Post Full audio: J.K. Rowling interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show

This will be SnitchSeeker's live post for J.K. Rowling's interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, airing at 4:00pm EST in New York. People magazine already revealed what Jo said about future Harry Potter books, which can be read here:

Quote:
"I could definitely write an eighth, ninth, tenth," the celebrated author, 45, told Oprah Winfrey during an interview scheduled to air Friday. "I'm not going to say I won't. I don't think I will … I feel I am done, but you never know."
Quote:
However, Rowling mentioned that she did turn down one opportunity – when Michael Jackson said he wanted to make a musical based on the books.

This post will be continually edited and updated (so refresh every couple of minutes), as well the Twitter, so keep an eye on both for news.

• Jo explained why she stuck with J.K. rather than Jo, when her publisher told her that it would appeal more to a male demographic.
• Jo said that with all the noise of cleaners, children, and burden, she realised she could 'throw the money around', and came to the hotel for quiet and finished the last Harry Potter book, the Deathly Hallows.
• Jo said the end was a huge bereavement, writing the final parts of Deathly Hallows. She knew how it was going to end, and when it did she was in 'a slight state of shock.' She cried uncontrollably when she finished, and only did that once before, when her mother died. She said that if the books were such an escape for the fans, imagine how it was for her. The book series gave her structure in life.
• She said that the pressures were overwhelming, and it is easy to say now because she is 'free of it.'
• In her second American book tour, she saw block after block after block of fans queued at Barnes and Noble to meet; she signed 2,000 books and the queue never ended, but she had to go.
• Jo said a part of her consciously knew that Harry Potter's name would be one everyone would know. A part of her thought, 'the difficult part will be to get published. If it gets published, it will be huge.'
• Her first idea of the book, on that train from Manchester to London, was "this is a boy wizard, he goes to a wizard school." Then ideas of wizard ghosts, and school Houses came to mind right then and there.
• On the Christian fate, she said that some bits from Deathly Hallows were alluded from beliefs she grew up with.
• "In magic, man has to rely on himself," a quote she almost put into the books (paraphrased).
• On having made her millions, Jo and Oprah both related with the fact that they are both no longer in a position where they have to choose, they can get whatever they'd like. She said with the money she "dresses better." She said that being in such a low financial business before the books came, that she will never take for granted what has been given to her. She sometimes worry about losing money. The money, she said, frees her. She could have the option of choosing to go on holiday without limit.
• She's terrified of cars, so won't drive, but has a driver and sometimes takes the bus.
• She never imagined her life would be where it is now, power, fame, and wealth-wise. As a writer, she had no one around her who could help her with the crazier things with celebrities (like if people are going through her rubbish bin), and was unprepared and "running scared" for a while.
• She struggles with religion. She said sometimes she believes what she does because of what she's written. She notes love as being a subject that is an "amazingly resilient power" within us. And yes, she believes a higher power in God.
• Jo spoke about her marriages; the first failed one with the Portuguese man, and then having met and fallen in love with Neil Murray seven years after her first divorce. She briefly mentioned her estrangement from her father, which happened post-success. She regrets far more that her mother never got to read or know about the books, and said she would have 'adored' the series. It was six months before her mother died that she began writing, and she never told her. She said her mother's death is virtually on every other page of the Harry Potter book series, how to survive death, how to cope with death, the love of your dead parents. She said the books are what they are because her mother died, and so much of that was put in her series.
• The dementors came about from her a bout of depression, something that was always resonant in her life since a young child, and acute during the beginning of her writing the books and her mother's death. She calls depression that cold lackness of feeling, from which the dementors came.
• She said the Harvard commencement speech was easily the most frightening thing she'd ever done. Jo said she was terrified of public speaking, but has gotten better, though speeches still scare her a bit.
• On the theme park: on the proposal, she was told it would be state-of-the-art and like nothing seen before, and she said that as a book reader, she would have loved it.
• Jo and Oprah realised that there is no need to 'chase the phenomenon', because they have both hit this great phenomenon and can move on to other things. Jo said she has no interest or thought in topping Harry Potter at all.
• She met a fan a few days ago, and she flat out to Jo, 'you are my childhood.' Which summed it up.

This interview was amazing. She's such an inspiration, and so incredibly humble. I would be honored to get to meet her one day and maybe have a little chat about HP, and life in general.

Hey! I suppose you already know that when the first book was released, most of the people (not kids or teenagers) said that Harry is the image of the Antichrist and Dumbledore is kind of a Devil. Then, after HP and the Chamber of Secrets appeared, they said that the phoenix is the symbol of death (even if everyone knows that it`s the symbol of life ) and the unicorn is kind of a satanic image. Then again, they compare Harry with the Antichrist! If you want to find out more, just let me know. XOXO
