I really hopes he doesn't smoke in real life. Doesn't he have to smoke in December Boys too?

I don't care about whether he smokes in real life or not...he is smoking in the play which mean she has to smoke at least once a night for a couple of weeks (or for however long the play lasts). That is disgusting!!!

Doesn't Dan smoke in "December Boys"? I don't think it's something that we should worry about. Dan said that he didn't want to be like a typical rock star: drunk and high while performing. I'm not saying that all rock stars are like that, but you get my point.

OK, first of all: Dan does NOT smoke in real life. He's just doing it to stay in charrie, guys. Don't start getting mad about it.

My goodness he is just acting. Its not like he is going to start smoking a pack a day. We all know smoking is bad and I'm sure Dan knows too, but when you are in the business you do what you are told. You can't be a Diva about everything. And complaining about things makes people think twice before hiring you for future projects.

Also its not like he was forced to smoke the cig, he made a choice to do so, so we can't just assume that he is being forced to sacrifice his health. He could have easily said no or asked for another alternative. I'm sure they would have complied with him.

I really don't see anything wrong with the play. Or the pictures. Its art and I guess its just hard for people to understand it and see it for what it really is, and not Dan smoking or being in the nude. Which is funny because it isn't even Dan doing all those things, its the Character he is portraying.

It's either a fake, or he stage smokes. Usually means he isn't actually inhaling the smoke. I doubt he'd actually smoke and risk getting addicted for the sake of a play or a movie.

And don't forget guys... his character is insane in the play. I mean, "omg he's doing this and this and this and how could he?" Well... he's insane. There are many things I could quote to demonstrate this, but they aren't allowed on SS. And the one that I could quote, sadly, I can't remember. ^^; But this character worships this horse as though it were out of the Bible. Take the lineage in the Bible, and imagine him instead reciting it as the names of horses, chanting it as he holds his arms out to embrace a god who isn't even there.

If I was an actress and was told that I would have to smoke in the film or play, I would actually refuse to do it...I wouldn't take any risks.Hopefully Dan doesn't get addicted.

I so agree wit h you Jor. Let the boy be people. Hes actin and all of that. I'm sorry but I'm not changing my way of thinking hes hot just because he smokes or gets nude. Hes human and doing what he has to do. And that just fine. We shouldn't judge him by what he dose but by how he act and stuff. But ya smoking is bad. Smoking is a vile and disgusting habit. I don't think he smokes in real life though. I vaguely remember reading in an article that he is only smoking for one scene in the play.

The whole riding the 'horse' thing is a little creepy, but then again so is the whole premise of the play. It is supposed to have creepy psychological undertones. IMHO it is just an excuse to shock people for the sake of shocking people rather than for any real deeper meaning.

It is odd to see him with 'Uncle Vernon' outside of the HP movies.
