It would be one of the best big-screen battles imaginable: the loveable green ogre versus the boy wizard Article: Quote: The contest between Shrek and Harry Potter is taking place on the red carpets of Sydney as Australia's leading film distributors prepare for the premieres of two mega-budget sequels.
The premiere of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban will take place in Sydney today, with celebrities including the Wiggles and teenage model Ayesha Makim attending the VIP event, which starts at 10.30am at the George Street cinemas.
The film, which has been given a controversial M15+ rating by the Office Of Film And Literature Classification, is set to appeal to teens who have followed the Harry Potter film series since they were young children and read the books by J.K. Rowling. Quote: But when it comes to the looming box office battle in Australia, it looks set to be a contest between teens and tweens, with thousands of younger kids (and plenty of big kids, for that matter) anticipating the Australian release of Shrek 2.
Only a few days after the Harry Potter premiere, the A-list crowd will be back out on Wednesday night to celebrate the Australian premiere of Shrek 2, with a guest appearance by Hollywood star Antonio Banderas at the State Theatre in Sydney. Quote: But the latest Potter film will get a jump-start at the Australian box office - it is released on Thursday, a week before Shrek 2 hits cinemas across Australia. Sydney Morning Herald |

Last I checked, Shrek brought in about 32 million in two weeks, and Harry Potter is bringing in over 92 million its first weekend. LoL. It's a close one.

yeah like SHREK could be better than hp! its a CARTOON for crying out loud! with hp u get comedy, action AND fit boys!!!!! what more could you want? with shrek, though funny, you get a donkey that gets increasingly irritating throughout the film and less and less funny.

I don't understand why children adore Shrek. He's scary, as much as I love the color green.
