| | | Rowling still undecided on the title of book 7
J.K.Rowling has updated her website; specifically the news section, the diary and the extra stuff area.
In the news, Jo tells us she's still busy writing book 7, which at the moment doesn't have a title as she is still deciding between two potential names. Quote:
The heightened security restrictions on the airlines in August made the journey back from New York interesting, as I refused to be parted from the manuscript of book seven (a large part of it is handwritten, and there was no copy of anything I had done while in the US). They let me take it on, thankfully, bound up in elastic bands. I don't know what I would have done if they hadn't; sailed home, probably.
I am currently trying to decide between two possible titles. I was quite happy with one of them until the other one struck me while I was taking a shower in New York. They would both be appropriate, so I think I'll have to wait until I'm further into the book to decide which one works best.
In her diary, Jo apologises for not updating lately (she's been busy writing a book, you see) and briefly makes a mention about her recent trip to New York.
In the extra stuff section she notes a question that has never been put to her by fans, but one she expected them to ask. Quote:
Why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak at the time of James' death, given that Dumbledore could make himself invisible without a cloak?
Prior to posting this I had a quick look on-line, and realised that some fans have been speculating about this question. However, nobody has ever asked me about it, and they really should have done. Just to allay the fears of the justifiably suspicious, this isn't what we in the know call 'a Mark Evans situation.'* There IS a significant - even crucial - answer.

Oh, I do wish she'd set a title for the book and a projected release date soon! The anticipation is killing me! But, I do suppose part of being a true fan is waiting, even if it means waiting impatiently.

Well, I understand, Joanne is very busy for witing Harry, and the hardest work is choosing the title. But I dont hope the title is released far from the book release. It's look... strange. Title shows the content. Of course we could know what will happen on the content. I hope the title released....about 2-3 months before book release. But that's just what I thinking about.....

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jeremy Bradford Fifth Year | "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not." Oh. I can't wait to see what she decides to title it. I'm sure it'll be a good title since her's usually are. That's kinda funny about her almost not being able to take her writing on the plane. I guess security really has gotten stricter since the last time I went flying.

Cool, she's close to deciding a title. You know that means she's really getting to the juicy parts of the 7th book. I also like the interesting question about the invisibility cloak. I've been wondering about that since I first read the books.

| The Un-answered Question!!!!
I don't think we'll get to know the title until the book is closer to being release. But I wish we had a clue! Quote:
In a recent update to JK's site In the extra stuff section she notes a question that has never been put to her by fans, but one she expected them to ask. Why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak at the time of James' death, given that Dumbledore could make himself invisible without a cloak?
Prior to posting this I had a quick look on-line, and realized that some fans have been speculating about this question. However, nobody has ever asked me about it, and they really should have done. Just to allay the fears of the justifiably suspicious, this isn't what we in the know call 'a Mark Evans situation.'* There IS a significant - even crucial - answer.
Now from an AOL chat on October 19, 2000 JK said: "Where did James get his Invisibility Cloak?
That was inherited from his own father-- a family heirloom!"
So Jame's family has had the cloak for years.
Invisibility cloaks are very rare and expensive, and they are made from the pelts of Demiguises, magical herbivores that are found in the Far East. They are rated XXXX - Dangerous / requires specialist knowledge / skilled wizard may handle in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Demiguies are able to make itself invisable when threatened and can only be seen by wizard's skilled in it's capture. Known Owners of cloaks are:
*Mad-Eye Moody (who is known to possess two; one of these is borrowed by Sturgis Podmore in the course of work for the Order); he can see through them with his magical blue eye.
*Harry Potter; the original owner of this cloak was his father.
*Bartemius Crouch, who uses it to hide his son.
This is definitely not a "normal" item any wizard can purchase at the robe shop. So I would also assume that there isn't a large number of cloaks around. Maybe only a few more than the ones we know of at this time.
Now I believe there were more people at Godric's Hollow the night Voldemort tried to kill baby Harry, (not just Lily & Harry and later James). I have always believed that James was not in the house when Voldemort first arrived the night Harry got his scar.
I think James was bringing the cloak to Dumbledore (for whatever reason that is significant to the story but we don't know about yet). Maybe he was asking Dumbledore to keep it safe for Harry in case anything happened to him.
Now Jame's family are ordinary wizards. So James may not be related to Gryffindor but couldn't Dumbledore be? Was he the heir of Gryffindor? Is that why he had all of the Gryffindor heirlooms in his office? Could the cloaks be items invented by Godric Gryffindor or a relative?
This is just soo interesting!!!!

wish she had said the two names though!!! And I have asked the question of the invisibility colak a lot of times I expect she will tell when Hryy goes to Godric's Hollow to see his parents past.

yeah me too i was thinking about the same question about why did dumbledore keep the cloak coz he is the most powerful wizard in the world (even voldemort fears him) that can be invisible without the cloak and also knows how to use difficult spells not even hermione can't do. so i think james told dumbledore that to pass the cloak to harry when he sarts hogwars. and i can't wait for jo to finshed her books but in away i don't want the potter adventure to end but hopefully she would a great title for her 7th book coz she the expert on the magic world well as the muggle world.
