As he has stated in previous interviews, last Monday Dan Radcliffe told SlashFilm that he is still convinced that Harry will die at the end of the series … and that he actually hopes that will be the case. Quote:

I think it will be something to do with the fact that ... maybe the only way Voldemort can be killed is if Harry is killed as well. My friend sort of compared it to both Holmes and Moriarty dying at the same time. But, obviously, he hasn't read the sequel [in which Holmes was revived]. So, yes, but that's the thing that I would sort of like to see coming.

I hope Harry does not die, considering JK says he is the boy that lived. But, I can see Jk's point to kill him off, if harry dies the series dies and she would not have to worry about ripoffs of her story. It would be a climatic ending, but I want to stay optimistic that Harry will live when he kills Voldemort. Although, I think Neville will have a hand at helping Harry kill Voldemort. Neville was born at the end of july just like Harry. Also, his abilities and courage have dramatically improved. We will all know next year.

I do see the point in Harry having to die though i don't like it. I love re-reading the Potter books and find it hard to go through the 6th book killing Dumbledore each time. I don't know if I could re-read book 7 as well if Harry and other good characters have to die as well. It would be too depressing. Though I am braced for the worst.

i think harry has to die so the story can be summed up. if he does not die then people will be expectin another book or series of books in future years. and harry does not fit a fairy tale ending
