A 'Half-Blood Prince' mystery solved?

The HP Lexicon has received information that may reveal the identity of a mysterious person mentioned in initials toward the end of the 6th book.

The information, which comes from a reliable source, can be read here.

However this is still just a RUMOUR until it is confirmed or denied by J.K.Rowling/Bloomsbury/Scholastic.

Sweet first post!

Well, we here at SnitchSeeker have figured that much out already, right? I mean, read the Spoiler: R.A.B forum. It pretty much is self explanitory. But it almost seems too...I'm not sure, too easy, but hey. It just might be it!

Bucko 08-30-2005 12:26 PM

Cool !!!

Kitty Loves Steps 08-30-2005 12:29 PM

I knew it was him!!! Who else could it of been, JK put it in the mouth of Sirius as a clue!! Well could of if it is right!!

Cool news love it!!

FIRST TO POST YAY!!.....Or i thought i was!!! :whip:

milkshake342 08-30-2005 12:33 PM

Cool,Thought it could be him cos he is the only one...but it mite turn out to be someone complety different.

-Helen :music:

Anirock 08-30-2005 12:39 PM

I honestly think it's him but when it comes to JK, you never know..

GaBrIeLLe*DeLaCouR 08-30-2005 12:43 PM

Thats amamzingly good information, but how did they find out his middle name? did JK rowling say it herself??

Ally 08-30-2005 12:47 PM

cool... and I agree with Anirock

padfoot_rox93 08-30-2005 12:48 PM

well, like Ellenorethefair said, we did kinda figure it out. but how do they know Reggy's middle name is Arcturus? maybe JK Rowling told them or something. though i doubt it.

SnoggingLupin13 08-30-2005 12:48 PM

Already thought so. That would make sense, and I don't think he's dead, though... we only get that from another character who isn't always right, plus it did say he is dead before the Dark Lord reads the note, which creates a loophole.

the clues were all there in book 5 and book six i just hope and in the hbp forum the R.A.B discussion but i do have to agree it sees to easy i really do hope were right though i kinda have a gut feeling we are though!

Christy_Horcrux00 08-30-2005 01:05 PM

Cool, It could be him, but we never know what Jk is thinking...lol

swedishharrypotterfan 08-30-2005 01:05 PM

I'm just really curios who their source is... I want to know that before I start congratulating my self for guessing it correct ;)

Nixhearted 08-30-2005 01:10 PM

That's quite interesting, although I always believed that R.A.B. is that same person.

If it's not true JK would probably comment on her site about it, but if it isn't, I don't think she'd mention anything. Things would become pretty obvious then wouldn't they?

*Snivellus* 08-30-2005 01:12 PM

Interesting... thanks for the info!

TomFeltonLover2005 08-30-2005 01:23 PM

I agree.

That is a good guess. I'm eager to see who it really is.

Lissydove 08-30-2005 01:36 PM

Very interesting! I'm wondering where the information came from. I trust that the Lexicon would not post something dodgy. It's just very mysterious to me that this would be leaked... This is the person I guessed as well.

phoenixtears489 08-30-2005 01:39 PM

Well, thats what a lot of people think, including me, but I think I'll wait till we get a confirmation to really believe it.

Somehow I don't understand why Bloomsbury or JK Rowling would put this information out so early.

verysolange 08-30-2005 01:42 PM

Well I guess it's him know!

EmmaRiddle 08-30-2005 02:00 PM

No. Most sites figured out that much. No-one, however, mentioned what the middle name was.

Quote:

Don't know but it wasn't from JK.

Quote:

That's exactly what happened with the Dumbledore rumours. She can't comment on them without giving anything away, one way or the other.

kaZombie 08-30-2005 02:11 PM

it is only a rumor. ir could be someone else a new caracter or a caracter that exests already but they go by a different name.

indi4n 08-30-2005 02:34 PM

cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!
but we already kinda guessed dat

Hebecraft18 08-30-2005 02:44 PM

I had astronomy for two years...why didn't I see the connection between Regulus, Arcturus, and Sirius???? It looks clear now......

HPfan365 08-30-2005 02:46 PM

I KNEW IT! I just knew it had to be him.

Hermionespell 08-30-2005 02:59 PM

I think that most people already suspected that it was Regulus A. Black.

~*dangirl~* 08-30-2005 03:03 PM

sweet!!! oh this is all soooo exciting...the info and espesially the questions .....very very interesting... i thought it might be him but...hey this is jkr..you never know what's gonna happen...well not always anyways...

In_a_dream 08-30-2005 03:11 PM

yeah, remember they also found that locket that "no one could open" among his things in the fifth book? I kinda figured out who it was when I first finished the book.

Aurora_Black 08-30-2005 03:17 PM

I had thought it was him but he only lived to be 19 years old. I am not saying that it cuold be him...it could..

loony 4 ........ 08-30-2005 03:40 PM

Yes! Im sure its him

Leeness 08-30-2005 03:41 PM

hmm thats a favourite choice of many, good information etc.

danismine 08-30-2005 03:45 PM

I thought it was Regulus Black. Black is the only name that starts with B, it seems to fit. There is Borgin and Burke but I think Burke's first name starts with A, and we don't know Borgin do we? Regulus makes perfect sense to me.
Kool post.

Ooh, really? I'll have to go back and read that part.

Night_Rider 08-30-2005 04:02 PM

if it is him, then we already know the answer to the last question...in Ootp...thats where it says

Lady_Jezz 08-30-2005 04:22 PM

Nice!!!! But pretty much all of it has already been discussed at SS

malfoysgurl99 08-30-2005 04:43 PM

that's what I thought too, but who knows with JK . . . .

Natasha 08-30-2005 04:49 PM

I was guessing that...

tonks26 08-30-2005 04:50 PM

I've read that one earlier, and...well, its really nothing new, isn't it? So far it's only Regulus who almost fits R.A.B. If it's not him, then I have no earthly idea who RAB is.

Honky_Tonks15 08-30-2005 04:52 PM

yeah that's who was buzzing around everywhere. I love mysteries!

luckyangelkmf 08-30-2005 04:53 PM

That's alot of facts on RAB..... Well that was my guess too,i've heard around that it was him....

Arkee Maldemer 08-30-2005 05:21 PM

Now that it's confirmed...

WHOOHOO! Go Regulus! I'm gonna bump him up my list of 'Favourite Characters', for the greivous (and devious) insult he made by taking the locket. Anyone who metaphorically gives Voldemort the finger is always welcome on my list of favourite characters.

Jessica 08-30-2005 06:07 PM

Yeah, I hought it was Regulus too, but maybe It's ------ errrrrrr ------ rabastan? But he works for Voldemort, doesn't he? so my best guess is Regulus, after all Sirius said that he got cold feet and tried to back out so it makes perfect sense. I'm eager to see who it really is though.

Kazters 08-30-2005 06:24 PM

Talk about teaching your grandmother to suck eggs!

We fugured this out straight away i guessed it reading the book! lol

Brina gurl 08-30-2005 06:27 PM

I had kinda figured... but maybe not.... hmm... that's just like J.K. to confuse us.

beatboxing_chipmunk 08-30-2005 06:40 PM

Well, lots of people had already figured that out already; but it's nice to have some kind of confirmation even though it's not 100% confirmed or true.

Padie 08-30-2005 07:13 PM

I agree. I think it's him too... Got to wait until 7th book...

kellann227 08-30-2005 07:20 PM

i thought that r.a.b was him! i really hope so or id be very disappointed if it isnt b/c i think i know where the real locket is!...in sirius' house :) i think ginny touched it in ootp

worst-memory 08-30-2005 07:34 PM

I saw the connection. It just didn't click until book six.. Omg.. It makes perfect sense.. I think I get how it will end now...

sweetbaby 08-30-2005 07:39 PM

Very interesting... i knew it, and it was pretty obvious, but who knows what JK Rowling is going to do next?.... after reading that article, and finding out that Arthur Weasly is related to the Malfoys (creepy, i no) so Ron and Draco are cousins :faints: sad but true....

Ellenorethefair 08-30-2005 07:44 PM

But the only thing I can't figure out is how did Regulus get to the locket? He must have been a powerful wizard, because he had to probably drink the potion, right? Did he have someone with him at the time, like Dumbledore and Harry? And how did he find the place? The cave and all...Maybe the locket wasn't there to begin with?

Now I am so confused.

Genivra 08-30-2005 07:53 PM

My family and I had talked about the possibility of Regelus being the one to do that. But Sirius had made him out to be such a coward, and much to weak to ever have the guts or brains to do something like that especially under the close watch of Lord Voldemort. But as already stated you never know with JKR.

wizcat 08-30-2005 07:59 PM

I did talk about it with a friend of mine. I was thinking Regulus was too obvious. but she pointed out to me there was a locket at grimmauld place in the drawing room that none of them could open. so now that's not only a very good posibility, but just a fact... but I still wonder who that source was. and how he knew background information such as his second name...

bubblesdf1 08-30-2005 08:26 PM

Hmmm...I thought it was someone else but, ok!

ShesNoGood 08-30-2005 08:42 PM

I won't believe it unless I hear or read it in an interview from JK Rowlings mouth.....

OtterySt.Catchpole 08-30-2005 08:45 PM

Until she says it, I ain't buying it...guess we'll be waiting for two more years...

*yawning* Must be a slow newsday...see if Jeniffer Aniston and Brad Pitt were in the HP movies, we'd be having a field day with the news...and we wouldn't have to be scrounging around for stuff

Jeniffer Aniston is Bellatrix Lestrange
Brad Pitt is uhm *turns to Teddy*...hot sexy DADA teacher??? I dunno he wouldn't really fit any character now would he??? Foreign American Quodpot Player??? <_<

Beats me...but if JKR doesn't say it...I dunno why anyone believes it. I mean, there's not even a first draft of book 7 yet...really people, she was gonna work on the book, she hasn't even started...
<_<

redheadrider 08-30-2005 08:48 PM

*covers her ears* NO!!! Please don't ruin it for me... I'll just leave *takes a peek at the link* darn- too late!! ;)

LORDVOLDY 08-30-2005 08:58 PM

umm duh..!

wasnt this blantely obvious, and i think the A as a middle initial would stand for Alphred because is it not mentioned in book 5 that Sirius had an Uncle Alphred?? where did they get the other middle name from any way? was it mentioned and i just dont remember or somthing?

:music:

ginnycake 08-30-2005 09:04 PM

I also thought of him, but for me it seems to be too simple ._.

allucha 08-30-2005 09:08 PM

hmm... simple, thats what it is, there will probably be a twist later on though

moreta 08-30-2005 09:10 PM

interesting...and it makes perfect sense...

Raazia 08-30-2005 09:12 PM

well i think it's the guy u r thinking abt....cuz at a community at orkut...someone said that rowling mentioned someone's name in the Black family that was from A...and that's how u get his middle name
and rem, he was a death eater....and they are the only ones who call Voldemort "Dark Lord"...and that's wht the note says...so i think it's him

gumdrop480 08-30-2005 09:17 PM

I thought it was him.....and for those who think that if this isn't true JK would squash it on her site...have you noticed how much she loves the rumors! she wouldn't squash this one even if it isn't true. I was just thinking...what if it were three people's first initials? I know weird..but if it is Regulus he must be one powerful wizard, because he would of had to drink the green stuff....and then the lake water...and then ward of the dead people.......

slythringurl04 08-30-2005 09:25 PM

hmm..i guessed right!

Tao 08-30-2005 09:32 PM

You know, it's kind of weird. HP Lexicon is quite the reliable site, but it seems like everyone and their mother knew that it would be Regulas Black, so it's kind of disappointing in that way. But then, JKR herself said she wouldn't really be introducing any new characters in book 7, just learn about people we've heard about before. So it makes sense...

Quote:

Beats me...but if JKR doesn't say it...I dunno why anyone believes it. I mean, there's not even a first draft of book 7 yet...really people, she was gonna work on the book, she hasn't even started...
*looks at Ottery in complete disbelief* Now, I know you know better than to think JKR wouldn't know who R.A.B. is, and that someone else wouldn't be in the know...

LovedLoser 08-30-2005 09:36 PM

Maybe...

i cant believe it until jk says it him.....

padfootis#1 08-30-2005 09:42 PM

I still don't see how she figured out his middle name. Still, I think everyone agrees that R.A.B. is Regulus Black.

Aingil an Spéir 08-30-2005 09:57 PM

:hmm: Hmm, I'd like to believe it, I realy would. But the Lexocon doesn't say where they got the info. I won't believe it until I read it, or JK says it, and let's face it, the latter isn't going to happen.
I have a feeling we should take this with a grain of salt... <_<

VenusAngel21 08-30-2005 11:01 PM

I truly believe this now, this is almost like a book 7 spoiler. Now we know who R.A.B is.

*alohamora* 08-30-2005 11:02 PM

LOL I already solved that myself (but I was just guessing, so....) :)

i agree. its JKR, anything is possible and she can twist the initial however she wants:) i liked the family analogy on that page, very interesting

Kasha Rosaria 08-31-2005 12:45 AM

I think all of us here have guessed it is him. However, I'm not sure, it seems a little to obvious for J.K.'s style, I guess we'll all have to wait and see.... :(

Mrs. Weasley 08-31-2005 12:56 AM

I believe it is Sirius using his brother's initials. He could have been in contact with Dumbledore and be helping him find the horcruxes. Remember what Dumbledore told Draco on the astronomy tower. There are ways to make it look like a wizard has died. It makes sense to me to fake Sirius's death. No one goes looking for a dead man.

Lazarus 08-31-2005 12:59 AM

Yeah this is way to early!! There is no way anyone would have CONFIRMED information on book 7 yet. Only JKR would know for sure at this point. This seems like a "green flamed torch" headline.

Good. Finding that locket would be a good reason for Harry to finally take full ownership of 12 Grimauld Place - especially with that kleptomaniac Mundungus Fletcher slinking about.

sweet... *nods and smiles, satisfied*

~Slytherin_Heir~ 08-31-2005 01:02 AM

It all sounds like it fits. I mean, who else do we know that goes by those initials? It does seem like the obvious choice, but I wouldn't go assuming things...I mean J.K. could have a surprise in for all of us. It may even be somebody we don't even know yet.

did anyone read the questions that were asked too! i think i know where the real horcruxes is! remember the locket that was found at Grimmauld Place? in the drawing room that nobody could open! it has to be the horcrux b/c if regulus took it then why not hide it at his house if his house is unplottable and has all those other charms on it!

Madame_Tonks 08-31-2005 01:29 AM

I was guessing that after I read it... Awesome backround story.

xye 08-31-2005 01:33 AM

i agree that R.A.B is regulus black but still its on jk rowling if that true or not..

kody 08-31-2005 02:12 AM

I actually haven't read HBP yet though I'm sooooo close now, and so I have no dea what you're talking about- kind of- But it probably was Regulus Black cos' why else would JK have bothered to mention him in The Order Of The Phoenix?

rongranger 08-31-2005 03:00 AM

the only thing I don't really understand, is where they got his middle name from. We know that it is not mentioned in the books, so the only other source is Jk herself, so I am definetely treating this as a big rumor. Although it looks clear, I still think that there is much more behind it that what meets the eye.

Prof Slughorn 08-31-2005 03:33 AM

I think we all on Snitch Seeker already worked out that RAB was Regulus Black, but it was a bit too obvious, if ya know what I mean.
Who was the source?? And how did they find out What Regulus' middle name was?? Interesting.

Foxy Dancer Chick 924 08-31-2005 05:36 AM

the R and B of The R.A.B we all knew...so now the middle name is revealed too...we all knew he must have a middle name that wasnt revealed to us in the books..but whoever it is that has let this knowledge be known..well i keep on thinkin who it is ??
and I dont think Jk will admit to the real identity of R.A.B until in the 7th book..but surely never before it!

Dumbledore kinda said the same thing to Malfoy..in HBP...that is no-one goes to look for a dead person..if he's made to look like he's died.
But anyways ..i dont think that sirius is alive ...he died in OoTP

.. Noone does go looking for a dead man, because if they are dead, then you won't find them walking around, spying, or recruting others to The Order Of The Pheonix....
