Gary Oldman OoTP Decision Coming Soon?
 

As previously reported, Gary Oldman's agent feels that it is unlikely his client will be reprising his role as Sirius Black in the 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'. Douglas Urbanski, of Douglas Management Group, has once again gone on record regarding Mr. Oldman's likelihood of returning. He states that a deadline has been put in place for early next week.

Quite frankly I don't care any more. LOL Someone needs to tell Oldman's manager that if you keep doing this, no one is going to care! Everyone is so 'meh' about it. I SO doubt that the WB hasn't tried to get Gary back. So he needs to shut it already.

You know, I get tired of this news, vague on both sides and kind of blaming both sides....it's ridiculous.

I just hope he gets to be in OotP, he's gonna die anyway, so let's keep him till the end!

Well on the brightside atleast we will know if things will go one way or another by the end of this week. The character is gonna die anyway in this movie, so I dont understand what the big fuss is about. I just want them to get things sorted in a way that will be beneficial to the fans!

Well he might be goin for the publicity and a BIG pay check too by the look of things! I think this whole fiasco will only create ill will towards Oldman and probably WB too. But it will be mostly directed towards Oldman and his AGENT. This is a total PR nightmare for him. They are just trying to make the most of the situation.

It ruins the continuity if he doesn't come back for OotP, Sirius is a HUGELY important character in this film; having another actor would spoil the role, in my opinion, no matter how well they play it.

Come on!!! Its work isn't it!!! I really do wish that he comes back even though he won't because he's apparently not getting enough money!!! *argh*

Gary does such a brilliant job at it, that i don't think anyone else would be able to compare!
also, i've read in a lot of different places that dan really looks up to gary, although i'm not sure if it's true, and it kinda makes me wonder what he would think of it if gary didn't work in OoTP

Its so important to the plot of the film that he returns. Because....Watchers have already grow attached to him so that when he ~~~~~it will be sad. Theres no way it will work out as well with a new sirius!

I think it's all publicity too, which reinforces my disappointment in Hollywood and the movie industry all together. If you can't do what you started with, don't mess with all the fans who love and respect you. If it's all the agent, then he should be slapped!

I really hope he comes back. I wanted to see him and Dan and thier close relationship. I really missed his lack of presence in GoF and i was looking forward towards their interactions. Hopefully it will all work out.

I don't think his agent should be dishing ultimatums. I also don't think this whole thing should've been made quite so public. It's verging on unprofessional, imo, because, as I'm sure the agent knows and knew before hand, this is rallying fans up. I think it's just a matter of Gary not being needed yet and the casting office wanting to sort things out "as needed". After all, both Oldman and Heyman have said they want to him to be back.

all of this publicity and drama stuff is getting confusing, not to mention boring. i hope gary will come back. he was a great sirius....i cant imagine someone else playing sirius in the upcoming movie.

They just have to work out a way to get him to reprise the role! Yes, he is going to die and this would be his last film, but Sirius won't be Sirius without him! I am still getting used to Michael Gambon and we have had him as Dumbledore for two movies now! I really hope that WB does everything they can to get him signed!

I agree, Emma. Obviously it is so not an issue for the WB because they're not the ones making statements all the time. They made one statement to say where they stood on the matter, and haven't fired back since. However, Gary's management has repeatedly kept at this and is upsetting fans, sometimes to the point of not caring if Gary returns or not! Quite frankly, a small part of me wants the WB to stick it to the Gary and his management and hire someone else. Unfortunately they have the WB over a barrel, so to speak, because they know he's only needed for one film (I'm sure in hindsight, I bet the WB wishes that Gary never knew!) and he has a dramatic and important death scene.

Personally I wish the fans would rally together and tell Gary's management off. Tell them we're willing to accept a replace me so shut up and/or put out.

i really hope he comes back. i hate when the cast changes coz once u c one person u get used to tht person and like him/her. for example, i miss the old dumbledore. i mean yes he died so can't do anything abt tht. but he was exactly like i wud imagine dumbledore to be. he was humble lookin unlike the new dumbledore.
but really, gary shud came back, after all, this will b his last appearence. :(

It seems to me that Warner Brothers are the ones holding this up. What is this? Some kind of publicity stunt or something? Keep us on the edge of our seats chewing our fingernails down to the bone and then sign him on the day of the deadline? It's not right and it's not fair. Someone needs to make a move!!

There is definately a lot of confusion coming out of the whole situation. Just to think...for so long now we've all been worried about the 3 main kids not being able to finish out the series. Little did we know that one of the adults may be the first to go. =\

I understand money problems, truly I do. But I don't see that being a big issue here, regardless what the media reports. I believe it stated that he's not even asking for much, so I'm kind of thinking this is a sick publicity stunt, or WB just isn't ready to commit. Then again, Gary could have something that is stopping him as well. I guess we just have to wait and see, unfortunately.

It will be traumatic if we have to switch actors for Sirius but as someone else said, "the show must go on".

They just need to make him look slightly cleaner, I mean come on he was one of the hottest guys in Hogwarts!! lol But yeah he best coem back, casts shouldn't change, espically when he is going to die anyways!!!! *cries* I love my padfoot!

i hope that for one gary returns because hes a brill actor and two i hope they stay loyal to the book because dont forget the reason harry goes to the ministry of magic in the first place is to save sirius....

its gonna be so lame and i am gonna be upset if he does not come back i hate watching movies where they change the actor i wont stop watching but i will feel the movie is not as good without him...you know this is all the wb fault if they had offered him the job sonner he would not be saying he might not do it. i read on muggle net that he does not even want to be paid alot hes working for the movies cheap so whats the wb's prob.

I don't see why WB won't let Oldman in OOTP. I really can't picture anyone else being Sirius. Is this true or is it just a way to stir up fans and start to get them interested in the movie? They better work it out. Leaky hasn't posted it and they don't post things that arent' true so I wonder...

Im happy that Gary Oldman is coming back for the 5th movie, it would have been a shame if they would cut the part of the book when Sirius dies. Its part of the story, they need him in the movie.
