| | | David Yates talks Half-Blood Prince dark themes
Director David Yates was recently quoted by the Associated Press on the dark themes situated throughout Half-Blood Prince: Quote:
Meantime, Harry struggles to get on with the usual teenage pressures of school, social activities and budding romance.
"We've got some really playful sequences and some material that obviously dips into the darker world of `Potter,'" director David Yates said. "As the series matures, it tonally does get darker overall. It's sort of inevitable as you follow the material. The kids are getting older, more mature and complex."
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will come to theatres July 17, 2009. |

Yeah you can see it getting darker in the books, especially if you grew up with Harry like I did. I especially noticed that quidditch matches seem to get less important as you go along.

Nice. But, we'll have to see it to believe it.

I get the feeling that this movie's going to be as dark as a neon "EAT AT JOE'S" sign. Meh. |

"dark" doesn't necessarily mean "violent", that's probably why its PG; and guys give it a chance, it could still be dark in a thematic sense, which is good development for movies 7#1 and 7#2

So dont go having negative thoughts about HBP-it will be coming soon and then yall can make the judgment call after seeing it 4-5 times each I love this quote - right on... i like the part about seeing it 4-5 times each. You're so right on this. I've known people seeing it 4-5 times and then see it again and again. If you have the time and money... go for it.

Thanks I am one of those people who will see it at least 4 times- once w. friends (opening night), my niece, w/ other friends, and then just myself LOL-no I dont go the same week. I usually wait about a few weeks to see it I enjoy seeing it on the big screen as much as I can before they send it to DVD. Again, how many days til HBP? |

Admittedly the bits in the trailers have been dark-ish.But that could be all there is.
Maybe he means the colour scheme. |
