Rumoured OotP release date: July 13th 2007 [updated]
 

Box Office Mojo has the release date for 'Order of the Phoenix' listed as July 13th 2007.

The last official word we heard on the issue came ten days ago from David Heyman who said the release date was slated for either Summer or Autumn 2007. It is also still early days; 'Order of the Phoenix' has only been filming for about 2 months.

As such this 'release date' remains a rumour until it is confirmed or denied by WB.

Interestingly according to BOM His Dark Materials is slated for November 2007. Could we possibly see a repeat of the HP Vs LotR hubbub with those new films? Worth pondering, I think. I can't see the film being released in July personally.

*ponders* I'm not sure how I feel about that. Of course I want to see the movie ASAP, but I kind've like HP in November. *ducks*

I don't know, I hope is no true, if it is true they are not going to do that well in the box office, there are too many movies that are going to be release that summer, too much competition.

I can't see it being released in July either, Emma. Seems completely random, actually. I say if it's not a June release, they'll go straight for November. Early June always gives it a chance to get money before the summer blockbusters start to hit, so in July would pin it up against a lot of good movies. And of course November always gives it a chance. Every Potter film released in November has done well.

Both July and November will have competition. His Dark Materials has a huge following too. But yeah PoA did worse because of the timing.

Anyway I've emailed asking about this so hopefully we'll hear something. I doubt they will have set anything in stone yet though, it's too early.

i still think that is a loonngggg time for now but i guess that i can wait

Yeah, Summer will have the blockbusters but His Dark Materials is fantasy, hence the LotR-type comparison. Could have the same affect. The media would definitely pit the two films against each other if both were to be released the same time. HDM is due 16/11/2007 according to BOM. The Bourne Ultimatum in the Summer. From the looks of that chart WB doesn't have anything major out in the Autumn so it'd make sense to keep HP there.

It's a very popular book series [trilogy] by Phillip Pullman. Kids fantasy. They recently did a national open casting call in the UK for the main female role. More info can be found here. haha and it's being made by the same company as LotR. The comparisons continue...lmao.

Yeah, that's what they usually do. I think Disney tried it with Narnia vs. HP, but it just never took. Both were great films, but can't be compared. It'll be interesting next year to see how it all goes down.

I actually read one article where they said Narnia took over a niche that Harry Potter had moved on from; the young kid audience which Potter had shifted away from as the series matured. I'd kind of disagree with that because both worlds are adored by kids, teens and adults alike. Just thought it was an interesting spanner to throw into the works.

I really hope it come out then. I can do c it 4 my b-day even if it's 8 days l8r. I CAN'T WAIT!!

There's also the little matter of book 7. The last release date was July 16th. Would they really want a book and a movie out at the same time? I reckon that'd be overkill personally. I think many a fan's head would explode just contemplating the amount of ecstasy one would experience, should such a weekend occur.

thats so far away but i think they shouldnt release it in july i mean not only will it be against summer blockbusters but it will be up against itself (the book) which is bad for us because usually a book comes out we talk about it for a months or two then the movie comes out and we're happy again! oh well its to soon to tell.......

I don't think they should release it in July but waiting until November seems too long. It's almost guaranteed that JK will release book 7 on the 7/7/07. Who wouldn't? I don't think the book and the movie should come out at the same time.

IMDB rely on information submitted largely by internet users and isn't therefore always reliable. As WB have said, no date is yet decided.

They are due to finish Oct/Nov 2006 and they do need at least 6 months for post-production. They waited ages for GoF which finished filming in March and was released in November.

2007 will be here before we know it

I find the date a bit unbelievable. June or November yes but July, no. None of the movies have been released during that month. I doubt it'll start now.

Why is it that we have to wait so long between the films?? By the time that they are done filming with the last book, the main actors/actresses are going to be too old to play 17 year olds? (although I don't want to see anyone else play Ron, Harry and Hermione).

I'm gunning for november!! I dont want to see it July I know, that sounds awful but i will be on summer vacation... I dont want to have to go somewhere in a foreign place to see it... I want to be in the same theatre I have seen all the other ones in. I had no idea what His Dark Materials I guess it isn't that popular in Canada.... i dunno, maybe i just live a sheltered life... ne way I hope november and I love those moments when you are talking about the book between it and the movie!!

I'm kinda think we'll find out something for sure on both the movie and the book by Christmas. The movie should be complete or darn close by then and Warner Brothers likes to get their fans ready. As for Jo she likes to give her fans Christmas presents, hopefully this year it will be the 7th book is finished and it will be published ???! I never believe the book rumors till I hear it from her!

Firstly post-production and pre-production take quite a bit of time on big projects such as HP. Additionally the kids have to have time off between films for school as well during shooting for exams.

better come out soon....i cant wait dude!

When the 7th movie comes out they are gonna be like in there 20's!!!

the reson we have to wait so long is because it takes them a year and a half basicaly to each movie cause all the stunts they do and grafics and making the script!! :wizard:

Well, it's the end of March 2006...it's gonna be at least 15 months or something....jeez....that sounds like an extremely long time....can't wait!!!

I think it would be better if instead of releasing it in July next year, they'd release it in November, *next* year. HP films do a lot better at the end of the year than during summer, or maybe they're hoping PoA was a fluke.

The actual filming takes about 10 months. The entire process including pre and post production comes to about 18 months, yes.
