The Divination classroom is prepared for another lesson with Professor Curious, with three seemingly blank canvases on easels sitting at the front of the class near her desk. On the other side, a whiteboard displays the day's topic in neat cursive:
Professor Curious stands near the canvases, waiting for her students to settle before beginning. Her face radiates its usual warmth, a reflection of her love for teaching. Perhaps this warmth is partially responsible for combatting the frigid weather, for Heating Charms also ensure that the classroom is comfortable. The seating arrangement remains the same for this lesson: individual chairs and desks. Grab yourself one for Sarika will be starting things off soon!
OOC: Welcome to this term’s Divination lesson! Please ensure that you have read the Rules and Guidelines, paying particular attention to the first rule that falls under the OOC category: labelling your posts with your student's name and House. A gentle reminder to also keep your character's chatter to a minimum. In addition, while this is the only OOC lesson for the term, IC-wise, it would not be the first/only being held CLASS HAS STARTED!

Diego arrived with his textbooks and usual supplies, his friends by his side when he emerged. The warmth basked him like a blanket, with comfort yet mildly overbearing, but in a good way.
"Hello, Professor." Diego nodded Professor Curious seemed more happy and relaxed than she usually was as of late. Another positive. He looked around the room to see canvases. Oh, were they going to be drawing? or painting? It seemed his thoughts were answered with the writing on the board.
Interesting, he went over to pick a spot and wait until the lesson began.

Ah, one of the students who excelled at Divination. It was unsurprising that he was surrounded by friends - Viano included. “Hello, Diego. It’s lovely to see you as always.” Sarika gave him a smile; she’d have been pleased to know that he had noticed her increased happiness and calmness levels.
With the clock hitting the time designated for the lesson, Sarika moved closer to the seated students. “Good morning, everyone. Welcome to yet another Divination lesson!” Clearly she was rather enthusiastic to be hosting another one. As usual. “Now, I know you must be quite curious -” No pun intended there with that coincidentally being her surname. “About the canvases. We will be getting to that shortly. For now, I would like for you to tell me: when you first look upon a face, which feature - or features - draws your attention almost immediately. Why do you think this is so? You may answer both questions or just the first.” Sarika allowed her students to digest her words, scanning the classroom for raised hands soon after.
OOC: the first questions are up! Your characters are free to answer the initial one or both! Can’t wait to see those responses!

Diego wondered if maybe he could bring his blanket next time to class. But then again, it just might increase the urge for him to take a nap during a lesson. Not the best time for one.
Eventually, the lesson began with the first question. Diego knew there were a couple Curious students in the class today, so he gave the tiniest of a smile hearing that. As for the question, he didn't have to consider for very long what features drew his attention. "The eyes. Other than the colour, we're conditioned to look at someone's eyes to show we have their full attention." Adding, "So we end up noticing the unique designs in them."

That was an excellent reason not to bring a blanket to class. Though, if Diego - or any of her other students fell asleep - Sari would whip them up a cup of green tea with a hint of matcha. That always worked wonders.
The sixth year’s was the first raised hand that the professor spotted so naturally, he was called upon to start off the discussion. “Quite right you are, Diego. Though there are those who have trouble looking in another’s eyes for various reasons, eyes are naturally what many are drawn to first. Whether it’s due to showing attention, because of their shape, colour or any other uniqueness.”

With their being no other raised hands, Sarika now began to slowly make her way through the rows of desks, occasionally pausing at a few. “While facial features are obviously limited, and they may give us clues to someone’s personality, it is vital to remember that appearances alone cannot reveal the entirety of a person's character.” Divination, after all, was subjective. “Before we move on to our first activity, I would like each of you to choose one facial feature and share what you believe it might signify. Do you think the eyes represent a curious soul, for example? Let’s put those proverbial Thinking Caps on, my Oracles!”
OOC: Second question is up! Just a reminder that ketchup catch-up is allowed!

Divination.
Unlike most of her family before her, Ry actually really enjoyed this class. Now, don't think she was overly good at the subject as that would be completely wrong. The young girl was learning in every aspect of the word. She did look forward to these classes however and today was certainly no different. There was an obvious spring in her step when she had entered the classroom earlier, usual smile in place as she had greeted the Professor warmly upon taking a seat at an empty desk.
Her things were carely laid out on the desk in front of her, bright eyes catching sight of the word written on the board. What it meant, Rylan had no clue what's so ever. She was sure she would be figuring it out soon enough. And just like that, the lesson began. Her attention was captured right away with the first question. Her hand had gone up with the simple response of 'their smile'. That was usually the first thing she noticed. Her reason being that a smile is generally welcoming (most of the time) and friendly. That a lot can be told from a smile.
Now for that second question... Well that was going to take a minute. Some consideration had to be taken on each facial feature. Was she really only meant to choose one? This was going to be difficult for such a curious indecisive mind such as hers. Ry shifted in her seat, lightly chewing at her lower lip in thought. Quiet deliberation was clearly happening within her head. Should she stick with her previous answer or stray onto something else? Slowly her hand lifted into the air. "The eyes." Nod nod. "My mama always says the eyes are the windows to the soul. That you can tell a person's true self by looking into their eyes. I don't think I'm very good at that yet but my mama always knows what my siblings and I are thinking or if something may have happened just by looking us in the eye." Actually nearly all the adults in her family were good at that. Was it an adult thing??

Earlier, when Rylan had arrived, she had been greeted with the warmest smile. The Gryffindor’s own was quite captivating, So it was no surprise when that was the exact answer that the third year had given to the first question. Sarika had responded with an enthusiastic nod, highlighting that those could indeed be quite captivating.
The students taking a while to answer was expected. This question required a little more thought and reasoning. Eventually Sari’s gaze was drawn to the first raised hand. “Ah yes, the eyes. Those are said to be the ‘windows to one’s soul’. They truly can reveal a lot in a moment. For example, if one shifts them away with the intention of not meeting another, it can be chalked up to the first person having guilty feelings about something. Excellent feedback, Rylan.”
After checking to ensure that there were no more raised hands, Sarika waved her wand in the board’s direction. Instantly, a detailed list appeared. “Before you, is a list that you will find particularly useful for today’s activity.” She paused to offer a mysterious smile; the students wouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out what that was, however. “The list is self-explanatory but you are always welcome to let me know if you need any clarity.”

With another wave of her wand, the three canvases… well, they no were no longer blank. “Kindly give a friendly welcome to our visitors for today’s lesson, everyone! First, Beaumont Marjoribanks - a scholar in the field of Herbology; George von Rheticus - a famous astronomer; and finally, Google Stump, who is often describe by the other portraits of the castle as the "man with answers”. Sari allowed a moment so that the information could be observed. “Your task today is to use the information provided on the board, and identify the prominent facial features of one of the three individuals who are visiting us. Record your observations briefly, focusing on the features that stand out to you most. There is no need for lengthy notes, jottings will suffice. Please conduct yourselves in an orderly manner. You have fifteen minutes.”
Sarika observed her precious Oracles as they carried about the activity. It was safe to say they were heeding her request by being on their best behaviour. As always, she was proud of them. However, once the time had elapsed, she spoke up again to draw their attention. “That should be it, everyone! Take a minute to wrap up before kindly moving back to your respective seats."
A few more minutes were allowed for everyone to settle back down. “Our main activity is relatively simple. Using your notes, you will each complete a brief writeup sharing your observations and interpretations of the historical figure you chose to study. Compare how the physical characteristics you have identified may connect to the life they may have lived and the legacy they left behind. I will be around, should you have questions. You may begin.”
OOC: Thank you for the posts so far! The activities are pretty straight forward but I’m always open to contact for clarification! The class will wrap up on Friday 30th October! As always, catch-up is allowed!
