Post Ending Harry Potter was "painful" for J.K.Rowling

In a preview to J.K.Rowling's three-part interview with the Today and Dateline show, the author has spoken about how it was both "incredible" and "painful" finishing the Harry Potter series.

Quote:
“When you started, you were not in the same place you are now by any means,” Vieira observed.

“No,” Rowling admitted. “And, in fact, when I started actually I was in a bad place. And then, you know, life has its ups and downs. So I mean, Harry’s been with me as a result. I think it was that feeling more than any other that I wouldn’t have that world to retreat into again that was painful.”
Quote:
“It was this amazing cathartic moment,” she told Vieira. “The end of 17 years of work. And that was just hard to deal with for about a week. And it’s very much tied into things I’ve done in my life for seven years that brought back a lot of memories of what had been going on in my life when I started writing.”

She knows what she has done. “I feel a big sense of achievement,” she told Vieira. “I mean, I am sad. But I’ve been sadder.”
The full interview will be aired on:

July 26th - The Today Show interview with J.K.Rowling NBC Part I

July 27th - The Today Show interview with J.K.Rowling NBC Part II

July 29th - Dateline interview with J.K.Rowling NBC Part III

Ultimate Potterite Original original

It's been with her so long. It is definitely painful and sad, but I'm glad that she's made a wonderful life for herself and her family after everything that she's been through.

It must have been hard finishing something that saw her through her hard times. Harry has been with her for 17 years it must feel like she has let go of one of her children.

I hope that Jo will keep on writing and hopefully oneday will decide to tell us what everyone who survived is doing and how they got to where they are in their lives. From what I have read I am not the only person who feels the need for more closure. In the meantime I feel that Jo deserves a well earned rest and to enjoy her real family.
