And and AND--I just--I feel like I'm SO productive here--and I get to help SO MANY PEOPLE!!!" she was ranting. A positive rant, but a rant nonetheless. And she couldn't help SQUEAKING in excitement, either.
Was it appropriate to tell your boss you had a boyfriend? Ember didn't think so. So she'd keep quiet about that exciting news. But who knew--maybe Harmony would SENSE it somehow, in her.
"Oh yes! The members--certainly so! AND AND AND I welcomed Miss Quinn on her NEW position--Deary ME, I do sure miss BRYCE but--Emmalee is good at her job--" even if a bit dense with creatures, she was VERY SKILLED with plants. And scary. So. yeah.
"But..I DID have...thoughts in mind....for our poor...mutants." She sighed a little. Was she over the lost mutant? No. She'd always remember the poor dear...
Ember's energy was contagious and Harmony couldn't help but lean forward in her seat some, trying to benefit from closer proximity to such positive vibes. How lucky she was to have an employee who was such a good role model to the others! The red head was a fan. Really, she was.
"Your productivity is always appreciated, Ember! Helping hands are what keep the ministry going, after all. I do hope your work ethic is inspiring others to help out as well." Yes, the department head was full of compliments today. It might have something to do with the delicious kale smoothie she'd had earlier but who could really say?
"Ah yes, I'll quite miss Bryce too." Such a handsome man and so knowledgeable. Harmony was still unsure that she and Emmalee would mesh well but she was willing to try as she believed in cooperation and, well, harmony. "I think so too. Our neighbors on this floor are certainly in capable hands. I was thinking of dropping by and giving her a bamboo." ...Which she should of done ages ago but busy, y'know.
Mutants? OH, the mutants! Harmony smiled, wondering if Ember didn't know about them just yet. "Actually, I've got good news. Our mutant friends are no longer mutants. They're returned to their original state!" And they were much cuter now, if she could say so. "I'm going to put them up for adoption!"
SPOILER!!: Casimir!

Casimir nodded as she explained. "That's good to know," he said. He was rather impressed that she'd remembered his preferences from his application. In any case, he hoped he'd be sent out to help with the other dragonologists, even if it wasn't frequently.
"Well thank you for your hospitality," he said with a nod. "And for the hummus," he added with a chuckle. "I'd best be getting out to meet the other dragonologists, and I'm sure you've got work to get back to as well." She was probably a busy bee managing the whole floor. He couldn't wait to get started.
Lovely man, Casimir was. Harmony was pleased with the way he'd presented himself and his eagerness to jump right into things in the department. That was just the type of employee she'd hoped to attract and she expected great things from him.
"Anytime and do stop by if you have any other questions!" The red head was always willing to hear out her fellow creature crazies. Heh. "Ah yes, of course! I'm sure your fellow dragonologists are anxious to meet you too! Have a good rest of the day, then!"
Harmony though she had good WORK ETHIC? Ember was just..BEAMING from that okay?!?!? It was such a wonderful compliment to hear from the bosswoman. hhehehehe. "Thank you, Harmony." She was blushing fiercely. And all smiley.
"Oh! You should! She'd probably like that! And make her feel welcome. You know our...first meeting with her...was...a little tense." Ember winced. "Vibes are off you know? But she seems a lovely woman--" she didn't want Harmony to think Ember had ANY qualms with the scary redheaded laaaady.
.....EMBER SCREAMED.
Well, it was more of a.....screech of joy, to be exact.
"REAAAALLLYYY?" she asked, bouncing up and down a LOT, clapping her hands together, her bangles all...clanging against one another. She sounded like an overexcited wind-chime. "Ugh! I'm so happy for the dears! I soooo wish I could adopt one--" she sighed. "Maybe I could convince my parents to...take one....I'd love to see how they're doing--are they still here?" she asked, her lavender eyes WIDE.

A little tense indeed. Harmony nodded, recalling the scenario quite well. The newest department head had been quite unpleasant on that day but Harmony hadn't exactly been her serene self, either. There was certainly time to mend the bond between them! "She does indeed. I'm sure we can work things out. We are, after all, neighbors on this floor!" So really, it was necessary for them to.
Oh. OH. Such enthusiasm! Harmony jumped a little and then let out a giggle!snort because she had not expected that reaction.
"Really! They're doing quite well! I was actually surprised to see how much different they look after their treatments! Mutant V is actually an adorable niffler!" With wide eyes and a grin, Harmony nodded her head. Amazing, yes?!
"Any of them would be lucky to live with you," She added as an afterthought. It was true, after all.

He wasn't one to bother his fellow department heads very often, or at all, but today would be the exception. With one and in his suit pocket, and the other carrying a small carton containing colourful macarons, Rainey strutted his way through level four to Harmony Skylark's office. An interesting woman, if ever he met one.
Rainey removed his hand from his pocket to knock, but paused in his action to read the sign the was fixed to her door. Check his harsh vibes? Oh heavens, he had no harsh vibes... at the minute... in fact, he was down right pleasant today... for now.
After knocking, he took a small step back and waited to be addressed, of course, he wouldn't mind stopping by some other time if now didn't suit. His schedule was as flexible as he wanted it to be.

One Harmony Skylark could be found sitting cross-legged on top of her desk, eyes closed and completely relaxed. Mid day meditation had become a staple for the red head since the whole mutant debacle and it was proving quite beneficial for her health and her mood. Not that she'd ever had too much trouble with the latter. Generally gregarious, she was. Which is why a knock on the door was welcome.
"Come innnnn!" Harmony's voice was sing-songy as she opened her eyes and sat up, streeeetching her arms above her head. Perhaps her company would join her for a bit of laughter yoga? It did wonders for one's aura color, also one's abs.

Come in. Upon hearing those words, Rainey placed his free hand on the door knob, twisted and opened. Bright colours and strange cells immediately assaulted his senses. Ms. Skylark really was one special woman. Very special woman.
"Good day, Harmony," he greeted as he stepped inside and closed the door promptly behind him, "I come bearing gift." Offering her the small carton he bowed his head in her direction before joining her on the floor - uninvited, but nevertheless he wasn't about to be refused. It was amazing he was making this effort at all, his joints were stiff, but he would live to complain about it later.

"Hello!" And to a handsome colleague, no less. Harmony was pleased. She so rarely got pleasant visits from her fellow department heads but this one had come and with a gift, too. That was certainly unexpected. "This is incredibly kind of you!" Opening the carton, the red head smiled at the array of colorful macarons and then closed it again, setting it to the side. Chat first, then food. That was the plan.
"Yes, of course. What is it you'd like to talk about?" The creatures department head was intrigued.

Incredibly kind, that was him all over. Rainey smiled politely bowing his head a little as he did so. There were so many things to like about Harmony, and the fact that she had her priorities straight where business was concerned was one of them. Niceties he could do, but it was far easier when he was able to cut to the chase.
"I need your help, I think," he started a little uncertainly. "Or at the least, your advice. See I find that my staff are... not very apt with communication but furthermore, they have significant trust issues which is making working efficiently impossible." She could see how this might be a problem, yes? And this is where she came in.
"I was hoping you might have some advice for me? A magic trick up your sleeve? Perhaps a meditative technique to set them on the right path?" he rattled off, taking into consideration the activity he was clearly interrupting. If anyone knew how to appease and win over the masses, it would be her, he was convinced of it. There were other ways he could set his staff straight, but none that wouldn't make it into headline news.

Harmony was terribly saddened to hear that there was some communication issues and mistrust among the members of the Law Enforcement family. How on earth could you function a unit that way? It simply would not do. No wonder the poor man's aura was pulsating a lemony-yellow.
Reaching out, the red head put a gentle hand on Rainey's shoulder and squeezed. Her hand then went back to her lap and she smiled reassuringly. "It sounds like what you need are some team building activities. Perhaps some trust exercises would do? I think that would definitely help given your situation."
Raising her hands about her head, the creatures department head stretched, eyes on the ceiling. "You could always have members of your staff work in pairs, one blindfolded. This requires them to use communication skills to accomplish a goal." Oh! oh! She had another idea, too! "Or break them into teams and put them into scenarios like the ones they'd experience in the field, ones that would require them to rely on each other to make it out successfully!" She looked back at him again and nodded seriously. Did those sound good?
Right. It had to be done. So, why was Emmalee so hesitant to go follow-up with Harmony after their run-in on Diagon? It was only a simple request that she had to make, and yet she had some trepidation. This was dancing all over the personal/professional line she had tried to draw so starkly but... well, this was unavoidable.
Raising her hand to knock, Emmalee took a deep, steadying breath, before rapping her knuckles against the door.
Here goes.

"Come innnnn!" Harmony's voice was cheerful as she called out from her place behind her desk. She was looking over some numbers, trying to see if they could swing for a special room for the dragon researchers, a suggestion that had come from one of their newest additions to the department. The red head had been pleased with his idea and now it was her job to try and bring it to life. She just wasn't sure they could swing it, but she was going to try.
Deciding the knock on the door meant a small break from her current business, she set things aside and sat up a bit, stretching her arms over her head. Yup, that felt nice. Now who could it be at the door?

A small part of Emmalee had hope the woman would be out and that they might be able to avoid discussing Emmalee's visible aura or whatever it was the older woman had seen on Diagon.
But Harmony had answered, and so Emmalee opened the door and slipped in, standing just inside. "Harmony, hi," she began, offering a bit of a smile. "I was... hoping you might have a minute to talk about our last conversation." It was important to the Department Head that her colleague understood her desire for... discretion, even if the last thing she wanted to do right now was have a personal conversation.
"I can come back later, if not."

Their last conversation. Harmony considered Emmalee for a moment, recalling the gut feeling she'd had last time. The overwhelming sense that her aura was trying to tell her something that the environmental department head did not yet understand. The feeling was still there now, actually, and Harmony simply nodded her head."Yes, of course we can talk. Take a seat. I've got some green tea, if you're interested."
Without waiting for an answer, the creatures enthusiast went ahead and selected two of her favorite cups. One had a lovely unicorn on it and the other, well that had a phoenix. She was a creature cup collector, too. One could have so many passions in life, y'see. It was all about finding joy in the little things.

"Tea would be great, thanks," she said, as she stepped fully into the office and shut the door behind her. This was, after all, a private conversation. Settling into a chair, Emmalee folded her hands in her lap, waiting for the tea, and taking note of the creature themed cups. Of course.
How did she want to go about this? Emmalee took a bit of a breath, looking more at the top of Harmony's desk than at the woman. Lifting her eyes she figured she may as well just jump right to it. "When we ran into each other on Diagon, you said something... about my aura" she dragged out this bit and made little starburst gestures with her hands "pulsing, or something..." She trailed off, because she knew Harmony would remember what it she had said it implied and Emmalee refuted.
"You weren't wrong."

"You weren't wrong."
Harmony prepared the tea, humming to herself as she did. She was in good mood, relaxed and centered. She hoped such vibes would be given off and embraced by Emmalee, who seemed a bit nervous. The green tea would help ease that, too.
"Sparkling. Your aura was sparkling." Skylark gestured towards the phoenix cup and then slid it closer to her fellow department head, serene smile in place. The smile grew at the woman's next words and she nodded her head because yes, of course. "I'd say congratulations are in order, then. You must be excited." Harmony was. Excited for her, that is. It was an amazing thing, knowing you were going to bring life into the world.

Sparkling, right, of course. Emmalee nodded, smiling softly as she took the tea. "We are," she said, sipping. "Some, rearranging of plans, of course, but, yes.. very excited." And that was about as personal as Emmalee was going to get.
The redhead cleared her throat and set her tea down, remembering the reason she came in here in the first place. "The reason I wanted to talk, though, Harmony..." her tone had gone quite serious. "We're not ready to tell people. It's still early and we want to wait until after the wedding, as well, so.. so I came to ask for your... discretion."
Not that she thought the woman would go around gossiping, but all it would take was a well-intentioned inquiry in public or some ridiculous 100% natural fiber onesie left outside her door, and the kneazle would be out of the bag.

Harmony simply nodded her head. A new addition meant all kinds of rearranging, she imagined. Still, it was a wonderful reason to adjust plans, wasn't it? The red head certainly thought so.
The creatures department head sipped on her tea as the conversation took on a more serious tone, noting the way in which Emmalee's aura went from pale to bright yellow in such a short time. Understandable, of course. "You need not worry, Emmalee. I have no reason to air business that is not my own. I won't speak a word of it to anyone." That was a promise.

Emmalee smiled easily, relieved. Sipping her tea, the woman relaxed noticeably, convinced that her news would stay private at least for a little while longer. "I really appreciate that, Harmony, thank you."
Emmalee set her hands on her lap, tea resting on her leg. "I suppose I also owe you a bit of thanks for saying something in the first place," she said, looking up kindly. "I mean, I would have found out eventually, but I only checked as early as I did because you did."
And knowing earlier had meant an earlier start to just about everything. For that, she was grateful.

"Not a problem." Harmony returned the smile with a serene one of her one and then sat back in her chair, comfortable and content.
"I was sure I had offended you when I pointed it out," The red head admitted. "Not everyone believes such things. I'm actually surprised you looked in to it." But it seemed to have worked out for the best and Harmony was glad about that.

"Generally, I don't," she said sipping her tea with a bit of a smirk. She found the whole divination, seeing, aura lot to be a bit.. circumspect, personally. But all the same... "But you having said so certainly changed how I interpreted some other symptoms."
"But I was merely surprised, not offended, rest assured." Emmalee finished her tea and set the cup down. Well, despite outward appearances, this had been an uncomfortably personal conversation and Emmalee was eager fro it to be done.
"I'll.. send someone by about that mooncalf dung," she said, as she stood to make her way to the door. It was.. time to step back over that personal/professional line.

Harmony simply nodded. She knew how many non-believers there were in the world and as so many did not possess the gift, she could hardly expect them to understand how and why it worked. Still, it was good to hear that she had not offended the woman in any way. That could've thrown the vibes off on level four in a big way.
Rising from her seat when the red head did, the creatures department head smiled and nodded her head. "Of course. Enjoy the rest of your day."
It didn't take her long to be pointed in the right direction. This was where Aron told her to go, Harmony Skylark was who she was meant to speak with. She took in the name , making sure she had it right, then politely knocked. She recalled what Aron had to say about the woman and held her breath, smiling with the file in her hands as she waited patiently.
