| | | The Truth About Miss Watson's Dress
As it turns out, the lovely dress worn by Emma Watson at the London 'Goblet of Fire' Premiere last week was previously owned! The UK's Telegraph reports: Quote:
The cream silk chiffon gown, embroidered with gold sequins, which Emma wore at last week's premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, originally belonged to the "screen goddess" Anna May Wong
Quote:
Like Emma, Miss Wong, pictured in a similar dress, stood at 5ft 6in and also started her acting career as a child star, in a silent film, The Red Lantern - produced in 1919 she was 13.
Quote:
This is where the similarities end. Miss Wong, who died in 1961, was known by film critics as a seductress, exotic temptress, a femme fatale, whereas Emma has been described as a "happy-go lucky girl next door".

But wearing a vintage dress that has not be worn for decades? Well, that's something you will need to be careful about because dresses like those are hard to come by (and expensive!) unless you could professionaly sow it yourself, unless the materials that dress requires are hard to come by as well.
But anyways, I bet that dress looks lovely. I would love to have atleast one vintage dress, no matter who previously worn it.
Minutes later....
...Well, when I took a look at that dress in the pics, I thought she was wearing all black. When I took a closer look, it was midnight blue/navy. I stay true to my words. Quite fitting. And Dan? He looks kinda weird in that suit and that new haircut. Maybe it was just his eyes? Oops....I'm getting a little off topic here. Sorry.

I thought she was abit arrogant to say "this is a vintage dress made for an on screen goddess, i thought it was appropriate for me to wear it". She is no where near a 'screen goddess', someone's head seems to have inflated with all this media attention, because she isnt that great an actress to begin with.

To tell y'all the truth, I like Emma's dress better than what Katie was wearing to the premiere. And wow, that dress has quite a history...

I don't find it at all creepy, That's a vintage dress is. From earlier times, which means it was worn by someone else. It's not like she died with the dress on or anything.

They must really think a lot of Emma's acting ability to allow her to wear such a famous dress at such a young age! Yay for Emma!

Who cares people wear vintage dresses all the time. Vintage usually being worn at least once before, if it looks good then I say wear it!!!!

Does it really matter that someone else wore the dress? Personally, I think that the people who are saying "Ew.. I wouldn't want to wear a dress that sombody else wore.." is pretty stupid. I mean, it's a one-of-a-kind dress. It's totally different than if you go to Homecoming or Prom or something and you see three other girls wearing the same dress right then and there.
And it's just a beautiful dress, so who cares?

Oh really!? Whats it like on mars?
Even though she is a good actress in HP, if you compare her to other actresses of her age, she is just mediocre, Emily Browning for example, she is much much better than Emma, she doenst over exaggerate her facial expressions. Well, i can say one thing is true, she is a screen goddess in HP, but certainly not in the whole acting industry! I am not being a hater, Emma is one of my favourite actresses, but im just saying that the comment she made was abit out of hand, since she doesnt have a string of movies behind her belt (let alone being the main character), and she alludes to herself being an onscreen goddess, i say MEH!

Wow, interesting.
But I still hate the dress. Especially with the shoelace on her head.

For Pete's sake, you guys make it sound like Emma took the dress off Anna May Wong's dead body!
My first reaction when I saw the picture was that Emma looked like a Greek goddess. And her "screen goddess" comment refers to Miss Wong, not herself. "It was made for a screen goddess." It was made for Anna May Wong. "It was appropriate for me to wear it." Rather than some other dress.
Come on, people, aren't we Emma's fans? So what's up with all these negative comments?

I had no idea about the dress! It's cool that she was able to wear it. It's kind of similar to previously owned books - those are the ones with the true stories.
