| | | Guitar-playing Daniel in Sydney Paper's Magazine - An article, interview and picture Summary:
Guitar-playing Daniel Radcliffe features in Sydney Paper's Magazine, giving an interview on what it's like to be Harry. Article: Guitar-playing Daniel in Sydney Paper's Magazine
On the cover of the Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper there is a new image of Daniel and his guitar. The picture is featured in the paper's entertainment section.
There is also an interview which can be found here about the characters maturing, the actors and even has Chris Columbus saying how he gave Daniel a guitar as a leaving present when he stopped directing! Quote: Vera Lynne and The Andrews Sisters have been superseded by anarchic tracks from Sid Vicious, the Stranglers, David Bowie and the Ramones.*
And it's being belted out by a 14-year-old apprentice wizard better known for casting spells than playing his guitar.* Quote: "I got him a guitar before I left, you know," recalls Chris Columbus, director of the first two Potter films. "I got him an electric Telecaster guitar but he traded it in for a bass. He felt bass was more interesting.*
And then about two months later I went to his house for dinner and he was playing the bass really, really well."* Quote: "I love it. I mean I love acting, the world of film is absolutely brilliant, but there is so much music to explore. I'm getting into new bands every week," he says.*
"I'm a bit all over the place with my tastes.*
At first it was all Sex Pistols and '70s stuff but there are some great bands now - especially in Britain - that I like."* Quote: Daniel nominates The Libertines as "the best rock band in the country right now" but adds he's also fond of Jane's Addiction, Rage Against the Machine, Jet, Audioslave and Franz Ferdinand. Quote: "When I (Alfonso Cuaron) met Daniel, he used to be into punk rock and I started to tease him that he was like an old fart listening to this 30-year-old music. Then he got his revenge because now he starts quoting all these groups that I don't know to make me feel old. "But I gave him some music. I said, 'Now you like the'70s, but you have to know the '80s. And out of the '80s he likes Talking Heads." Quote: It was another hero, Gary Oldman, who gave Daniel's music education a further boost.*
Oldman, who plays the menacing Sirius Black in Prisoner of Azkaban, says Daniel was fascinated that he had played Sex Pistols bad boy Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy.*
"Yeah, he was ... yeah. And I (Gary Oldman) play some instruments and Dan's learning the bass guitar so I brought the bass in and showed him a few riffs, things on the bass guitar and stuff like that."* Quote: "Here was a guy who wanted to take himself seriously as an actor and really wanted to explore his emotional universe," he says.* Quote: "The journey that Harry goes through is a rite of passage. So right at the start I showed him The 400 Blows (directed by Frenchman Francois Truffaut)," Cuaron recalls.*
"This is the Muggle version of Prisoner of Azkaban.*
"The journey of this kid. Because of hormones and everything, he loses control."* Quote: Columbus bristles with pride at the maturity of the young star.*
"You know, forget the teenage hormones, when they were 10 or 11 it was impossible to get them to concentrate.*
"There's a lot of cuts in the first movie because after one line they'd be looking into the lens or looking at the microphone.*
"By the second film we were able to get them to get through about two or three lines. "But when I saw this film I was so impressed because they are doing entire scenes in one shot."* Quote: "He discovers the bogeyman is inside himself and not in the closet," he says. Awesome article! And Dan looks great in the picture, too. I'm hoping one day Daniel will show us all how good of a bass player he is! That would be great to see him on a TV show, maybe doing promotion for GoF or something, and him just rocking on the bass! WOOOO-first to post!

Well, I can say that it's a really nice and really expensive bass guitar. We're talking... lots of money.

Lots of things to say...
1) Wow - didn't realize there were so many fellow- indians on SS...
2) True... would be nice if he could come here
3) He looks awesome in the picture! (and this is a *first* from me, so there)
4) I found it really cute that Gary Oldman and Daniel were almost interacting like Sirius might have with Harry if Voldemort hadn't caused a mess in the first place - like teaching him those scales on the guitar and stuff. I can just about imagine Sirius tutoring Harry in the basics of motorcycle-flying |

I like the bands that Dan likes too, especially Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine, I think me and Dan could rock out pretty well together!
