Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the Potter films, is going to play an orphan in the BBC production of Ballet Shoes, an adaptation of Noel Streatfield's book.
Victoria Wood, Marc Warren, and fellow Harry Potter film actor Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) will be amongst her fellow cast-mates in the 90 minute T.V. drama. The show is said to be "the centrepiece of the Beeb's Christmas line-up". Quote:
Ballet Shoes follows the tale of three orphaned sisters who are adopted by an eccentric explorer and raised by his niece.
A TV source said: "Emma was practically born for this role."
Filming is said to start sometime this month.

wow...emma is really taking seriously of acting besides harry potter...cool.i thought tale of desperaux is her only non potter film..she's gonna film hbp n ballet shoes??wow..she's got time besides studying too??good luck,emma!surely will watch it but it's not shown in my country.

The animated film is next summer and is only voicework. Half-Blood Prince doesn't start shooting until September. And it's the summer holidays at the moment, so she won't have any studying to do. I really thought Dan, Emma, and Rupert's careers would be over after HP because no one would be able to think of them as anybody else, but it's definately become the opposite, and I'm glad that I was wrong!

Yeah, like Rupert and Julie Walters in Driving Lessons... Dan and Richard Griffiths... and now Emma and Richard Griffiths... huh, didn't really notice that 
So is it premiering on T.V or is it going to ever be an actual movie for DVD and video or something? (because I don't think I get BBC since I'm not in England... or in Great Britain in general).
But that's awesome that she's branching off and out of Harry Potter.

Yeah, and Tom Felton was turning 20 when OotP came out, and for the next movie probably 21 and 22 by the time the last movie comes out. They make things work so they look a bit more like their character's age.
No one is ever their characters actual age in a movie, all of them never were to begin with, and it will end that way. They made them look younger and older before, so no worries about the last movie
