| | | Madonna fails to conquer Rowling Summary: Pop star Madonna has failed to steal JK Rowling's crown as the queen of children's books. Article: The singer's first authorial attempt The English Roses was launched amid a blaze of publicity last week, and smashed records after being released in 30 languages and 100 countries simultaneously.
But despite the star's best publicity efforts, she failed to top Harry Potter creator Rowling's sales in her adopted Britain.
The English Roses has sold 8,270 copies in its first week and made it to number 17 in the country's book chart, according to data company Nielsen Bookscan.
The figures made it the second-best selling kids's book of the week - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, published in June (03), sold 8,490.
The Potter book sold a staggering 1.7 million copies in Britain on it first day through bookshops and the internet. Contactmusic News |

I can't believe that it was even close! I mean, I know it's Madonna the Queen of Pop, and stuff, but that doesn't make any sence, that her book sells that good...

She didn't even know who Enid Blyton was for goodness sake!! Madonna has no right to call herself a writer!

I can't even believe Madonna thought she could come even remotely close to JKR! She needs to come back down to Earth and realize that JKR is and always will be the Queen of children's books!

Did people really think Madonna's book was gonna sell more than JK's? HA! That's funny.

I'm not surprised she failed to top J. K. Rowling; Madonna's a moron.
