and write more books seems... pointless? How well written do you think the book will be if she really wanted it to end during the last book? Nope, nope, I'm glad this series is coming to an end.

Sometimes its just hard for people to accept good things to come to an end especially something as big as harry potter.....its all up to jo but i dont think there will be need for more books after the 7th there really is no point

jeez. i hate that its ending. over the years ive been a fan ive grown attached to the characters and their trials and tribulations but just like in real life, you have to learn to let go. With the end of the harry potter series does not mean its going away completely. i have 7 boooks to look back on and re read and harry, ron, and hermione will always live in those pages no matter the outcome of the 7th and final book. just like with dumbledore. while hes no longer around, you still are able to read the pervious books and hes back. harry potter will grow up and we will have no more adventures, but he will never die.
