Manips are so hard, especially to get the correct lighting and tone and just make it all look natural. But you do such a great job with them! And I love those messy teens lmao |
Baylen is a character who I had at Hogwarts for Term 47 & 48, though only as a secondary character and he was never posted in the school forums (just Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade) and previously attended Durmstrang. He is a dancer and it has been his passion ever since he was crawling. However, because we all love some angst, in his final year at WADA he experience an accident during a final showcase rehearsal that landed him in St. Mungo's and with both knees barely functioning and in need of serious reconstruction healing to be followed up by a year of rehabilitation. He, therefore, graduated a year late (2099-2100 school term) and switched his major from a dance focus to one with more of an emphasis on choreography. This showcase was a representation of how he saw himself fitting into the history of dance as well as his own emotional journey with it, accumulating in his first dance post recovery as the final number. 'Shift' was a word that stuck out because he was forced to do a lot of that in light of his injury, not just in practical reasons for how he had to live day-to-day, but also in his way of thinking and how he approached life in general. Every totally obliterated a Gryffindor with their own passion? It's not a pleasant experience ❝ s h i f t |
Temp is so proud of this, especially with it being the end of her first year - but the night was so emotional in many ways XD <3 |
You're my manip tutor, and this is exactly one of the things I struggle with - the matching of quality of photo, as well as light and shadow and coloring. You're so so good at figuring it out, and yours looks so good up there. As for Baylen's poster, I love everything about it. It's really believable as an advert, and I love the juxtaposition of the color and black and white. Pretty pretty pretty. |
I love your manips, Pixie, but man, that poster is profesh AF. :whaa: Seriously, it looks like something I'd see on a college campus. :loved: |

THANK YOU! I was especially proud of the composition and got lucky with a few things. Definitely a multilayered process. That rainbow base with the dancers is all one piece...save for the ballerina's which I added and really everything else is based around that central image. It was just...too Baylen not to use. Thank you Google. Quote:

I found this while going through my old Photobucket and I sadly have...no clue what term this was for or even the specifics of the assignment other than it was obviously to draw a picture of a number include symbols it represents. Perhaps also how the number is associated with the character because that astrological sign depicted in girl form there is a Taurus and that's Kurumi's sign. Jess?❝ numerology |
:sprinklelove: you are so talented *flop* |
Part two of the comparison prompt (part one here), this one was harder to select colors for. I basically pulled out about 12 colors based on my swatching and then closed my eyes and picked four from that pile to decide on which colors to use - and they turned out to be a VERY Easter-y palette. Just like with my least favorite colors, I wanted to do a comparison within a comparison and drew two of my least favorite things. My 7-year-old gave me the tomato idea and then I was going to do a rhinoceros beetle but my dad suggested a spider instead. Regular spiders (especially the tiny ones) make my skin crawl a bit too much so I settled on a tarantula instead ❝ thumbs up |

DID YOU DRAW THE TARANTULA? Why are you so talented? I love this prompt! |
right?!?! AMAZING spider :whaa: |

I remember making this for a specific purpose but upon rediscovering it semi recently I do not remember WHY  other than recalling how I slaved for hours and hours over trying to find just the RIGHT font and getting frustrated that I could not and then I think I just locked this up and threw away the key...only to find it again now several years later ❝ TDK |
A private request from Lulu for her character. The base image of Alisha Nesvat required no altering what so ever (minus a mask layer to soften up the edged a bit) and the colors I essentially swatched from that with the addition of a gradient layer I set to color to give it that green - turquoise coloring. You can see my layers used for this project here.❝ Barbara Finch |
Kath! I missed your TDK graphic, and I love the gothic rock boys feel. Even if you had to do it to hide the hair... it looks like a DECISION. As for the Barbara graphics you just posted, the colors are SO GOOD. I adore it. You're so good at coloring. |
A couple of years ago it was suggested to me that I give coloring a try as a means of unwinding and centering myself. I hadn't considered coloring since I was in elementary school so I was a bit skeptical BUT I decided to give it a go and ordered a few adult coloring books per SS member Angie's suggestion and tacked on a few others that spoke to me and got myself a nice set of colored pencils just to dip my feet into things...and I am so glad I did.❝ life is like a mountain |
Gosh, Pixie, that's sad but beautiful. :( RIP Connie! <3 Thank you for posting a pic of your layers on that graphic, btw. So helpful for PS novices like me. That set is amazing and so are you. :glomp: |

you sure know how to make me blush, Ern  Quote:
You are HARDLY a novice, Ro. GOSH! But I remembered seeing someone do this same thing on Livejournal BACK IN THE DAY so I thought I'd do that too  |
Something I started with my previous school character was creating a template for their profile pictures used in bios for site that would remain the same in aesthetic while the image of the character themselves evolved over their years at school. Eiji, my first second generation character, has been at Hogwarts since his first year but I only played him on site since his fourth while I finished up the latter half of my Hufflepuff. It's fun to see the evolution of your character :pea:❝ Eiji Rasting through the years |
Instagram has been very...VERY kind to me recently in suggesting people to follow (how I discovered several of the older faces for some of my characters!) and Angelo Carlucci (you're all welcome ) is someone I'd been following for a while now and was recently enable to create a dragonologist character. This, of course, also meant some new signatures.❝ Krzysztof Zamojski |
Yay, graphics sharing! Font selection is terribly persnickety, and you're always really good at it. How many fonts do you think you've downloaded? What causes you to go 'shopping' for a new one instead of using one that you've already got? |

I honestly check out dafont every now and then just to see what pops up on their recently added fonts and...that usually starts the spiral if I like something  also sometimes I will be making a specific graphic that I feel requires a certain KIND of font (like comic book or handwritten) and I go browsing...and then am basically like someone who is going to the grocery store on an empty stomach and download 50 new ones at a time  and yet...I still always fall back on the same 3 at any given time. Those main three may rotate in and out depending on what my aesthetic is feeling at the moment |
Ashley requested a set for her aspiring fashionista and designer so after taking an excruciatingly long time going through the FC's instagram and much commentary from certain character voices over my shoulder, these were created. Again, I really did not do much with the original image because the coloring was so nice already. Just a couple of adjustment layers to help heighten the warm tones and accent the pinks. One thing I often struggle with, on top of picking out fonts, is then what color to make them. For this set I used the eyedropper tool and selected some pinks from her lips until I found a shade I liked and was not too dark (too much contrast) or too light (hello, no canz read) against the grey-silver background.❝ Dementria Floros |
Recently I was asked about the siggies in my rotation (please check out the Gladrags forum and specifically the submit your signature thread for how to do this if you're curious!) and if I would post a master post of sorts in here to share. Almost all my brain babies are featured here and are, for the most part, active - there are exceptions but I like the siggies too much to remove them. I have a check-list of siggies I still want to make so this number may grow in the future and some may shuffle out of circulation as the characters continue to go on with their lives without me ❝ siggy rotation |
