| | | M. Night Shyamalan hot on Potter’s trail Sixth Sense film director M. Night Shyamalan, who, as we told you last week, regrets turning down the chance to direct Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, said in an interview yesterday that he’s eager to take the helm of the last HP film and already knows the type of feel he’d go for : Quote:
I want to see a serious emotional conflict, like if Ron goes to the wrong side. Power has such a double-edged sword. I want the audience to feel that for a moment.
In reference to comments he made last week about the HP material needing to be "handed over, adoption papers and everything," Shyamalan explained to TLC: Quote:
I would be the greatest protector of an author's stuff. Especially things that I respect, that I know there's inherently magic in it. I would be very wary of screwing it up, so I would be very careful ... There's no way that it would be missed by lack of effort or lack of care or lack of attention. I would be giving it every single iota ... I would cherish it.

*fingers crossed* He's great with creepy and atmospheric type movies!! He would do the story of HBP justice...especially with the scene in the tower between Dumbledore, Snape and Malfoy...

| ♥ Mrs. Itachi Uchiha™ & MAJNOO! : Bleach & Kyo & Natsume ♥ [ Maxh!Jesh ] He seems very desperate to direct that movie. But then, seeing how famed the series is, I'm not surprised. And I don't think anyone else is either.
From what I've heard, he isn't an excellent director. And even though I pity him [Okay, so maybe I exxagerate, but still] I hope someone really good gets to direct both the sixth and seventh movies.

I've never heard of him and I don't think I've ever seen any of his films either! I do love the fact that all the Potter films have different directors though, maybe he would do a good job!

| I'd like to see him direct a HP film. I loved Sixth Sense, and it'd be good to have alot of emotion in the film. |

I don't know if i'd like him doing HP, his movies are a bit ...weird and his endings leave something to be desired(for me anyway). But if he ever does HP, I would still go see it, I mean HP is HP!!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sydney Granger Seventh Year | Shamalan is iffy
I guess that M. Night Shamalan could either make or break the final movie. I mean there's the whole "he could make this one big flop of a Harry Potter movie" idea where he makes the atmosphere of the overall movie too erie and strange, but he could also give the movie just the right amonut of kick. I'm still disappointed with the portrayal of Azkaban and how SO MUCH was removed! I'm not so sure about Shamalan. But I DID love Chris Columbus's direction of the first two movies. Who knows.... I also heard that Spielburg regrets dissing Harry Potter and wants to direct Movie 7 too! Do you think he will?

I think he would be a great director. He would stay true to the book and wouldnt change a lot of things. If he directed the final 2 movies, he would do a great job and everybody would be amazed by his work. I know I would be.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sophia | I love M. Night Shamalan movies, and that's saying something. The reason it's so important is becuase I"m not a fan of scary or suspence movies. Give me an old comedy any day. I saw the Village and the sixth sence and I loved them. It would be really interesting to see his dramatic eye put a spin on the last Harry Potter. I could guarontee that if he did it, there would be no left sitting in their seat, they would be hanging the entire time.
I also like the fact that he liked to show himself in all his movies he makes, if only for a second. Can't wait to find out if he gets the spot. He get's two thumbs way up from me.

| I think he is a very good director and I like his movies. He seems very keen to do a HP movie and so I think he should get to do one of the last two. He seems to think he should stick to the book and we're always moaning that the directors don't so if he does to a movie it should be very loyal and enjoyable! |
