Well, I will admit I was shocked when Mad-Eye died. Although, now that I think of it he had escaped death so many times and fought so many dark wizards it was only a matter of time before it caught up with him. Still, I miss Mad-Eye. :rip: :madeye:

When Fred died I was shocked. But, in a way I knew it had to happen, because allot of people probably figured well JK won't kill anypeople like that out. But, she wanted to make sure people knew that this was serious and that a war meant that both good and evil must perish before one triumphs over the other. But, same with Mad-Eye and everyone else I still will miss Fred. :rip: :twins:

Well, when Dobby died I felt that a really great loss had occured. Dobby was a very loyal soul and he died rescuing Harry. I mean if I were to die in some wizard war of some sort I would rather die rescuing someone , rather than dying just because I was marked, or just because a death eater wanted to kill something or somebody. :rip: DOBBY

Tonks and Lupin died just because they did. If you know what I mean by that. It was the same reason Harry's Parents and Sirius died and why Neville's parents were tourtured into insanity, they were determined to make a better world for their child. :rip: :lupin: TONKS

I would like to take a second on one subject for a moment. Harry died, well sort of, and came back to life could you imagine what it would be like when he tells his kids and grandkids: "You know I died once." It would, in a way, be quite funny.

Although many good people died I don't have any more time to write about this subject but we will miss them all.

So many of my favs died... Voldemort, Dobby, Colin, Lupin, Snape, Bellatrix, and Fred

Deadmau5 05-16-2008 11:19 PM

During the whole book, not once did I cry. It was, I admit, sad but I never cried. I was maybe REAL close when Dobby died and when Harry was burying him.

Tommehbell 05-17-2008 08:56 PM

it was a lot of deaths in this book and i even cried when dobby died, i mean she killed off a lot of favorites in this book

i mean she killed a weasley twin, that one hurt, i mean i missed Bellatrix too

there was a lot of tissues going around my house as we read that book:(

Liisa 05-20-2008 07:10 PM

My reactions were as follows:

Hedwig - I never in a million years expected it. WHY Jo!?!?

Fred Weasley - How can George go on without Fred? I know that I can't!

Remus Lupin - a new daddy shouldn't be taken away from us. That's horrible. And that's double for Tonks.

Severus Snape - was the saddest for me. Every since OoTP I have been in love with Snape.

I expected Hermione to die in Ron's arms, or Harry to sacrifice himself for Ginny, or even Luna and Neville. I mean, A twin? An owl? An Auror? I thoguht this would be huge! I thought THE harry potter would die! And she went cliche and brought him bak <_< i did not like that. I did not like the ending. It was so completly cliche. 'He died! Oh nooo he came back from the dead, got married and had a bunch of kids named after all the dead people" <_< Like honestly, I expected better from JKR in that aspect

 Good point. I wonder if the average age of the fandom had any bearing on where she wanted to go. Maybe she capped the misery. I look forward to future works of Jo's, because her ability to create a loveable character and completely crush us with their death is undeniable.

One never messes with a mother and her children, and the fact that she was the one to take down psychotic Bella was awesome. I’m sure Sirius was really proud of Molly.

Aw I didn't think of that. How sweet ^_^ As sweet as a murder can be

Hokai. I will certainly give credit where it is due, and say that Bella was a very interesting and entertaining character. That said, she was evil and bad through and through and had it coming as worse as Voldy, I think. She murdered her own flesh and blood not once but twice and probably more than that. Even without torturing Neville's parents into insanity and killing Sirius and killing Tonks and torturing Hermione and who knows what else, the fact that she's was Dobby's murderer makes her completely exempt of any remorse on my part. GAH.

And what makes the fact that it was Molly pathetic? Personally, I didn't expect Molly to come out like that, and I thought it was quite fitting. That might be the Gryffindor in me talking, but...well, so what?

I cried soooo much when Dobby and Fred died! How will George go on without Fred?! I loved him.

The Elder Wand 06-23-2008 09:52 AM

I still want to know what the Death Eaters did with Mad-Eye's body. I mean did they bury it or did they keep it as a prize or soemthing like that I mean they took the eye off him.

I felt so bad when hedwig died. I even cried a little :(. And most books don't make me cry at all.

I*love*harrypotter 09-20-2008 02:39 PM

I almost cried when Fred died. It was so fun all those tricks they did the previous years...

Nattie 11-01-2008 11:22 AM

I've just re-read DH (yet again) and I thought I'd post (yet again).

The first death that hit me hard was Hedwig. I know people thought that this was a convenient way to dispose of a character that would be troublesome on the journey that the trio were about to undertake. But what got to me was the way that she was mad with him and they didn't make it up. And that she was the symbol really to the start of his journey to becoming a wizard. She was there before Ron and Hermione, His first proper friend, so it just wrenched me a little.

Wormtail - I was expecting so much more. He was meant to be a Gryffindor and throughout he just always came up short. I was really expecting more and was really let down by this.

Mad-Eye - although I wasn't expecting it, I wasn't surprised. It's the whole Dumbledore and Sirius thing isn't it? Harry had to go on alone and Mad Eye was too convenient for Harry to go to.

Lupin and Tonks - Was expecting this. All the Mauraders had to snuff it and if he died, you knew Tonks had to. Expecially saw it when they named Harry Godfather. It did bother me how Lupin was so down in the book. It just reminded me of how Riddle Snr was hoodwinked by Voldie's mum into falling for her. It was like he didn't want to be in the situation and was looking for an out at any opportunity. I just wanted to shake him and shout at him.
I just felt sorry for Tonks that she had to put up with his mood swings.

Snape - You knew he just had to die. And looking at the story, I can't think how it could have been done any differently, however, I didn't like how it was done by the snake.

Dobby - As a character, he was never my favourite, but the way this was written, this affected me most. Just the way that Harry had to dig the grave and everyone else helped without question. The way they clothed him. It just was very touching.

Fred - This was awful. The words "his ghost of his last laugh" really sent chills. I knew a Weasley was gonna die, just not him. It was really sweet that Percy was there and wanting to look after him after he was gone.

Belletrix - Molly got her in the end. She had to die. The amount of terrible things she did and she would keep on doing them. Just because Voldie died, that wouldn't have stopped her. And Molly, just because she was a mother and a house wife, doesn't mean that she wasn't a formidible witch. Ginny had to get it from somewhere. And like mentioned before, I suppose when your children are threatened, there is nothing you will not do. I suppose that is something that Jo was able to draw upon personally, to know a mother's love and that you would kill to protect. I'm glad we got to see her in action.

oribia_blue 03-10-2009 05:16 AM

The death that really shocked me (and shook me to the core) was Fred. He is such an integral part of the books for so long, and provides so much comic relief. I could not breathe when I read that part. I had to re-read it over and over and over again before I could make myself believe that I had just read it. And even then I didn't truly believe it until I had finished the book. It just broke my heart--I couldn't stop thinking about the Weasleys, and how that would break their hearts and their family--only six children, instead of seven. Seven is such a magical number, and now it's broken. And George! I couldn't imagine how George must feel. He had his ear blown off, and now he loses the person he is closest to in the whole world. He couldn't be closer to another person, not even his future wife. And Fred is just--poof!--gone. I do understand why Rowling had to do this--to make us as audience realize that war is not limited to the weak or the evil. It touches everybody, and in such devastating ways. But why the Weasleys? All they've ever done is help as much as they can. They are a family that gives their whole heart, wholeheartedly. They can't do things halfway. They must push on with their whole beings. And to rip one of them away from the rest is the cruelest of all punishments.

Emma:)x 03-13-2009 09:32 PM

They were all sooooo sad! I didnt cry tho, but i was close:L Fred and Dobby were the worst I read them over and over again:(:L

DuckyLinJi 03-14-2009 05:52 PM

when i read DH first, i couldnt believe hedwig died, i had to read back again to see if i had read it correctly, it was so sad for harry because hedwig was his only friend in the muggleworld.

fred's death was horrible, it really got me crying. the way Percy was screaming no -no-no! the whole time while shaking Fred and "the ghost of his last laugh still eched upon his face" quote gave me shivers.

Colin's death did not made me cry but still gave me some shivers because he was under-age and still sneaked back to help and fight , i thought that he was a true Gryffindor at heart , bravely stupid.

Dobby's death was also sad, i loved harry for digging his grave without magic.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 03-15-2009 07:19 AM

The only death I really cied over in DH was Dobby's. The funny thing is though is that I really did not want to, I had not read the books in a while and could barely remember Dobby from COS but the death was just so heric and emotional I could not help it.

After reading the way Fred died I was devastated and disapointed, I could only cry a few small tears cause the death was not emotional enough. I really wished his death was more like Dobby's so I would have the capacity to cry for him more cause I really wanted to. What I was also upset about pertaining to Fred's death was that we never saw George's reaction and that haunted me for weeks till I found this video on youtube YouTube - George Weasley - Farewell to Fred
After I watched this video several times I finally found closure.

The last death that really tugged on my heartstrings was Severus Snape, origially when I first read about his death I was thinking oh my gosh, why, and shed a little tear but as I got through the chapter with the memories I was truly chilled to the core so much so that I did no cry cause I was just in awe.

Snape Forever 05-06-2009 11:53 PM

Some of the deaths were terribly sad. Snape, Fred, Tonks, Lupin and Dobby. :snape2:

JackW092 05-11-2009 06:16 PM

Fred was one of my favourites. I didn't want him to die

Davvy_Wavvy 06-14-2009 01:16 AM

Hedwig-- why???? for peace sakes man..he could have just left her in the owlery

Mad Eye-- seen too many wars...RIP war veteran it was pretty sad though, I grew so fond of him *cue the tears for the rest of the book*

Fr...Fred-- *wipes tears* its been two years and it was all fiction and I'm still not over it..*points to user name* since sorcerer's stone, he's hooked me and she just took him away...just like that...not fear...I wud sacrifice Dumbledore two times over if it would have saved him

Dobby -- I didn't know I would have cried so hard for him but that was sad

Erindipity 07-28-2009 02:04 AM

i have to say i dont think i have cried so much reading a book in quite some time!! goodness.... i think fred, lupin, tonks, and dobby were the ones that REALLY got me crying!! when he brings his mom dad sirius and lupin back with the stone right before he goes off to die and he tells lupin he didnt want him to die after teddy having just been born.... I WAS BAWLING!!! JK's description of fred dying and percy's reaction....WOW..... it was fantastically written and i cried like a child. and dobby...poor little dobby... when luna gave the eulogy (SP) of sorts i felt like i had lost a friend too. as a matter of fact i felt like i knew all of those who died and it HURT when they died!! JK is a genius and im sad that the harry potter series is over!!

fuchen_Slytheringirl 08-14-2009 04:11 AM
