Since 1536 the Owl Post Office has been serving the greater London area, by helping you deliver what you need to be delivered. Whether it’s a letter or a package, our owls can do the job. We have five owls who can provide a variety of delivery services. As you head through the foyer inside the Owl Post Office you will notice the newly renovated shop. All new furniture has replaced the old and very dated.

Off to the left and the right of the entrance is a bright and long row writing desks. Chairs are lined up in various spaces to seat down and relax. In the back corners on either the left or right are post office boxes, available for purchase. Ask the staff on duty for more information. Straight ahead from the foyer is rather large open space greets those entering the Owl Post Office the only real landmark is a long, rectangular stone Owl Post service desk. Written across the front panel in large, curvy print are the words "Owl Post Office". Against the wall there are three boxes; your letters, when placed in there by an employee, will vanish (to the mailroom of course).

If you approach the desk and find it empty, there is a small silver bell just off to the left. Just one ring please the enchanted bell will make no discernible sound when pressed. Next to the Owl Post service desk, several large racks have been set up. Neatly stacked inside each slot are various postcards, each depicting a different area of Diagon Alley and other notable landmarks of the greater wizarding United Kingdom. Quidditch and Gobstone team postcards can be found here as well. There are many to choose from!

Text Cut: Sending an Owl Post

To use the Owl Post system across the Wizarding Word, please complete the following OOC steps:

Fill out the Owl Post questionnaire the necessary information (note that not completely filling out the survey may result in your letter/package taking longer to deliver).
Remember to include the username of the person the letter is intended for in the "To" section.

If you are sending a package and wish to use images as visuals, remember to upload to your own image hosting account. Hotlinking images will result in your owl post not being delivered.

If you have a certain date OOC that you would like your letter to be delivered by, specify that in the last question of the survey.

RPing purchasing the Owl Post's delivery service is optional but encouraged. I want to play with you! In the event that you would rather your owl sent out sans RPing (an example being the delivery an unstalkable surprise for the recipient), please specify in the last question

Hopefully these reminders would not become a daily occurrence as they were precious seconds he could be using elsewhere to help turn a profit. Celine received an appreciative smile as she set to work, which then freed him up to keep tabs on the other three who had still to prove themselves as being completely capable without his supervision.

Something that Arséne made abundantly clear the next time the boy opened his mouth to speak. Initially Zachaël was inclined to believe that he was receiving lip from the teenager, but the tone was one of complete childlike naivety and a vacant look in the eyes that told a different tale. Never had he imagined that he would have to handhold someone on the basic task that was window washing.

And no, Jina. There would be no cleaning by magic in his establishment. All the light from the spells tended to startle the owls and he found that working with his hands was far more rewarding than a limp wrist wave of the wand.

"Yes." His tone was even and expression entirely dead panned as he looked at the French boy. "And just so we're clear. You fill the bucket with water, add a cap full of the cleaning solution to it, and THEN the rag goes into the bucket to absorb some of the liquid and THEN goes to the window." Actually...come to think of it... "Jina..will you supervise him to make sure he is doing it correctly. There are additional rags here behind the counter."

Not at all how he had wanted to use her time as his personal assistant on the day but...surely between the pair of them they could sort out how to wash windows.

"Mackenzie, once you finish sorting the stamp situation I'll need you to check the coffee and tea station. If it's low on supplies I'll have to send you shopping. Important client coming in later for some custom stationary and invitations. Very high society."

Privilege had been a thing for Arséne Trepanier ever since he had descended into this world, okay? Something he didn't flaunt, but the sixteen year old couldn't mask either. Arséne didn't know how to be self aware like that.

He had definitely asked the question with pure curiosity and was completely OBLIVIOUS to everyone's reaction. What a wonderful boss they had though, explaining in full detail how and where went what.

Nodding, and then channeling the misery from Mackenzie's face - he poured the cleaning solution a little more than a cap full into the bucket - and crouched low to dip his rag into the bucket. Assuming this was when the cruelty of the world hit entirely, he sighed with exaggeration and got up to use his lanky arms to wipe the window. The water dripped everywhere, the FOAM from the cleaning solution overflowed - but he was DEFINITELY cleaning. How messy it was - was besides the point.

Wiggling his butt, and standing on his toes - he scrubbed the glass, "am I doing it right, Jinaaa?"

Hi, Evan Eastwood here.

She was not a member of the team in any way shape or form but two of her favorite people were and that was more than reason enough for the graduate to saunter in.

Peeking in as she pulled the door open, Evan grinned. "You guys know where I can find an owl?" wasn't she funny? she thought so. Evan swung back her black curtain of hair, peeking from one former classmate to the next. Jina and Arséne got a friendly little wave, Celine a proper smirk- and Kenzie? Kenzie got a bright, dopey grin that Evan couldn't hide to save her life. "Hey, do I get tea and coffee too?" She was looking from Kenzie to the big boss man himself.

He was hot? he was hot. H. O. T. The kind of hot that melted brains. Did Kodee know how hot Zachaël was? Kenzie had better hope he never found out, for her job's sake. Evan leaned an elbow against the counter, getting nice and comfortable.

She was only half-listening as Lufkin gave Arséne detailed instructions on how to wash the windows. Mostly, she was just waiting for him to finish, then talk to her about her task. She did not expect said task to be supervising the boy in his window washing. Surely he could manage it on his own without supervision ... actually no, she took that back. "You're making it worse." She hissed as she took out another rag from behind the counter and hurried over to the windows next to Arséne. She used the rag to wipe the floor that was made messier. "Do it carefully so that the water doesn't drip everywhere. And don't sigh! Please." She added hastily.

Jina smiled and nodded at Evan when she entered the shop. She did not know the older girl very well, but it was a pity that she had to see her like this, crouching and cleaning the floor. She wished she were already a graduate like her and did not have to worry about going back to school and studying for NEWT exams.

Pity Arséne had questioned how to wash the windows because she imagined it would've been quite the show had he tried to figure it out on his own. Was this boy always going to need a babysitter in the shop? Mackenzie was not good with children. Céline seemed to have a way with creatures, so she imagined it wouldn't be far off for her to handle the strange creature that was this sixteen year old boy. Seemed like Jina was stuck with that job for now, though. Better her than Kenz.

Boss-man say what now?

The mention of a high society client coming to the shop piqued Mackenzie's interest almost immediately and suddenly she had something to look forward to. "I've got it covered, Mr. Lufkin," She said confidently, busying her hands with the stamps. "Does this client have a preference when it comes to tea? It might be a nice gesture to have that available, if so." She was just saying. It always helped to be prepared.

Evan's arrival was unexpected and though she was one of her favorite people on the planet, Mackenzie couldn't help but be a little apprehensive about this drop-in. After what happened with Kodee during her internship at the Ministry, the brunette could not handle any more surprises in places of business. Offering a tentative smile, she continued sorting the stamps and avoided thinking about the way her friend was checking out her boss. Yes, she'd noticed he was attractive. She had eyes, after all. "Evan, hey. I believe that is for customers of the shop. You here to send a letter?" She was going to play along, yes? Evan was smart. "Or are you in the market for some stamps? I can help you out with that." See how helpful she was being, Mr. L?

With the Arséne situation...mostly handled at the moment, Zachaël attempted to turn his attention ELSEWHERE and not dwell too much on how that boy was going to be the cause of his first unsightly grey hairs. He would almost rather shave his head than have any of those on his head.

Almost.

Thankfully before he could tell the boy that his methods were entirely counterproductive to the word CLEAN, Jina stepped in and handled the situation with grace and maturity. Ah, bless this young witch. Her and Celine may be the saving graces to his luscious locks yet.

Know who did not find the humor funny? This man, and he shot a cursory sort of exhausted glance towards the newest youth to step into the Owl Post. Perhaps if the French import were not making a mess of his floors he would have taken it a bit more in stride, but as it were...Zachaël was colored a dreary beige of unamusement. This look was oftentimes mistaken as a smolder, but he could assure anyone that that was not the case now. Especially since it was all to clear she had not stepped into his establishment with the intention of being a paying customer. Though Mackenzie's attempts at feigning such was...almost admirable.

Almost.

Again. His floors were soaked and Arséne was causing an absolute scene.

"Afraid preferences for tea and biscuits were not up for discussion while making the appointment," he replied to her inquiry somewhat dryly. "So just ensure there is a variety available and that the sugar and cream are not lacking either. The cups themselves should be clean...though I did catch Nuria over there earlier so I am hoping she has not deposited rat and mice tails or entrails in them like she did last week. They'll obviously need a good scrubbing if this is the case."

This was, of course, said as casually as though he were describing the weather. If anything there was an almost endearing quality to his voice one might hear from a parent describing something mischievous that their child had been up to.

With Heath out to acting camp, and having dealt enough with all of her cousins at home, Claudine had made plans for a trip to Diagon Alley by herself. Besides, she had a small package she wanted to get delivered to Heath the express way. It was a Baby Yoda keychain. Claudine still didn’t get the big hype about Star Wars but it made Heath happy so she was willing to keep an open mind for his sake.

Having visited the Post Office after the upgrade, Claudine barely paid attention to the furniture and general set up. What she did busy herself with though, were the postcards. The girl found them rather pretty and interesting.

Quinn entered the post office hesitantly. Compared to some other businesses he's visited, this one was quite tame. He had come to Diagon Alley with his aunt and mother today—he was happy to see they were getting together more frequently in the past year or so, since his mom discovered he had magic. Quinn could tell that she missed her sister.

So, when the two of them decided to go to Madam Primpernelle's and told him he could look in some of the nearby shops, Quinn figured he shouldn't intrude on their bonding time. He was nervous about going into some of the other shops (What enchantments could be on those candies? Would the free stuff in the junk shop come alive? Could he get swallowed up by a plant in Noltie's?), so he decided that the Owl Post would be a fine starting place. It couldn't be that bad, right?

When he was sure that none of the owls would snatch him up, Quinn quietly strode into the room. There wasn't much to really do in here, but the furniture did look nice. He noticed the rack of postcards next to the counter and figured it couldn't hurt to look through them. He walked over to the rack and waited behind the girl that was looking through the postcards, not wanting to get in her way.

Zachaël had never particularly felt any sort of way about the summer holiday season. While he had still been working at the zoo it was a busy season and one where he found himself staying over and sleeping by or in the enclosures of the birds he was in charge of. Sometimes it was stressful for them having all those people watching and making noises at them, you see. At the Owl Post...it simply meant warmer weather and occasionally frozen mice for his owls as a treat. Squeaksicles, as he had affectionately dubbed them.

But this summer felt different. More special.

For one, he had another surprise vacation to take Dieter on. This time somewhere more tropical than his favorite stomping grounds in France.

And another, more surprising but equally as enjoyable a development, was his mate and former Hogwarts dormmate coming to the Alley as the new owner and wandmaker at Ollivanders. He would need to pop in one of these days and invite him to lunch again.

It was something for Zeke, actually, that Zachaël was working on when the two youngsters stepped into his shop. Pausing his whittling to toss his curly chocolate locks aside, the shopkeeper vanished some wood shavings away with a pass of his hand and observed the pair for a moment.

"If there is anything either of you are looking for in particular, please let me know."

Which then prompted a sharp SCREEEEEEEEEECH from a few of the owls on their perches behind him.

"I was not addressing either one of you," he chuckled, swinging his shoulders around to look back at them. "Especially you," he continued as he waved one of his weathered fingers towards a barn owl. "You have had plenty already and I've got a shipment for you later so rest up."

To be honest, Claudine wasn’t her most observant self at that moment. She was quite observed with checking out the postcards. One might wonder why, and her answer was simple: the postcards usually gave her ideas for her own sketches. Not that she copied them. It was the opposite: studying the postcards allowed her to conceive her own notion of what she’d want her sketches to be whether she drew the images from a different angle or altered just slightly the colours used.

Anyway.

The girl was slightly startled by the voice obviously belonging to the person attending to customers. And Merlin! Those owls were loud! But Claudine gazed at them fondly, rather than paying attention to the man there. It was typical Claudine Blaze behaviour - to pay attention to an animal over a human. “Oh, is he going to have to journey far?’’ the dark haired girl asked with interest, referring to the owl that had been told to rest.

Claudine’s gaze was still fixed on the owls and she definitely did not see the midget leaning around her to check out the postcards. If she had, she’d have definitely snapped at him. “How long is usually their resting time between deliveries, Mister?’’ They weren’t being overworked, were they?

That was exactly when Claudine realised the other human in such close proximity to her. “Excuse you,’’ came her comment rather waspishly. “Don’t you know the concept of personal space?”

Ah! A first timer! The post was rarely the sort of establishment parents would bring their kids unless they were on a time crunch and with no other option. Zachaël himself had no problem with kids, he was rather fond of Sophia's for that matter and always enjoyed babysitting whenever she needed and he could afford to, and it was one of the things he missed about working the zoo. The educational aspect of it all. Teaching young minds about our feathered friends and providing them with a more intimate look at the creatures surrounding us. The Owl Post still provided these special moments, though fewer and rare between. He had taken up the position because of the owls themselves anyway.

"Ah, in that case welcome," he smiled cordially while taking a quick glance towards the tea and coffee station. Perhaps he should send Mackenzie out to get some hot chocolate? Did kids these days still drink that? "If you fancy a spot of tea, you are welcome to a complimentary cup. I'll make an exception this time." Seeing as it was reserved for his stationary consultations. "Recently stocked some watercolors painted by a Diagon Alley local. Sights of the wizarding world. An exclusive to this Owl Post in case that tickles your interest."

...did kids these days like watercolor? How DID he manage to babysit for Sophia when he was utterly clueless?

His piercing blue gaze then shifted to the young lady who was likewise looking at the postcard and his lips twitched pleasantly for just a moment as she inquired about his own children. The owls, of course. "Not far but a bit of a hefty load. Silly thing is always trying to do more than any other owl. Has a very competitive streak that one. Have to keep them in check so they don't pull a wing muscle or worse."

There was a bit of a squabble between the two, which seemed just a bit unnecessary considering nothing had even been knocked over. Though the circumference of personal space for one person was often quite different to another's. The young woman's must be particularly wide around.

"Would either of you like to meet one?" Distract from the conflict. Reminded him of his Hogwarts days and the disputes in the Slytherin dormitories. Though Zachaël had been particularly recluse those days, save for with Zeke once he had formed a comfort there. "Couple are particularly social creatures who would love to show off for sport."

Once upon a time, Claudine wouldn’t have cared that she snapped at this little guy. But today? The moment the words left her mouth, she was sorry. She was briefly confused as this was not the first time she had found herself softening; it wasn’t the first time that she found her usually serious demeanour was starting to fade, only to be replaced by a more compassionate side of her. This was something she’d have to sit and think about in an attempt to get to the bottom of what had caused this drastic change.

The girl found herself shaking her head as the boy stuttered out his apologies. “It’s fine. I shouldn't have spoken to you in that tone.’’ Merlin. Please don’t tell her that he was going to cry. Claudine did not think that she would be able to handle that. Thankfully, the shopkeeper was providing welcome distractions.

Bless you, Mister.

“Oh no, thank you. I’m quite content to watch your owls.’’ Claudine chanced a quick look at the smaller human. “Would you like to take up that offer?” She herself would be grabbing a caramelatte later on. As for those watercolours? “Yes, please. I’d love to see the watercolours.’’ If Mr. Shopkeeper must know, she was interested in all things art. Not that the fact was mentioned aloud.

“Could we?” Dark eyes lit up. “Can we meet that one that’s competitive? Or is he not social?’’ Did the other two notice her use of ‘we’? Because Claudine was doing her best to try to make up for her earlier rudeness by including the little guy.

But watercolours and owls? Who could resist?

Quinn nodded at the girl's apology, still not looking up at her. He was grateful she wasn't too mad, but he was still cautious about acting like everything was normal; he didn't want to peeve her anymore than he already had.

So, when she asked him what he thought about having tea, he was slightly taken aback. Quinn looked up at her and blinked. Had she already gotten over it? "Um... no, I'm alright," he said, then turned to the shopkeep. "Thank you for offering, though."

As for the watercolours, Quinn was keen to see them. He was happy his new acquaintance was interested in them as well. "I'd like to see the watercolours as well, please. I quite like art, though I'm not much good at any of it."

We. This gesture didn't go unnoticed for Quinn. He managed a small smile at this, though the relief of no longer being in the doghouse was dampened by his nerves for meeting an owl. "Ah, well, they're not, um... they'll be fine seeing us? They won't get startled or be aggressive or... anything..?" Quinn was nervous around new animals, and owls were very new for him. He had only seen some at the zoo, but he had never been up close with one. And he knew he never wanted to be on the wrong end of their talons.

He did consider himself to have a rather mature and sophisticated palate. But no matter, Zachaël instead focused his attention on gesturing towards the stand just adjacent to the one the young lady was already standing by where she could spot the watercolors. Once she gave the stand a gentle twirl counterclockwise.

"I am not much of a painter either. My hands are more well versed in such endeavors as whittling and carving," he mused a bit while rubbing his hand along his scruffy jawline. And he would have allowed for a longer pause to permit the two to peruse the options of watercolors, but their interest in a unique one-on-one with one of his owls was too delicious to pass up.

"All of them are sociable to a degree. They would not make for very good Owl Post owls if they were not." He was an unspoken rule of sorts in the selection of owls here. "Some merely meeker than others but Waful is by far the most pleased with himself and always keen to show off. He won't be nipping at your fingers as long as you don't try to insult him outright. Got the pride of a hippogriff." Taking a moment to tuck away his tools and some of the paperwork he had been working on before engaging with the two kids, he beckoned the pair of them over. "Gather around and I'll call him over."

Which was what he did in the next breath with a whistle. But not just a whistle, there was a unique rhythm to it. He had assigned each of the owls one.

Quinn could barely whistle a single standing note, let alone a rhythm. "How did you learn that?"

Usually, Claudine was one to be annoyed for a bit after something which she did not like occurred. However, this wasn’t the case and the young boy need not worry. Why wasn’t this the case? Because… owls. Hello, these feathery creatures were mighty interesting. Not to mention cute; sort of little feather dusters. Still, Claudine was momentarily distracted from them. “You like art?’’ Maybe she could find out more about this fact later, after she had had her heart’s content with the owls. She eyed him with more interest than before, as well as the shopkeep. “Do you have any whittled pieces we can see?” In this girl’s opinion, whittling was just as great as sketching.

Waful’s description sent her into soft chuckles. The mannerisms and the pride of Hippogriffs were all too well known to her as a considerable amount of her free time at Hogwarts was dedicated to caring for the ones housed at the School. Eagerly, Claudine moved closer, thinking that the whistle was an unusual one. “That must have taken a lot of practice,’’ she added in awe to the young boy’s question.

Straightening at the whistle, Waful puffed his breast feathers and made sure every owl around him or looking at him knew that he had heard the call and that yes he was that important. Hooting loudly as the snowy owl took flight, he swooped in just above the shopkeepers shoulder to give the entire room a proper circumnavigation and swooped in low and close to each child with a delighted screech before landing ceremoniously on the front desk. With another hoot hoot, because did they all see he had arrived and with flare??, the owl eagerly nipped at the man's fingers.

Quinn nodded at the girl's question. "Oh, yeah, I like looking at it, but I don't know that I could ever do it myself." His mother told him that he had an "eye for detail". He wasn't sure exactly what she meant by that, but it sounded like a good thing.

When Waful came flying into the room, Quinn watched in awe. He could see what the postman was talking about when he said this owl had pride—it held itself confidently, and was very obviously showing off on the way in. Quinn observed him as he landed on the counter. He was definitely a beautiful bird, so the confidence didn't go unwarranted. He had never been this close with an owl before, so he was slightly intimidated. "He's... he's very pretty... and we can touch him..?"

Zachaël could hear the flutter of wings before Waful had even left his perch. Subtilty was not a trait that the snowy owl particularly excelled in and the curly haired man adored him all the more for it. Though he was briefly distracted by the young girl's inquiry about his pieces and, unfortunately, before he had the chance to respond that every wax seal stamp and custom woodwork she saw from where she stood was his own handiwork...Waful was make a proper spectacle of himself.

Right on cue.

Zachaël brilliant blue eyes twinkled in fondness as he watched the owl swoop and glide all the way to a stop on the front desk. "Yes yes, very nicely done you," the man mused while patting the pockets of his trousers and blazer for the little bag of treats and offered one to the nipping owl. "Years of practice and a keen ear," he replied, doubling back to address the question about the whistle. "I was never cut out for the Frog Choir. My ear better trained for other purposes." And mimicking bird chirps and whistles had been a particular pastime of his. "I believe you can. Gentle and slow now. Use the back of one finger and gently stroke downwards on his breast here...just like this." Which meant, of course, he would demonstrate. "Always downwards. Stroke upwards and you'll be agitating his feathers and he won't take too kindly to that." He nodded his head to the boy to go on. "You're welcome to as well after he has had a turn. One at a time so as not to over stimulate."

Quinn nodded and approached Waful carefully, still slightly unsure of touching him. He did as the man demonstrated, taking a finger and stroking downwards. The owl's feathers felt nice to the touch, and Quinn smiled as he stroked them. "He's very pretty. And his feathers are nice and soft." Quinn stepped back when he figured it was time. "Thank you, Waful. You're a very nice owl."

Claudine observed Waful carefully. Obviously he was well trained to respond to the whistle, and she thought that he seemed to be checking to make sure the other owls’ attention were on him. The girl watched in delight as the owl did a bit of theatrics of sorts but the highlight was when Waful flew close to her. The light breeze from his feathers could be felt by her. “Oh, that was a perfect landing,’’ Claudine exclaimed in delight.

That little guy there had indeed asked an important question. Yes. Could they touch Waful? “Well, your talents certainly didn’t go to waste,’’ Claudine observed, directing that to the shopkeep. This time around, her voice was lowered so as to not startle the proud bird.

Excited as she was to have a turn, Claudine knew she’d have to be patient. Patient she was, watching the boy interact with the owl. She thought he handled the said interaction well. Then it was her turn. Yay. Downward strokes. That could be managed. The dark haired girl used the back of her right index finger and followed the directions of the shopkeep.

“Hi there, Waful. You’re rather handsome.”

If by 'very nice' the boy meant the best, then absolutely the boy was correct. Waful even puffed his chest out a bit and stretched his wings out wide to either side for him to admire. The girl received a series of pleased hoots for her praises and gentle touch. Though as much as Waful enjoyed well deserved attention, the snowy owl would much rather be out making a delivery and being useful. Which was why his head spun nearly all the way around to look at the shopkeep with another eager series of hoots.

Zachaël could just tell that Waful was basking in the moment and the curly haired man was rather proud of the two youths for the gentle touch despite their apparent eagerness. It could be a mixed bag with kids sometimes. Naturally he also caught on to the snowy owl's own impatience and quickly gave the counter a bit of a look around. There had been a stack of letters that needed to go out by tomorrow that he may as well reward Waful with. Finding them tucked on the shelf just to his right, he held out one of the stacks wrapped tightly with twine. "These go to Sophia," he instructed Waful with a somewhat serious smile. "So be polite now and say your goodbyes to these two and be on your way."

The two children who he had not caught the names of. Oh well.

"And as for you two," he turned to look back at them. He could only assume they were Hogwarts kids judging by their ages. "You're welcome to linger around here a bit more. Would help the business a bit if you did purchase a postcard or two though."

He was still a bit in the hole from the time the Azkaban escapees had ransacked his business. Still making up for those lost funds here and there.
