Article: Michael Moore Won't Be Directing Potter Six
Various film websites are reporting that documentary writer/producer/director
Michael Moore has been invited to direct the film version of book VI.
This rumor is not to be believed, here are some of the reasons why.
For starters, the most obvious reason is that WB haven't even decided if they're going ahead with OotP yet, let alone Potter six, HBP. OotP going ahead depends on a multitude of things, including how well GoF does in the cinemas and whether the actors continue their contracts. Another important aspect is that HBP isn't even out yet as a book, so Kloves, or whoever will work on the script in the future wouldn't even have been able to script it yet. Kloves may also be leaving the franchise after GoF to work on his own projects, which also puts OotP's fate in some doubt, so how HBP can be considered as a film possibility in the near future at this point in time, is ludicrous.
TLC have also pointed out some other interesting points, which prove this rumor to be untrue and completely made up for humorous reasons.
Quote:
It appears to us that this rumor got started when satirical news site the Spoof "reported" the "news" Chinese news site Xinhuanet.com apparently then picked up the story and reported it as fact, falsely. It has since spread to film and news sites too numerous to mention. When in fact, in the original
spoof article (the first link in the quote) a warning was printed boldly before the actual text reading:
The story as represented above is written as a satire or parody. It is fictitious.
So no-one really had reason to believe this or assume it for truth in the first instance.
