Slovenian Harry Potter fans find themselves worried concerning the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Why? Well, the first five books of the series have been translated by Jakob Kenda for Epta, a small publishing house. However, in 2005, prior to the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Epta announced that the 6th and 7th books of the series would be translated by Branko Gradisnik.
The fans patiently waited a total of 7 months for the translated version of HBP only to be disappointed. It turns out that Gradisnik had never even read the first five books! Many details were wrongly interpreted by the translator so to interfere with some aspects of the plot and the personalities of various characters. To top it all off, Gradisnik added a 24 page “Explanatory Appendix” which explains his choice in some of his modifications which readers called an “inexcusable violation of JK Rowling's book”.
According to hpslo.com, 85 percent of readers would like Jakob Kenda back. The fans are currently waiting for an answer to their questions and worries.

Poor slovenians. I mean I´ve felt sorry for british people for having the illustrator of the children´s covers changing every now and then, but to have a translator changed  That is just not wise :/

OMG! I'm so happy you reported this. Last year it was just shocking for us when we heard about it. Now, I get to know that Gradišnik will be translating 7th book too  I'm so dissapointed. Epta is doing a big mistake.
When I recieved my HBP book and when I started to read it, I closed the book and I couldn't start to read it again. Some words are just horrible! Even we (Slovenians) don't know them and I can't translate them. I went, then, to library and borrowed the English one.
I just remembered, how crazy we went! We wanted to have a strike...it was shocking 
And, we did write to Kenda and some of us spoke to him. (I recieved two mails from him). We were asking him, if he could translate the book again, but he had an argue with Epta and he said, he's not sure about anything.

Wow, that's dissapointing I seriously hope it gets worked out in a civil way. They'll be a stampede of angry HP fans if there's not. It just goes to show that you have to read something to fully understand it and by not reading the first five books, this guys totally misunderstood everything.
