| | | Exclusive: SnitchSeeker Half-Blood Prince set visit report
Nearly a year ago, SnitchSeeker got invited to Leavesden Studios to tour the set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Due to the film's release date being pushed back, we've had to hold off on tell you about our adventure (and we still have to keep quiet on most of what we saw). However, we've gotten the green light from Warner Bros. to spill a few beans. So here's a brief report from our senior reporter, EmmaRiddle (pictured below in the studio's media tent), of her experiences on the Harry Potter set. Quote:
Originally Posted by EmmaRiddle On January 29th of this year I was lucky enough to be invited down to Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, to see the sets for the sixth Harry Potter film, Half-Blood Prince, interview the cast & crew and watch a bit of the filming. Whilst there I interviewed Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, Tom Felton, Jessie Cave (a newcomer to the series, who plays Lavender Brown), director David Yates and producer David Barron. Along with the other website representatives there that day, I was given a tour around the studios by one of the publicists.
I saw a huge array of sets including some which have been standing since shooting first began on the franchise way back in 2000. Highlights included sitting at Dumbledore’s chair in his office and sitting at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall, while watching the scene below being filmed;
This sequence involves the Gryffindor team chatting before a Quidditch match against the Slytherins. I won’t give too many details away but I will say that it involves Luna's Gryffindor lion hat which, as with past props, was created with the aid of Evanna Lynch herself. This was shot many, many times; during one take everyone had a good laugh at Dan Radcliffe's expense when he fell over trying to get off the bench at the Gryffindor table!
In terms of new sets, I saw the cave construction, which will feature in a climatic scene with Dumbledore and Harry, the inside of which I can only describe as being very crystal-like - a cross between Isla de Muerta in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and the cave in Superman Returns. With the CGI effects added, I can only imagine how expansive it will look, and how eerie it will be with its Inferi inhabitants.
I also learned that there will be scenes which indicate our favourite trio are getting older, including a flirtation between Harry and a waitress, which David Yates said was meant to show how Harry is maturing. Yates also said a kiss between Ron and Hermione was also going to be included … much to Rupert's surprise when I informed him … but that got scrapped in favour of what comes in Deathly Hallows. We also got to see some really cool concept art, including that of Fred & George’s joke shop, which looked to be bright and colourful, with a sort of nutcracker feel to it.
Unfortunately that’s about all I can say for now, as this is only a report teaser. Watch out for the full thing, plus the interviews, which will be coming your way next year! More set visit reports can be read at the following links:

I love it! I can't wait to watch the film next year! I think that this is going to be a really great film. Although, flirting with a waitress doesn't seem like something Harry will do and thank God they scratched the kiss between Ron and Hermione. The kiss in DH is just perfect.

Wow, your soo lucky to go there.. I would love to although I live in Australia.. damn it! lol
I can believe they cut the battle in Hogwarts of which Dumbledore dies (tears) but that should deffently show how big the FINAL battle will be. Although i agree with the battle being cut I do not, however, agree with not showing Dumbledore's funeral. That is the most sadess part of the book that made me cry, that, and Harry's beloved owl Hegwid in the final book.
I have also been reading other comments about different things about the producers always making it a happy ending and I know they wish to do that to all the movies which will work in their favour when the final movie comes out because it truely is a happy ending, winning the war. But also their are losses within the Weasley family and close to Harry such as Lupin and Tonks.
cheers
xx

That sounds fantastic, you are a really lucky person to have been able to see all the sets the movies! It is one of my biggest dreams to see something like that! Any way, I can't wait to see the cave scene and I really hope we get to see more Bellatrix in this new film, I loved her so much, she is really the best caricature in the whole movie, oh my word, I just can't wait to see the whole movie, the trailers look AMAZING! Whoopee

This post is actually what made me join SS today. I think it's awesome and congrats on getting invited to the set. I bet that was such a treat!
I'm looking forward to the movie, mostly because I'm curious as to what has been changed from the storyline. I can't lie, though, I got super excited when I saw the most recent trailor. hehe.

OMG!! Read this: Quote: Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double is in a serious condition in hospital after a flying sequence on the new Harry Potter movie went horribly wrong.
The crew is currently filming pre-production scenes for upcoming picture, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the seventh film in the boy wizard series, at Leavesden Studios in Watford.
The unnamed 25-year-old stuntman, who doubles for Radcliffe, was rehearsing an ariel sequence on Wednesday (28Jan09) when he was sent plummeting to the ground following an explosion which was part of the stunt.
The man was immediately attended by paramedics and rushed to the nearby Watford General Hospital to be treated for a "significant back injury".
A source tells the Daily Mirror, "The stunt double was badly hurt. The scene seems to have gone badly wrong. The guy was rigged up to a harness and was flying through the air. It is thought he may have been caught in the explosion and hit the ground very hard. He told crew members who went to help him that he couldn't feel anything from the waist down. Everyone is hoping he makes a good recovery. It has come as a terrible shock."
A statement from studio executives adds, "We can confirm a member of the Harry Potter production was injured in an accident. We are awaiting further news. Out of respect for the family we are unable to comment any further."
I hope that he get's better soon!!
