Internet Movie Database lists Steve Kloves as the screenwriter for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Kloves has written all of the Harry Potter screenplays, except for Order of the Phoenix.
This is a rumor at this point. There has been no official announcement from Warner Bros.
The site also lists the release year for the film as 2010. | |

Let's see how he does this time. Pressure is ON if you're actually doing the 7th movie! If he messes up on the final movie (which seems so far away now that I think of it, the book isn't even out for another 6 months... 6 MONTHS?! Wow...), well that's just not good...
He's ok, but so far the movies just seem to have gotten progressively worse with being close to the book (I find, you might not).
He COMPLETELY cut out Sir Cadogan! Sure it was just bulk but even a small bit... I was looking forward to seeing him (in PoA)... least Buckbeak made up for it but still...
I won't be surprised if he will be the screenwriter but overall I just hope he does a good job if he does write it.
2010? That'd ROCK cause that's both Vancouver Winter Olympics year (I'm in Canada), AND I'm graduating that year!
But 2010 is a bit to close for that to happen. The book hasn't even comeout yet...
And it's already 2007.
The next movie isn't coming out til sometime late next year (Half-Blood Prince movie I mean), so I don't see it being til like, 2011-2012...
Wow.... that's far into the future yet not that close at the same time.
Double digits soon! (the '11' in '2011' type of thing)

Eugh!! Please no. I had high hopes that at least one of these movies screenplay wouldn't be complete crap. I'm holding out for the guy doing OotP but I don't know yet, he may not be good either. Jeez, can't they see that he's the main thing wrong with the series now. Everything else is so good now. The acting is better, the cinematography and special effects and the directing are getting excellent. Can't they tell the reasons the movies aren't up to par is because they're still dragging along the horrible screenplay writer. He may be good for other movies but he can't write HP movies, in my humble opinion.
I also hate when people say "He did the best he could". Why would we want someone writing the series when the best compliment he can get is that he did the best he could. Shouldn't we get someone that people say "He did an amazing job with the screenplay." The best so far has been PoA and that's probably because it was extensively re-written by Alfonso Cuaron. I don't know if that shouldn't have been a wake up call.

Ok people. What is with the Kloves bashing? Hasn't he done a good job, actually sticking with the books? And everything he has done has been with JK anyway. Plus we haven't even got this book yet. Give him a chance. He hasn't done OotP so we'll see what you guys say after this one.
Just give the poor guy a break. He has spent years on this series. He doesn't deserve all the harsh treatment.
I can't wait.

I don't see whats wrong with Steve either The Doctor. What makes for a great reading dosn't alway make for a flowing movie. Of course things had to change in the movie versions. I think he has done a wonderful job, and he's done it with J.K.'s approval. I wouldn't mind haveing someone else to it for a change of pace though. 2010 is a long time to wait to, I wish it could be a little sooner.

I'm with the general concenseus on this one. Not a fan of his work so far. But in the end i think we're too far into the series to go changing the major crew. The second half of the films just wont feel right. I'd rather them all have the same tendencies in them then switch now and it not really carry on right.

I dont think Kloves is that bad!
I liked the first four movies, and besides the fifth one *the one he hasnt done* isnt out as yet!
Though i do admit that he's ruined the total image of Ron and giving Hermione his lines was the worst.
He'd be okay if he wasnt so prejudiced against Ron,  I think he is

well I dont know he has done OK (hasnt he?)I dont think hes done such a horrific job but admidtly he did ruin GOFand POA.I think that if they bring Columbus back he will be better.Because the movies that columbus directed were way better then the other two.Maybe he doesnt work well with the other directors.
But siriously if he does ruin DH.I personally will go and hunt him down and make him pay.
