Waterstone's have launched a website with an online petition (saveharrypotter.co.uk) against the end of Harry Potter. The campaign is designed to encourage J.K.Rowling to write further novels. Quote:

I'd love to have a prequel, but every author is entitled to decide what to do with their pens, and not to get typecasted with only one storyline.
As many have said, that's Jo's decision to make.

My sentiments exactly. How selfish and greedy to demand that this one person keeping writing for purely their content. It's ridiculous. If Rowling wants to write more, she'll write more and it'll be of her own fruition, not based on some petition. | |

Although I don't want the Potter series to end, I don't think people should be acting like this. I mean, I don't think they should go on with their lives moping either because there will be that sad time when the final movie is done and we're all sad, but we really should respect what Jo decides, this is hers and we should respect that.... | |

que sera sera. as much as i love hp, i kind of want the series to end...that's how it's always supposed to have been, and i feel like if she didn't do that it would be like, selling out or something. also, it might be nice to have some closure. but whatever jk decides will be alright with me.

I agree, it's JK books not theirs, she's worked for years on them and deserves some time off from her work. She'll write more books, which we'll fall in love with and they'll stop complaining.

What amuses me the most is that everyone's all upset for the people signing ... but did anyone else notice that it's a book company that started the petition? Anyone ever considered that they made the website in hopes that JK will cave in and they'll get to sell more of her novels, and make more money? Quote:

No matter how we encourage or discourage her, it won't work. Jo's mind is set on one thing: not make any more sequels. It's not our work, all we do is read them and enjoy them. Love them. We do not tell the beloved author to write more.
