The Starry Prophesier Some ways down Knockturn alley there is an old cart owned by a romanian gypsy hag. From the cart two wooded steps come down, and there is a table with two ratty chairs on their side. Above the cart a sign hovers that says The Starry Prophesier. It has been said that Madame Hildegard, the old white haired gypsy hag, with green skin who owned the cart was known to have tasted the flesh of children and muggle borns who came to her cart. Her hook nose was punctuated with a large black hairy mole and her yellow eyes can petrify you if you stare at them too long. Here you may purchase all sort of dark magic divination items and be it Palms, Tarots or Runes, this is the place to get your future read.ooc: Remember that Snitchseeker site rules and the Diagon Alley rules apply at all times. Be careful how you play here. Be respectful of others and understand that measures might just be taken IC if trouble erupts. "Madame..." Atropos said inclining his head to the hag, "Lovely as always... I trust business is going well." It better be anyway... He wasn't going to have her peddling her wares without a good profit he could benefit off of. He waved his hand and left towards the pub. |
Rafe wasn't at all scared to walk into Knockturn Alley, if anything it felt like he was back in Bulgaria. It was dark and gloomy and very much mysterious. When he heard that Madame Hildegard had set up shop here. She was legendary in his homeland and his father knew of her very well. "Good day to you," Rafe said in Romanian. "I hope business is going well for you dear lady." |
With her cloak fully covering the length of her body and her face, Zoey silently approached the cart. Was she scared? Yes. Should she have been down here? Probobly not, but that hadn't stopped her so far. Seeing as the rest of London had pretty much sucked already, this place couldn't be any worse. The sound of her heart pounded in her head. Just the adrenaline, she told herself. Nobody can hear me. or see her face for that matter, just a precaution but it was probobly a good idea. The girl tapped her fingers on her leg nervously beneath the cloak and taking a deep breath. "Hello ma'am." Zoey said, just loud enough to hear. Her fingers grasped her wand reflexively, then let it go. There's nothing to be afraid of. |
Quote:
Or it would be. The smell of children was in the air. Quote:
And the boy who spoke to her in that language! A hiss escaping her mouth, she gestured the boy closer with a bony finger. "Come closer, child. Madame Hildegard is not as young as she used to be." Quote:
Now if only that man she despised so much would drop by. Madame Hildegard had a crystal ball with his name written all over it. "Child." she said, her yellow eyes looking the cloaked girl up and down. "What is it you want?" |
Quote:
Zoey gripped her wand again, this time not letting go. Should she run? Probobly, but she had some business to take care of. "A Moonstone Rune set ma'am." she said cooly. She silently picked out three galleons from the inside pocket of her cloak and held them tightly. She would get her runes, and get out-- simple. And anybody that got in her way would be sorry they did. The girl's eyes were set with determination, fear was long gone. Just like hunting. Yes, daddy had raised her right. Maybe England wasn't so different from Alaska. In any case, she was getting her runes and leaving-- no exceptions. |
Quote:
"I said good day to you miss and I hope business is going well for you," Rafe continued in Romanian. "Did you not once come from a distant land that spoke like this or I'm a mistaken?" The half-werewolf tilted his head and had a quizzical look on his face. |
Ellie hesitated. Should she just walk away? The manky old cart was a bit dodgy looking... and smelling. But she was intrigued by it. She read the floating sign. "The Starry Prophesier." She mumbled. Interested, Ellie carefully walked up to the cart and peeked inside, but saw no one. "Hello? Anyone here?" She called out, trying to hide her nervousness. |
Margery had stumbled upon knockturn alley, and within her reach was everything to make her wildest dreams come true. She was nervous, but extatic. She walked up to the shop keeper, Margery is very well at acting as an adult she was short but very sophisticated and mature, and asked for one 100mm crystal ball, one scrying mirror, one scrying bowl, one bloodstone rune set, one witches tarot kit, and one brass dowsing set. She was very much prepared to spend whatever she had to. |

He had, however, been listening to what Mr. Durmstrang guy was saying. Famous wandmaker? Interning? Huh, he didn't take Nik as a wandmaker type. Perhaps more into some business that tested his physicality. "A difficult job." he nodded, looking around to where they ended up. "I wouldn't have zought you az a wandmaker zough." Grin. "Which wandmaker are you interning wiz?" Where DID they end up? The Starry Prophesier? Hmph, that sounded like a bunch of divination stuff to him. Not a fan. |
Milton was on a very important mission. He needed to get to the apothecary in Knockturn Alley. They were selling a lodestone, that would be very useful in controlling the unfortunate magnetic after-effect in one of his potions. He held his head high as he stepped off the safety of the path of Diagon Alley and into the darkness of Knockturn Alley. Looks were everything down here. He didn't want to appear as out-of-place as he felt. As he was heading to the apothecary he passed an odd cart where dowsing rods caught his eye. Those would be useful. The last thing he needed was for his potion to blow up again because he was unable to tell if the magnetic property was too high. He stopped in front of the cart deciding that he'd need to get the rods too while he was down here. |

They had reached the bottom of the steps and instead of Noel running into the first shop they passed, the French guy continued to walk through the Alley. It was a lot dirtier and smellier now that they were down there all the way, and the people were far shiftier, but no way was Nik thinking about turning around. He actually had things to do and just passing the shop windows, a few things might have caught his eye. And no. He was not thinking about his reflection. Dodging a few more of those shifties, Nikolai turned his attention back to Noel. He'd rather not make eye contact with anyone else..not that he wanted to make eye contact with Noel either.. He nodded his head at the difficult job comment; obviously Noel didn't realize he was having a go at him. And it seemed they both thought the same of eachother. "I think I surprised a lot of people with that choice." he shrugged. "Konstantin Fedorov. He made our wands." As in the Durmstrang Champions. Where were they? "Looking to buy something here?" Snicker. |

It took only seconds for the woman to walk around her cart at the sound of approaching feet, and lucky for her, because business had been slow, the person had stopped. But being a hag of her age, she was not happy about it. She didn't want him to stand around her cart all day and just stare at her merchandise. She wanted him gone, and she didn't care what Atropos had to say about it. Picking up one of the dowsing rods she noticed him looking at, she began prodding him in the chest with it. "You! What do you want?" SPOILER!!: Roselyn and Destiny The prodding of the first man stopped momentarily as two more decided to show their faces in front of her cart. Could none of them see that the green skinned woman did not want them there? And how could she miss the grin on the first man's face and the snickering coming from the second? She had been stared at, laughed at and teased all her life, she was not going to stand there, in front of her cart and do nothing about it. Prodding the first man once again, she picked up one of her crystal balls and raising it above her head, she narrowed her yellow eyes dangerously. "What do you want?" |
Quote:
"You are lucky zen." If this wandmaker was so famous, he must be good. It was always good to have the best education. Although...nothing beat the French wandmakers. That was just a FACT. ...What? Stare. "Non, I juzt..." Erm... SPOILER!!: ze gypzy hag He just couldn't finish his sentence now. Eying the crystal ball in this...woman's?...hand, Noel glanced to the Durmstrang company he currently had out of the corner of his eyes before fiddling with the pockets of his jeans. The other shifty people in this place were looking a lot better now... "We..." Umm. Perhaps it was the yellow eyes that had all the words die before they could even make it out of his mouth. Or maybe it was just because he was afraid of breathing the same air as this person was for fear that he'd end up looking like her. It. Thing. "Nikolai 'ere waz juzt wanting to look at zose...zingz." Those things there. The ones he was pointing to. The shiny crystal balls orb things. Oui? Nik? |
SPOILER!!: Noel & the Crazy Hag Woman Yes, Nikolai thought himself lucky as well. He had his whole life planned out already, and it was that much better because he had his whole life planned out with Mia. Everything was perfect and he would have boasted about it, but seeing as they were standing in the middle of Knockturn Alley, in front of a rather strange cart, he decided it best not to. He did give the French guy a rare smile, though, before turning his attention back to the cart. The cart that Noel wasn't going to buy anything from. Then why did they stop there, of all places? He had opened his mouth to ask, but instead, he had come face to face with the ugliest woman he had ever seen. She had green skin! Screwing his face up a bit, he took a step back as the Hag raised a crystal ball over her head. She wasn't planning on throwing it, was she? Surely not at HIM? Glancing at Noel from the corner of his eyes as he began to explain what they were doing there, Nikolai was tempted to rip the crystal ball from the woman's claws and throw it at him. Why was he being blamed? He wasn't the one that stopped! "Actually." Nik finally piped up after glancing at the things Noel was pointing to. He did not want those! He didn't even know what they were. "My friend Noel here was just wondering if he could owl you sometime. Says he likes your eyes." |
Quote:
"Err... one of those would be lovely. Two. I mean, two. I couldn't do much with one..." he stuttered out. He then stood up straight after reaching a safe distance away. He cleared his throat. Appearances are everything down here. he reminded himself. "I mean one set. I would like one set of dowsing rods." Yeah... that could have gone better. Did he still have time to turn around and leave? |
Ara walked into The Starry Prophesier intent on acquiring her ancient rune set and crystal ball, so that she could return to her slytherin counterparts in Diagon Alley for some quality time before returning to the manor... |
The Hag apologizes to the other folk, she will come back to you later. ;) Quote:
Sometimes the Hag wished her cart was even closer to the steps that led down into Knockturn Alley. She might have a better chance of catching one of those children who thought they were brave enough to venture down, but in reality, they were terrified and changed their minds at the last moment. But then, there were a few that actually were brave enough, and it seemed like today was one of those days. The smell of her brought the green-skinned woman bustling out of her cart, and stopping right in front of the girl, she narrowed her yellow eyes. "If it isn't a person-child." she tsked, "What brings you down here, in Knockturn Alley?" The Hag began to back away, closer to her cart. If the girl wanted to talk, she would have to follow. |
Orchid looked in the cart and on the table seeing immediately what she needed, an Ancient Rune Set. As she walked towards what appeared to be the owner, Rune set in hand she noticed some sort of mirror like object. "Hello, I'd like to purchase this." She said to the store keeper, and tried to hold her tongue, but her curiousity got the better of her - again. "I'm sorry, but what are those mirror-like objects? What are they used for?" |
Jack knew straight away he shouldn't be here. He wasn't the type to do stupid things just because it might turn out fun and you might be fine, and maybe you might meet some interesting people. Well, he was sixteen now, starting his first year at Hogwarts, and he wanted to know all he could about, well, everything. That's the reason he was here. Of course, having been only just introduced to the wizarding world, Jack didn't realise that in certain places, certain people had a certain status. Such as muggle borns, like him. But of course, he didn't know that. |
Brittania walked up to the counter and said, "Hello, I would like to purchase a moonstone runes set." |
Elizabeth pulled her cloak around her tighter. Even though she is a pureblood witch she still gets creeped out by knockturn alley. She walked up to the old cart and looked at the scrying bowls. She made sure her hood was down, leaving her face in shadow. She didnt want to be seen here. |
Quote:
Her green face peered around the cart and her long bony fingers tapped on the wood of the cart as she took in the prospective buyer. "Is there something I can help you with my dear?" |

Easy to please this one. Lifting a silver bowl from the cart, the Hag placed it into a paper bag. She held out her bony hand. "That will be two galleons, thriteen sickles and eight knuts." |

Lydia kept walking down the streets, bags in hands, having second thoughts about the jewelry she bought. It might've been poisoned and she would never know, because she would probably never see heads or tails of the lady again. Didn't she hear something about a date for the lady? She found a small cart up ahead, and walked towards it, not feeling ready to go home yet. She walked over to the cart, interested almost immediately. "Hello? She asked, noticing it was empty except for one lady inside. |
Quote:
Bony fingers wrapped around the back of the cart before a pointed nose, sporting a couple of warts, came into view. The Hag appeared and noticing the little girl, licked her lips. It had been a while since she'd had a good tasty meal. "What can I do for you my dear?" A smile appeared on the old woman's face, showing a few missing teeth. |
Liz walked inside the little shop proud of the money she got from selling at her stand today. She had some money to spend so she decided to use ome of tha money here. So she started to look around the shop to see if she could find anything of use. |
Quote:
"You do reading's here right?" The girl asked, pushing her black hair out of her face and closing her cloaks tighter. She had nothing against this lady, but the way the prophesier was staring at her,it almost sent a chill down her back. The eighteen year old scolded herself. You went through seven years of Hogwarts, met so many weird creatures, and you're afraid of this? She asked herself in disbelief. |
Mike rolled up to the cart and waited patiently for his turn, he needed a new Crystal ball as Emeilia had accidentally broken his. He waited outside the cart, knowing he'd have to levitate himself inside when his turn came. He waited for the kids to leave. He jotted down what he needed. A 200mm Crystal Ball, Unicorns of Strength Ball stand and a Reading. |
Elizabeth came down to Knockturn Alley and again approached the Hag's chart as she did a couple years ago. She had her hood up and around her face, like last time. She was almost due with her baby but tried to hide it with her cloak. She wanted a reading done and this was the only place close by. |
Mike saw his best friend but could tell she didn't want to speak so he didn't either. |
Quote:
All of a sudden her cart had become a flurry of activity. The Hag's beady eyes watched each and every person that walked around her cart. If they so much as touched anything, she would know. If they tried to steal anything then they would be sorry. "I can do a reading for you my dear." A wave of her hand and a table with two chairs appeared. "What kind of reading would you like? Tarot? Runes? The crystal ball?" |
Quote:
Besides that, she didn't want to get a gypsy angry, especially with the stories she was told as a kid. She straightened her back to make herself look taller as the tales of the gypsy lady eating children came back, but kept her composure, not scared, but somehow in the defensive position. It wasn't like she believed them, and the gypsy seemed okay so far, but it was like kind of like when you hear a strange noise, you automatically straighten up. |
Quote:
They always wanted a tarot reading. The Hag gestured for the young girl to take a seat while she herself sat her large behind onto the wooden chair. Reaching deep inside the folds of her robes, the Hag retrieved a deck of cards that were rather tatty looking. Some were dog eared and others were faded slightly but they had been with the Hag for years and have been wrong yet. She held out the deck to the young girl. "Give them a shuffle my dear and then place the deck onto the table and cut it once." |
Quote:
"You must do this a lot." The black haired girl said quietly, focusing her eyes on the cards in front of her. She carefully placed the deck onto the table, and cut it,hoping she did everything right. She never exactly did anything like this before, and she felt like she was being judged as she fumbled on the simple task of shuffling the cards. Feeling like she was being treated like a child, she smirked up at the Gypsy, shuffling in the chair and placing her hands on her lap. |
Quote:
"I've been doing this since before your mother was born." The Hag picked up the cards then spread them across the table. She then looked up from the deck of cards, her gaze resting on the youngster opposite her. "Ask a question, then pull three cards from the deck and place them face down in front of you." |
Liz needd to ask the gypsy hag a question. She saw that she was busy, so it had to wait. She was wonderng if she could learn how to do tarot readings. |
Quote:
Ask ,Job, Marriage now The eighteen year old sighed. How helpful of her brain. She realized she was thinking about this for five seconds, those seconds full of awkward silence while nothing got done. She forced a coherent thought through, which was mostly what she could piece together. "Will I ever get married?" Lydia asked, taking the cards off of the desk and placing them face down as she was told. |
Meghan walked up to the cart, bags that held her other purchases in her hands. While the blond was perusing around Knockturn alley, she had decided to get a tarot reading, seeing as though it was going to be another hour till her father could pick her up. Why not use it looking at her future. Beats walking around another crowded shop. "Hello?" She called to the gypsy hag, wondering if this was the way to greet her. Meghan knew she was probably being rude, but there was barely anyone else around and it wasn't like she was at the queens castle. She was at a cart in the middle of Knockturn Alley, trinkets in hands, waiting patiently to be served by a woman known as the gypsy hag. |
Quote:
The Hag watched the woman. Readings? Purchasing items? Speak. |
Quote:
"I would like a reading please." The young woman smiled gratefully, showing off a set of pearly whites. The thought of her mother's fairy tales crept into her mind, and her pink lips worked their way back into normal position. A memory popped into her vision as suddenly as a memory often did, and as it grew, it latched onto her brain, until it came through, clear as day. She remembered wandering into Knockturn Alley with her Aunt years ago, coming across the gypsy hag and screaming in fright. Her childish scream sounded like the ones from movies. Meghan remembered hiding behind her Aunts skirts, her little hands trembling with the sight of this woman. It wasn't that her looks were frightening, it was the fact that this was the woman from the stories her mom used to tell her. The stories of a woman who liked to devour young children. More sweat, cold sweat this time, prickled on the back of her kneecaps, and a soft breeze seemed to only let it dance on the surface. The young woman tried to keep her face clear of emotions and her sweat stained armpits hidden, wanting to look tough in some way or another. Was it going to work? No chance. Was it going to make her at least feel like something was working in her favor? Yes. And that was what was important. As she waited for a response, Meghan shifted her weight from foot to foot, something she did often. She didn't know why she did it, but she did it and that was the fact of the matter. |
Quote:
The hag was waiting. |
Quote:
"Hurry." The words awkwardly left her mouth, and she felt like she should add something. It was somehow important to her to not let the Gypsy Hag think she was rude. Maybe it was an elder thing, or fear, or perhaps she was slowly turning over a new leaf. "Please." Meghan rubbed her arm awkwardly. "If you want." She was going to have to yell at a lot of people when she got home In order to fix the unraveling taking place here. |
Quote:
Hurry. The hag looked up at the lady. "Why in a hurry, dear?" she asked. "Readings take time." A toothy grin was given to the young lady. Now it was back to business. "Shuffle. And place them back on the table, then cut it. One cut will do." |
Quote:
"I'm not in a hurry." Meghan played with her hair as she spoke. "I just have to get home in an hour and I don't want to keep my dad waiting." If she were being honest, that was a complete and total lie. She wasn't even in a hurry, and her dad was the one that told her to go shopping. He didn't care what time she got home. He had important business to take care of anyway. But, anyway, the deck. She took the cards and shuffled them, smiling at the woman and humming a tune to herself. Now she had to cut the cards. How you did that, she had no idea. She just knew this didn't involve scissors. Or did it? Well, there were no scissors around so it probably didn't. She did a movement and hoped that was right, biting her thumb nail as she did. |
Quote:
The hag took the deck and spread the cards on top of her table. After so, she looked up at the woman. "Ask a question, pull three cards and place them, faced downwards in front of you." Clock was ticking if the woman wanted to go home... |
Quote:
Although she had to know, could you really buy those tarot cards? She would actually try to learn how to do the readings. Or did ladies like the Gypsy hag not give their own readings? Did they not want to know the future after reading it for so man others, or did they just get bored of doing the readings? She would have to ask. Wait, she had something to be doing right now. She had to work on her focus. What was a really cool question to ask? It couldn't be something that everyone asked, and it had to be something she really wanted to know. Those were her two requirements. She heard the hustle of patrons walking around and shuffled in her seat. This was harder than she thought. Marriage? Nah, everyone asked something like that.Career plans? still a question everyone seemed to ask. Maybe she could ask if she was going to find herself a boyfriend soon. OR was that desperate. Whatever. "Will I find the right guy soon?" Ugh! Everyone seemed to ask that. Whatever, it was asked, and genuine, and she worded it differently. She then did as she was told, and put three cards face down in front of her. Again she squirmed, but this time with excitement. And for the record, she had chosen to let the Daddy's girl comment go. |
One more added perk to being the head of her own department: she didn't have to hide her head when she went into Knockturn Alley anymore. Which was good, because there were certain things that you could only get down there. Such as a fortune telling. Which was rather ridiculous when one thought about it, but then again, a lot of the things about Britain's wizarding community were a bit ridiculous. Why should they hide away the fortune teller in the dark alley? Just because she was a hag? Well, the scare would probably do some children some good. Anyway, Roxanne approached The Starry Prophesier, knocked lightly on the counter and waited to be waited on, looking at wares for sale while she was at it. |
Quote:
She flipped one of the cards of the lady. The first one. "It says yes, you will find the right guy." Happy endings. Whatever. The hag flipped the second one. "You won't find him now. Not yet." Patience was required, and the hag had already noted this lady couldn't do that after her experience today. The hag finally flipped the last card. "However you will suffer too much consequences before finding him. Too much consequences." The hag had a small smirk. What could these consequences be? She wanted to know. And she was done with the lady. "Anymore questions?" In case she wanted another reading. Quote:

"We'll, I've always wanted to know if I was adopted or not?" It came out more as a whisper than actual conversation, and Meghan sat certain that The Gypsy Hag could not hear it. However, it was the truth, and the truth must be known. Ever since she was act kid she knew something was off. The hair didn't match that of he parents, and everything about their personalities seemed different. However, she was told that it had something to do with genetics, which sometimes messed up and gave them a 'little blessing' like her. Science class backed up her parents claims, and she had found evidence to prove it, but she had also found evidence for the opposite, and in her objective opinion, that was quite enough. But was she ready to know the answer? And what was she going to do when she knew. Whatever. Those were questions for later. |
Quote:
"Ask a question." Quote:
|
Quote:
"um, I'm sorry, but I wanted to ask if my mother was like my mother. Not my mother like is she taking care of me, but like did she give birth to me my mother." Okay, so that was a run on sentence. As she talked, Meghan played with the metal band of her watch, studying the aluminum as it reflected in the moonlight. She studied her silver nail polish as the sparkles reflected with the moonbeams. This was her tell, her way of showing that she was nervous. Like how some girls play with their hair, the blond eighteen year old studied shiny things. "I mean, if you have time. If you're closing up or something then I can just go. I can always come back tomorrow and ask." Yeah, that actually sounded more pathetic in her head. If that was even possible. "Although, I'd like my reading now. It is important." Wow, rude. She wasn't winning this one. |
Quote:
But she had another reading to do. The hag gave the decks back to the woman. "Shuffle and cut again, just like what you did earlier," the hag told the woman. Hurry up... maybe daddy was looking for his little princess. |
Quote:
However, despite her lack of vocabulary skills, the shuffling and cutting thing wasn't that hard. It made her feel like she was a professional card player too, which was pretty much the weirdest and simultaneously coolest thing EVER. "The cards are shuffled and cut ma'am." It sounded like such a funny thing to actually say out loud. |
Nicole smirked as she walked towards the cart that held the Gypsy Hag. She remembered when she was a kid and heard stories about the Hag eating children. She would always pull her father past the cart at the fastest speed her tiny body would allow. Or if that wasn't possible for some reason, she would yelp and hide herself in her fathers jacket. But not anymore. Actually to be honest, she was quite interested in what the Hag did. Which is why she was here today. Why was she in a black hood however? Because she told her friends that she didn't believe in this stuff and she wasn't going to let them find her. So she walked up to the cart and snickered to herself as she remembered the time she was dared to touch it. This whole event happened one morning when her dad took her and her friend to Knockturn alley. And because her dad had to go meet someone, he left them alone on the sidewalk for an hour. Nicole remembered that she kept staring at the cart, exhaling deeply every time she did so as though getting rid of something. Her friend caught notice and quickly dared her to go touch the cart. Which she did, pushing through the crowd and creeping up in her little Mary Jane shoes. She remembered having no breath because she was exhaling continously, but she touched the cart with her hand and then took off running. She had to push through people to get back to her friend, but it was a huge accomplishment on her part. Anyway, Nicole stood and waited, wondering what her future held (she was getting a reading) |
Quote:
"Come in." She wasn't waiting all day. |
Quote:
"Hello?" That came out as more of a question. Grin! Which Nicole did, though it felt awkward against her cold cheeks. The girl took a breath of somehow fresh air and gained some confidence throughout her soul. Her brown eyes widened and seemed to have a shine about them. She felt ready to lift buildings and conquer small armies. Okay, so maybe that was a bit of an overstatement, but needless to say, the breath of fresh air was strangely effective. "I'm getting a reading, today... please." Again, Nicole imagined her young self with her curly brown hair and brown eyes standing in front of this woman, but she resigned herself to not be as afraid as the child would have been. Not an easy task, and she was sure flecks of fear played at her face. |
Quote:
Once the woman came inside the cart, she gestured her towards the almost-broken chair, probably was starting to have splinters, in front of her table. "What kind of reading do you wish for, my dear?" the Hag asked. |
Quote:
"A reading of the future?" Upon further idea, she thought the words "future reading sounded too.. science fiction for a place like this. She had watched Muggle Movies before and she didn't want to reference them in front of a respected woman like this. Wait, was she respected? Well, Nicole assumed she was. Anyway... "Oh, please, may I have a reading of the future!" At least she remembered her manners, no matter how late it was. |
Quote:
The Hag never expected for someone to be this dim-witted at all. Her yellow eyes continued to stare at the woman. "My dear, when I mean what kind of reading, it means in what way do you want me to predict your future," she said. "There's palm reading, runes reading, and tarot reading." One more idiotic response, and Madame Hildegard would be more than honored to lay a finger on the lady. |
Quote:
The question remained and she didn't want to keep the Hag waiting. Call it childish, but she was still somewhat afraid of the woman now. She knew she could throw the money on the table and leave anytime, but another part of her knew that she had to stay. Whether it be to appease her stupid friend or to prove the younger her wrong, something had to be done. "Tarot reading." It was the one that interested Nicole the most to be honest, even when she heard her dad mumble about it all being mumbo-jumbo. She kind of liked the idea that a dec of cards could predict the rest of your life. And because she was semi-spiteful and didn't like the Hag's tone of voice, she didn't even add a please. Nicole was really bad at the whole being mean thing. |
Quote:
Then she handed the deck to the girl. "Shuffle the cards, my dear. Then cut it once, and then place the cards of my desk." Go on. |
Marcus spotted the little cart, and recognized it immediately. It was Madame Hildegard's cart, one of his favorites as a boy (of course, his father never allowed him near the cart unless he was present durning their summer holidays. It all stopped after Cara was born. The twenty-two year old remembered the first day he got a rune set, and it was from that very cart. He bowed his head at the Madame, "Madame, I wish to purchase 'the Witches Tarot set'" he was amazed by the lady, despite of her green skin, and old age, she held a sense of wisdom that many nowadays didn't hold at all. He knew it would be only 3 galleons but gave her ten anyways, in a small, silken black pouch. |
Quote:
"Here you go, dear," the hag handed it to him. "3 galleons." She took the black pouch from the young man and poured its contents onto her table. That was not three galleons, but ten. Someone did not know how to count, apparently. |
Mackenna Bubber in Knockturn Alley - Polyvore Oh, the Gyspy cart! With a quick flash of impulse behind her brown eyes, Mackenna decided that this was where she was making her first stop today. Mostly because her father never let her within five feet of the cart unless he was present and watching her extremely closely. Something about an old wives tale that the Hag ate children. Whatever, the black haired girl wasn't going to be scared. That was for children. And she was nineteen, AKA not a child anymore. Tucking her jeans further into the leather boots that didn't match, the tan girl smiled and walked forward and right to the woman's cart. She might only be medium sized and not very intimidating, but Mackenna was normally feisty and generally unafraid. Pursing her pink lips together, she smiled at the cart and waited patiently, or at least as patiently as she could. Hopefully the Hag could forgive a little foot tapping. Maybe if it was to a rhythm? Remembering her favorite song as a child, she tapped her foot slightly to that song, not trying to be rude, but needing some tune to tap. |
Dmitry normally wouldn't be walking around Knockturn Alley, although his education at Durmstrang meant he had less against Dark Wizards and Witches than some, but he'd heard that the robe shop down here was the best. He was just about to enter Twilfit and Tattings when the cart caught his attention. It reminded him of the Roma he'd visited once or twice as a child and his curiosity led him towards it. Dmitry gave all the products a cursory glance, lingering longer on the rune stone sets, perhaps he'd buy them for Aleksandr. His cousin always had been fascinated by them and would surely welcome another set. What he really wanted though was a reading. "How much is a palm or taro reading, madame?" Dmitry asked, after scanning the board of prices and not seeing them mentioned. |
Alex had heard many tales of the Starry Prophesier despite just moving from Spain sp he trudged through the Knckturn Alley. He held his haead up and walked in his suit without a wrinkle on it. He had just came from meeting the gorgeous Jasmine at the cafe and he was starting his new job at the ministry in a few days, after he got settled in at his new place. Alexalanso glanced at the menu and stroked his stubble. He glanced around before glancing at the menu again. |

Just as she stepped from her little wagon she saw a man approach. He didn't have the look of the alley but a customer was a customer. "The palm will cost you 9 galleons but the Tarot will cost you 12." They might have been worth more but she was a generous Hag in her old age, or so she would tell everyone. "Which will you be having, Dear?" Quote:
"What can I do for you?" |

Now Dmitry could only hope that whatever the reading showed would be good news. He'd already asked though and it would be quite rude to turn around and change his mind now that he'd given an answer just because he decided to get a little worried about whether or not he actually wanted to know part of his future. Dmitry was sure it would be fine though. He'd get his reading, buy the runes for Aleksandr afterwards and then go to the robe shop. |

The old hag produced the deck and held it toward the young man. "I'll need you to shuffle this deck, then cut it in half, thinking about the question you'd like to ask while you do. You must think very hard." And she expected he would put his money on the table. It was common courtesy when dealing with a business transaction. |

A black cat entered the store, her eyes scanning for the right assortment of Divination items. Within seconds, the cat has turned back to its witch form. Helena was now dressed in a knee-length black dress. She desired The Witches Tarot Kit, telekinetic enhancer and a Brass dowsing rod set. Helena waited for the shopkeeper to serve her, knowing full well that she might be busy doing readings. |
