Default Newsround Exclusive: First review of the PoA DVD

CBBC Newsround has the very first review of the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD, due out November 19th in the UK.

It is a very detailed report with a first-look at what one of the disks looks like.

There are many features, supposedly more than there have ever been before on a Potter DVD. However, American grammar is used on both US & UK versions (DADA is defense not defence) and the guy who reads the books on the American audio cassettes also narrates on the DVD.

There are tours in four sections of Hogwarts aswell as a 360 degree tour of Honeydukes.

The Divination section includes the deleted scenes and exclusive cast & crew interviews.

Quote:
The most fascinating feature here is Creating The Vision which has JK Rowling talking alongside the film's director Alfonso Cuaron, as well as contributions from the likes of Producer David Heyman, Steve Kloves who adapted the book for the screen and Production Designer Stuart Craig.
The principle set designer Stuart Craig shows a map of Hogwarts which J.K.Rowling drew for him, to help in him making Hogwarts come to life.

They also discuss the infamous graveyard that Alfonso wanted to include but couldn't because JK said that comes into play later on in the books and may have some significance. JK also discusses her nightmares.

Quote:
It would have been great to have more detail on the scripting process. Several elements of the book didn't make their way into the film, it would have been good to find out how the decisions were made about what went in and what was thrown out. And when Alfonso talks about the graveyard, Potter fans would have loved to hear a little from JK Rowling herself about this mysterious cemetery.
There are also three unfinished scenes (minus the special effects) that can be viewed. They include bits from inside the Knight Bus and a journey down to Hagrid's.

Quote:
The third is the best. A scene inside the Great Hall with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Harry's two friends are discussing going into Hogsmeade.
The deleted scenes featuring Sir Cadogan do not feature on the DVD.

Aswell as hearing from the trio in the interviews, we also hear from:

Quote:
The actors who play the Weasley twins, Neville, Seamus, Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. There are additional adult interviews with the actors behind Professor Lupin and Sirius Black among others.
Quote:
The Phelps twins, Matt Lewis and Devon Murray talk about how they originally got their parts.
Alot of old information is featured, such as Dan's marriage proposals and how David Thewlis (Lupin) almost ended up with the part of Professor Quirrell.

Quote:
There are some insights from the Director of Photography about how he lit scenes like the inside of The Shrieking Shack.
Quote:
The interruptions from the Shrunken Head (during the interviews) get rather annoying after a while. And Seamus's name is misspelled as Finnegan, instead of Finnigan.
Quote:
Follow the creation of creatures like Buckbeak the Hippogriff and the Dementors.
We will also get to see the animal trainers and the puppetry and mechanics behind Buckbeak and the Dementors.

There is no director's commentary for the film and there are no sneak peeks from the upcoming film Goblet of Fire.

I sooo can't wait! Deleted scenes should be awesome! Though I wish there was more, especially the one when they're all in their dorm after the Sirius Black attack. There was a pic of it and it looked really good. Ah well, can't win them all!
