Which book had the most humor? I think that JKR has a lot of humor in her books, but some books more than others. Which one do you think was the funniest? I personally thought the Order of the Phoenix. |
I also voted OoTP. The Fred & George stuff was just too funny! |
I voted CoS. Lockhart was simply priceless!! I found the first book inventive and witty but not really laugh-out-loud funny. And books 3 to 6 were quite dark and not exactly full of out-and-out humour. My fave line from CoS is: "Sword? Haven't got a sword. That boy has, though. He'll lend you one." Too good... |
Thing are funny when they are different than you expected. As the introduction to the world of magic, this book is loaded with humor. What is funnier than Hagrid arriving with a baby on a motorcycle and conducting magic with a umbrella? There is too much humor in Diagon Alley to even begin to list them. How about the snake at the zoo or the invitations for Harry to attend Hogwarts? The chocolate frog, moving staircases, platform 9 3/4 etc. This book is tops in humor. |
I Love this one quote from The Order of the Phoenix: (pg.65. of uk version) "Some of them are working on recruiting more people to the Order-" Said Hermione. "And some of them are standing guard over something" Said Ron" They're always talking about guard duty" "Couldn't have been me, could it?" Said Harry sarcastically. "Oh, Yeah" said Ron, With a look of Dawning comprehension... Harry snorted. HAHA! Ron is hilarious! this was one of the funniest quotes ever, even though the book as a whole isn't as funny as the others, that one quote I think was the funniest over all, I can just imagine Ron acting like that!! |
Definately OotP!! Fred and George are so funny when they leave and Ron is funny too. |
The Order of the Phoenix it was v funny |
The Order of the Phoenix! Fred and George are great! |
I voted HBP :D. |
OotP was funny becuase Fred and George where the comic relief in that entire series simply because it was the book where things where officaily going to be extremely dark weather Harry wanted it or not. |
It's got to be HBP. The Won Won scenes are superb! |
I don't know, there are quiet a bit of funny things throughout all the books. Some are even funnier because they're not very obvious. Like the password to Gryffindor tower was "Abstinence" once, and that was very amusing to me. |
probably OOTP what with fred and george calling Umbridge an old bat, the anarchy that goes on through out the castle when Umbridge becomes headmistress, McGonagall lending Peeves her walking stick to hit umbridge and telling him which way to unscrew a chandelair, flitwick slamming the door in umbridge's face, McGonagall and Umbridge in the careers advice, also Luna Lovegood's blatant honesty, the weasley wizard wheezes items, and arthur and Molly at st mungos when he tries to explain he had muggle stitches, and the regurgitating toilets he had to sort out at the beginning, so all in all OOTP is the funniest book I think. |
I'm not really sure. All the books have humor in them |
Honestly, I love all HP books... I voted GOF because its full of new stuffs like the amazing triwizard tournament, new actors, dragons, voldemort in whole flesh etc. its kinda cool and fun. :loved: |
i put hbp bcoz of fred n geroge but my second was ootp |
Order of the Phoenix. |
Order of the Pheonix 2.... coming close to half blood price... |
OoTP definitely. the twins were hilarious and McG, too! let's not forget Peeves of course.. |
I would have to say ootp |
All of the books have humor in them but the OOTP had the most humor because of what the Weasely twins did to Umbrige. :rotfl: :twins2: McGongall and Peeves were funny too. |
I tend to agree with all of you. All the books are loaded with humor, and it kind of depends on your sense of humor. I like the later books because of all the "hormonal humor". :poke: |
Order of the Phoenix, just for the fact that Fred and George pull the biggest prank off. And OotP is really the calm fun bit before the responsibilities of HBP. |
i thought OotP had the most humor |
I cant decide because it seems as they get older they just get funnier, they are all funny and good though... i couldnt pick one, it depends what you find funny aswell i supose |
The ootp because of fred and george, cant wait to watch the movie. ootp just cause fred george and fred and george |
I wonder why nobody pointed out the line (forgive me if they had) where Ron consoled Harry after the Divination OWL that he'd been describing in detail, the picture of a man with a wart on his nose, and only to look up and discover it was his examiner's reflection... HAHAHAHAHA i laugh just by thinking of it!!! It's definitely got to be OotP. |
i voted OotP |
OoTP definitely! Fred & George made it so! All those tricks on Umbridge! |
All of the HP books have humor, of course. But OOTP has the most so far.. |
I voted OotP. Fred and George was funny....U no Poo....ha ha ha.... |
OotP had a lot of humor, but I think the very dark parts balanced out the mood of the whole book. I hope the movie coming out will be as good and funny as the book, or close to it. |
i want to vote for OotP but i clicked on GoF instead but GoF AND Ootp are both very funny. |
Definitely Fred & George in OOTP! U-No-Poo is definitely the funniest thing ever! No matter how many times I read that book, I still laugh at that part. I was reading at the gym and started laughing and everyone near me was looking at me funny. LoL! But that part is too good so I really didnt care! :twins: |
Normally I would say that OotP, the the book is so dark that the funny don't really cover it up. I think that the whole book wise, the CoS is probably the most funny, but bits and peices, difinately the OotP. |
:erm: I can´t choose between HBP and OotP. Oke maybe OotP was funnier but HBP is a close second. |
OotP defiantly. I think umbridge was quite hateful, but she was hularious at the same time, her face on some of the chapter art. Priceless... |
i think 5 & 6 are funny, coz in 5 Tonks is actually cool and six has loads of great H&G miments that are hilarious e.g *quoteness* She's Ron's sister. But she's ditched Dean! She's still Ron's sister. I'm his best mate! That'll make it worse. If I talked to him first- He'd hit you. What if I don't care! He's your best mate! *end of quoteness* luv it, it sounds better if you read it outloud with the right voices! |
All of them are pretty funny but I like GoF most of all. Ron's got some of the best lines in it and let's not forget... "I'm not puttin' them on, I like a healthy breeze 'round my privates, thanks." :rotfl: |
I voted for HBP because of U No Poo and Luna's commentary at the quidditch match, and Ron & Lavender flopping around like a pair of eels . . . . too many to mention. |
I have decided OOTP, because of fred and george they are soooo amazing lol ill miss them!!! |
Yeah i agree OOTp but because of Umbridge getting carried away. |
I voted Half Blood Prince..... |
All the books have humour to a certain extent, but OotP got my vote. Fred & Georges one-liners were great and the whole Weasleys Wizard Wheezes had me in fits of laughter. |
Order of the Phoenix, hands down! The first book was like an intro so yes it had its humerous parts but it was mainly just to lighten the mood. CoS was just dark! PoA again had a rather dark theme all concentrating on the Potter's past etc. GoF, I was far too concerned with seeing Harry get through the tasks and make up with Ron than finding any humour. OotP, just...two words: 'Fred' and 'George'. My family thought I was mental when I couldn't stop laughing for five minutes. So yes, OotP hands down wins! |
I said sorcers stone, but its hard to choose. chamber of secrets was good that way too. they all have humor but i didnt see that kind of humor much until the sixth, which was verry funny, well until the end :( contrary to most of you, I found that the ootp was the least funny, it was all serious and a bit too dark except of course, the stuff with fred and george. but i have to say they all had a lot of humor! |
I'm going to say OOTP but HBP was a really close second. Both books are hilarious in their own way. the others are funny too but things get much too serious in the 7th book. |
I said OoTP because I couldnt stop laughing when I was reading it! I thought the bit with the Marauders Map and Snape in PoA was hilarious as well though! |
i think the hafl blood prince |
HBP! the won-won scenes were=)) and hermione's reactions:)), oh, and ron when he drinks romilda vane's love potion:)) |
HBP...It was a very light book..Comedy not dark like ootp or DH. |
I'm going to have to go with OoTP as a whole. The twins, R/H/Hr., and McGonagall! I loved the McGonagall vs. Umbrige parts! I also liked the part at the very beginning where Harry gets smart with the Dursleys about the news. There are too many funny quotes to list. SS also had a few good quotes. I love the one by Vernon when Hagrid is talking about Hogwarts. It was the first time I ever really laughed reading HP.(pg. 58-59) Hagrid: "......an' he'll be under the greatest headmaster Hogwarts ever had, Albus Dumbled--" "I AM NOT PAYING FOR SOME CRACKPOT OLD FOOL TO TEACH HIM MAGIC TRICKS!" yelled Uncle Vernon. Also when Hermione said, "I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed -- or worse, expelled. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to bed." after the Midnight Duel and meeting Fluffy incident. That's a classic Hermione.(pg. 162) On page 278 there's a funny Ron/Harry/Hermione scene when they're down in the chamber with the Devil's Snare. CoS also had some great Lockhart quotes, particularly the big paragraph of his in the middle of pg. 91. PoA...I'm having trouble thinking of any funny hilights in it... In GoF I liked the whole first part with Ron's letter to Harry about the big Quiddich game and when the Weasleys come to get him. And who doesn't like seeing Malfoy being turned into a ferret!? HBP was also really funny. There was some awesome, hilarious conversations. I haven't really thought about the humor in DH yet, though. |
I think HBP had the most humour!! I was laughing more while reading HBP than OOTP  JKR is a genius  |
OotP for me. Fred and George were just too funny in that one. |
OOTP, "Give her hell from us!" Wohoo! |
:couchbana kidding i love all te books |
I voted OOTP :) |
I wasn't too sure at first, but now I think about it. OOTP had the pure hilarity of the Weasley Twins Vs. Umbridge, which kinda tipped it to OOTP rather than HBP, there's some humor in them all though, even DH! |
I think OotP was the funniest b/c of Fred & George |
Order of the Phoenix. Definately. |
I liked OoTP because of Fred and George |
I liked OoTP because the characters just seem to get funnier as they mature. Maybe its just Jo was getting funnier, Idk. But I certainly laughed my way through all of the Fred and George scenes. |
Well I was going to choose The deathly Hallows but its not there.... I think the deathly Hallows is funny purely because Hermione takes a ragi <--(gos crazy) when Ron comes back and the part when it says her limbs are unlikely to unravle for several years...I just think its funny because you dont see her do that often. :r/hr: Quote:
|
I personally love HBP. I love the Lavender and Ron stuff, its so fun x) But JK really has a good sense of humor, and all of her books is really funny, I think! |
I couldn't choose one-but i love the lockhart scenes in cos, fred and george in ootp and won-won in hbp! also that part in hbp when harry's insides are dancing the conga! :D:D |
i think..Order of the Phoenix(: that was prolly why i liked it so much. the twins and umbridge..haha i loved that book. Quote:

Well they all have rather a lot, but I eould say Order of the Phoenix. |
out of those six its hard to tell , some of them had more of a morbid sort of humor in them, but if i had to say a book that had a bit of humor that actually made me laugh then it would probably be the order of the pheonix, with all the tatoo talk about harrys hippogriff and rons pigmy puff. |
I thought there was some humor in Half-Blood Prince. Particularly with Hermione and Ron. |
I agree, Fred and George's exit in OotP is uncontested. But I also like particular passages in other HP books: Philosopher's Stone Everybody finished the song at different times. At last, only the Weasley twins were left singing along to a very slow funeral march. Chamber of Secrets "A Study of Hogwarts' Prefects and Their Later Careers," Ron read aloud off the back cover. "That sounds fascinating." Prisoner of Azkaban "Would anyone like me to help interpret the shadowy realms within their orb?" "I don't need help, it's obvious what this means: there's going to be loads of fog tonight." Goblet of Fire Dudley had done the thing he was threatening to do since age three: He had become wider than he was tall. Half-Blood Prince "Do you remember me telling you we are practicing nonverbal spells, Potter?" "Yes," said Harry stiffly. "Yes, sir." "There's no need to call me 'sir,' Professor." Deathly Hallows “And as for this book,” said Hermione, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard … I’ve never even heard of them!” “You’ve never heard of The Tales of Beetle the Bard?” said Ron incredulously. “You’re kidding, right? “No, I’m not!” said Hermione in surprise. “Do you know them, then?” “Well, of course I do!” Harry looked up, diverted. The circumstance of Ron having read a book that Hermione had not was unprecedented. |
I could hardly choose - cos has got Lockhart, which probably goes to the top, but I love it in hbp when Ron takes the love potion...:) |
Hard one. I gotta say Order of the Phoenix.. Or the Halfblood prince.. But Gobleto of fire was pretty fun, too. Can't decide. All of them are fun! (: |
I voted for the 5. book because of the twins. They made it quite funny. |
I think HBP had many funny moments. |
OOTP! Fave quote from that book: "Ron, we're supposed to show the first years where to go!"-Hermione "Oh yeah. Hey--Hey you lot! Midgets!"-Ron "Ron!"-Hermione "Well, they are, they're titchy...."-Ron "I know, but you can't call them midgets. . . ."-Hermione So funny! I love those two! |
I definitely agree that OotP had the most humor in it out of the first six. It involved a lot of pranks and jokes from Fred and George, as well as a lot of comments about Umbridge. |
i will have to say the CoS when ron crashes into the womping willow and when he gets the howler from his mother and the deathday party was good too |
it's hard to pick, but I say OOTP... it had lots of humor, especially with the Weasleys... HBP I think had the second most humor, then DH. DH was a little dark, but Muriel was hilarious! |
I voted OotP because I feel that Jk put more comedy in it to balance out the dark parts. |
OOTP Hands down |
OotP, I think. Though DH did have some very funny quotes that I liked. |
Half-Blood Prince:) |
Quote:
|
I agree... Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince |
I voted Half-Blood Prince because of Fred and George's shop, however they were so funny in the 5th one also with trying to get rid of Umbridge! |
Ron and the spiders was jus down rite hilarious for me. |
All the books had heaps of humor but i personally think OotP was the best |
In PoA I was rolling from laugher, so I picked it ;] |
Half Blood Prince All The Way Baby!!!!!!!! |
i think the half blood prince or the order of the phoinex but all the books have lots of humor in them |
i voted ootp but i think the gof and hbp r reaslly funny too |
I seriously had to think about this for a bit. I ended up voting Goblet of Fire; I remember specifically dying of laughter while reading that book. Moaning Myrtle's bathtub appearance was by far one of the funniest scenes in the novels. Also, the fake Moody's antics just cracked me up. I think that is the only time you're allowed to think bouncing ferrets are funny without being in trouble with the ASPCA. And honestly, I wouldn't be able to pick a second. |
Order of the Phoenix was funniest. Fred and George's antics were hilarious, and then Umbridge being carried off by the Centaurs, and Firenze becoming a Divination teacher... Also, Half-Blood Prince was great: the felix felicis potion, Ron and his Quidditch antics, and, of course, the love potion and Romilda Vane...oh, and Ron and Lavender! (Ron is great comic relief in this book). |
I voted Prisoner of Azkaban... all of the Marauder antics always make me smile- not to mention Lupin's class!! However, OotP isn't too far behind! :D |
Definately Order of the Phoinex :D I loved Fred and Georges jokes and thing, just hilarious :D Nat x |
All of them, but Fred and George were hillarious in OOTP |
I voted for CoS but the part where Ron swallows the Love Potion in HBP hilarious :L |
I must say I love how Flitwick & Snape react when Lockhart asked the female students to ask Love Potion & Entrancing Enchantments, but I love Fred & George in Order of the Phoenix more. xD |
picked Goblet of Fire and i also have to say order of the phoenix. Fred and George FTW :woot: |
Well I think HBP, but there has only been three people that have been funny throughout the entire series and they have never failed to crack me up. And they are Ron, Fred and george. They are they only three people that have been funny through the entire series. No one else has ever matched to how amazing they're humor is. |
