The Scotsman has compiled a list of people who've earnt the most money this year and not surprisingly J.K.Rowling has topped the list with her 2004's earnings coming to £28million.

However, research by The Scotsman has narrowed this figure down to about £330 million - and her earnings this year to £28 million. This came from the paperback release of book five, royalties for the previous books and the first three films (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, released this year, has made more than £60 million) and merchandising.

Rowling is noted for her charity work and is a regular at charity balls, where she is happy to pay out thousands to good causes by making purchases in auctions.
