The Melo-Dreamer family bloomed originally from Dash Dreamer encountering Rafael Melo at the Leaky Cauldron in November 2109. In July 2111, the loving couple moved into a flat together in Diagon Alley, where their love blossomed into marriage and finally adopting their first son, Diego in 2113. Finally, in the Summer of 2115, the three have packed up and moved into a home where their growing family and friends can cherish and make new memories together. Welcome home. Be sure to leave your shoes by the door when you enter inside.

There had been no way that Rafa would have had any intention of putting up the tree up while Diego had been away at school. Since Dash agreed, he had waited patiently-impatiently until the day arrived when they brought their son back home. During the course of his wait, Rafa had elicited the husband’s help in decorating the rest of their home with colourful tinsel, streamers and festive ornaments.

At present, however? His heart was full watching the tree stake shape and more importantly, watching Diego have a grand time being hard at work. “It’s looking excellent so far, Di.” Rafa patted Diego on the head and grinned in Dash’s direction. “Your daddy and I can continue anytime you think you need to take a break.” Rafa fished a bright red streamer out of one of the boxes that held the decorations before casually beginning to wrap it around Diego’s shoulder. “There’s also the cake that Viano’s parents brought over that you should absolutely dig into before he eats it all.” At this point, a playful smirk was tossed at Dash. “Okay, it looks as though this house isn’t the only festive thing here. He looks even more adorable, doesn’t he, babe?”

Diego was so happy to be back home. He missed his papa and daddy so much, especially when his birthday happened during the school year, a week before he could go home for the holidays. He was now twelve years old, yet he didn't feel a day over nine.

"Thanks, Papa!" Diego beamed up Papa Rafa. Take a break? No way! "Not until I get to put the star on though!" He insisted before he got himself a new scarf, the material tickled him into laughing. But, Vi's parents had it covered as he got home to see the most delicious-looking cake!

"Okay, Papa. But first, let me put the star on please." Making grabby hands before he went to climb up on Papa's shoulders.

"Absolutely adorable." Dash said, with the usual twinkle in his eyes as he could feel the tears threatening to pour. Everything was just so perfect, the three of them home together. Chuckling, "There's no rush, Diego. You have plenty of time before Papa and I steal your cake." Moving over to tickle Diego before helping him get onto Rafa's shoulders.

"Okay, hang on tight.. that's it. Now, don't let our baby fall, Rafie." Dash leaned to give Rafa a quick peck on his cheek before passing the star. "All set?" Dash asked, before realizing this was definitely a camera moment, which he just so happen to have by the table. Picking it up before getting ready to snap pictures.

Diego was twelve? Nah, Rafael refused to believe that his baby was growing up and would be a teenager next year. A TEENAGER!!! The thought filled him with dread. Would Di be one of those angsty, dramatic teens who hated their parents? Merlin, he hoped not! He would die if that happened. The man was offered some reassurance that this just may not be the case as his gaze settled on that adorable beam. No, there was no chance of sweet Diego turning into what Rafa feared.

The owlkeeper caught that look on Dash’s face and knew the hubby was finding this moment particularly cute and heartwarming because of the misty gaze. “The most adorable,’’ he agreed. “We won’t steal all, I promise.” Rafa threw a small smirk at Dash as he lowered himself to the ground so Diego could hop onto his shoulders. If Di wanted to put the star on the tree, then he would; Dash and Rafa would help until he grew tall enough to do it himself. Once Di had climbed on, Rafa hung onto his legs for Di's security then carefully stood up. He didn’t find Diego heavy at all even though the growing little guy had a healthy appetite, especially when it came to macaroni & cheese and cake.

Rafa chuckled. “I won’t. Our baby is in safe hands.’’ On the slim chance that he did fall, Dash would catch him. While Rafa couldn’t return the kiss just then, there would be plenty of time for him to soon. Dash had better brace himself for that! With the star handed over, he moved closer to the tree so that Diego could easily reach the top.

Diego felt soo good to be back home again. The rest of the summer was his oyster as they had big plans ahead, but for now he wanted to take a nice nap after the long journey home from Hogwarts. So after his trunk was brought in he quickly changed and hopped into... well, more like flopped onto his bed, hugging Baba, his stuffed raccoon.

Sleepy... sleepy..

Rafa had carried Diego’s trunk to his room and afterwards, had given him a moment to change. He could not contain his happiness at having his son back home, and one way he displayed this was by grabbing Dash by the waist and spinning around the living room with him. Then there was the family trip on the horizon for the three of them… Rafael thought that this just might be one of the best summers yet!

“He’s taking an awfully long time to join us, isn’t he?” he said to Dash after quite a few minutes had ticked by. “I’m going to go check on him. And I’m taking his surprise.” Grinning, he kissed his husband on the lips. “Tag along with me, babe?” With that, Rafael grabbed the baby raccoon plushie he had picked up recently.

Thrice he knocked on the door to Di’s room but when there was no response, he gently pushed the door open and was greeted by the most precious sight: his little human fast asleep while hugging Baba. The older Melo-Dreamer would have melted if it were physically possible, but he did melt inwardly. How had he and Dash managed to adopt the most adorable son ever?!

He tiptoed towards Diego’s bed, or as best as he could without making much noise given his muscular frame. Carefully, and doing his best not to wake Di, Rafa took up space on one side of the bed. He placed the baby raccoon next to Baba then slipped an arm around Di’s middle.

Cuddle fest, anyone?

Dash laughed as he was being spun and twirled by his husband Rafael. This trip really invigorated them and he loved this euphoric feeling. It was just like their first time on the dance floor as their dance turned to a slow close one. He expected them to be interrupted... any moment now.

"Poor kiddo must be tired." Dash commented. So much had happened, only pleasant things, he thought before returning the quick kiss. "Right behind you." Following after Rafa, he too was greeted by the most adorable sight of their son sleeping.

Dash leaned against the dormframe to admire the sight as Rafa laid next to their son. The idea instantly flashed in his head before he dashed for the camera in their bag by the door. Within a few seconds he approached the doorframe again, making sure to turn off the flash before snapping some pictures. Then he too tiptoed quietly to the other side of Diego and took a quick selfie with the three. #Naptime.

The family will love this.

Rafa loved listening to Dash’s laughter with all his heart. It reminded him that he was still on track with one of his goals: keeping his husband happy. His life had become so much better with Dash in it, Diego too. Speaking of their little boy… Dash had been absolutely right. Clearly Di was quite tired. That was quite okay and understandable. Not to mention Rafa was more than content to lay here beside him. It was like therapy.

Can you tell the Owlkeeper loved having his son back? Too bad, Hogwarts, you’ll have to wait for a couple of months!

Sensing movement at the door, Rafa lifted his head slightly to see Dash rushing off. Assuming the husband had forgotten to do something important, Rafael closed his eyes once more. He was quite oblivious to Dash snapping pictures. However, he was not, when the other man joined him and Di. Smiling to himself, he reached his hand that was around Di for Dash’s.

Diego was all smiles while he held Declan. He couldn't believe that he went from only child to big brother. Dario was supposedly taking a nap, well deserved, since they had a short time left before they go to Hogwarts together.

Diego wanted it to be special, so he walked outside pointing at the nearest tree. "See that tree? That's where me and Daddy hid until Papa found us. Gave him quite a scare but he took the joke well." Then at the plants "And look, our garden's thriving. Do you want to have a closer look?" He looked into his little brother's eyes awaiting their move.

Declan might be only almost-three-years-old but he knew that his brother would be leaving soon. And he was taking Dario with him. Diego leaving always made him sad and he easily dissolved into tears each time, to be comforted by his daddy and papa. It was why whenever he was blessed with time with him, Dec was at his happiest.

Presently, he was clinging to Di’s shoulders as he was held. He angled his growing body to better look in the direction being pointed to. Dec giggled and playfully booped Diego on his nose. “Papa sad?” he asked with curiosity if their Papa felt sad too when he couldn't find daddy and Di. He studied his brother’s face almost studiously, as if weighing words he wanted to say. Instead, he glanced in the plants’ direction. “Garden! Plants! Let’s go, Di!’’

Maybe they would see a squirrel!

Diego chuckled softly at Declan’s excitement, brushing a strand of hair from his little brother’s forehead. "Alright, let’s go check it out," he said, adjusting Dec on his hip as he carefully stepped toward the garden.

Giving Declan the chance to maybe point and squeal at the sight of the bright colourful leaves and budding flower. They could feel the warm glow of the sun bathe them both. "See that little sprout there?" Diego whispered, crouching to bring his face closer to the soil. "That one’s a sunflower. You think it’ll grow taller than you?"

Diego paused for a moment, letting the quiet hum of the garden settle around them. Each plant seemed to carry memories. Papa planting seeds last spring, Daddy carefully pruning the bushes, afternoons spent laughing as they tended to it together, and Uncle TJ chasing Papa Rafa, asking for a hug while Daddy laughed. These were the moments he would treasure most once he was at Hogwarts, away from home, from the garden, from his family. Yet right now, he could simply be here, showing his little brother the world in tiny, magical slices, letting the garden tell its own quiet story of love, care, and home.

"So what else do you want to see, Declan?" He asked. "Do you want to go for an owl ride?"

Dec giggled again, this time when Diego moved aside a particularly pesky strand of hair that he hadn’t realised that had been bothering him. And when he was adjusted, he in turn moved his hands to more comfortable positions. The important fact: Declan continued clinging to the human he adored so much.

The only time that he removed those hands was to clap half a dozen times when he laid eyes on the tiny shoot. “Touch?” he asked, one fist now clinging to Di’s shirt, the other extending towards the sunflower. And yes, there was some squealing. Little Declan was passionate about plants and squirrels. “Yes. 'Cos Declan small.” He paused in thought. “Flower not grow tall than Di.” In his mind, his big brother was very tall.

While Diego was lost in memories, Declan managed to gently give the sunflower plant a little pet, much like one did with owls. He tilted his head, scrutinising it. There was just something fascinating about all plants. A thought popped into his head. “Am I plant? Little then big?” Surely he would grow as big and strong as Papa and Daddy?

“Owl ride! Then we see squirrels!” Hopefully.

Declan straightened up, using his free hand to pat Di’s face. It was his way of saying ‘thank you’ to Di for spending time with him.

Diego nodded when Declan asked to touch the flower, adjusting him on his hip once more so they could lean closer. Watching with quiet amusement as Declan petted the sunflower sprout as if it were a baby owl and not a plant barely tall enough to peek through the soil. "Gentle… just like that. Perfect."

The question that followed, "Are you a plant?" he repeated thoughtfully. "Well… we're a lot like to plants. Plants start small, then they grow big and strong with lots of love and care. And you-" he tapped Declan’s chest gently with a fingertip, "-I can see will grow big and strong, as well as in your heart."

Diego smiled, registering Declan's pats of affection. He pressed his lips softly against his forehead, "Alright, Owl ride first, squirrels second, sí?" Giving him a moment before both hands were holding Diego, "Okay, arms out." Lifting him up high, "Annd here we gooo. Don't forget to flap those wings of yours!" Holding him above his head, Diego began spinning around before they zoomed around the garden.

Even at his tender age, Declan knew that the flower was delicate; he knew that all plants were. It also helped that Diego reminded him. Guidance from the older Melo-Dreamer was always welcome. Which was why he gently booped one of the petals with an index finger. Even that slight touch helped to add to the joys of his day. “Perfect!” he echoed, straightening up to cling to Di with both hands once again.

His gaze fixed on Di with great interest and curiosity. So.. in a way he was a plant! Dec’s facial expression changed to one of happiness as he processed the words of wisdom. It all made sense, because yes, he would grow up to be big and strong! Diego was so smart with the way he linked plants to him! Dec began giggling as his chest was tapped. “Big, strong like papa and daddy!” he said with great realisation and wonder.

“Declan loves Diego.” It was the forehead kiss that fuelled the words, but he meant them with all his heart. “Siii, seee, Si!” The younger boy giggled once more and eagerly stuck his hands out as instructed. “Hooo! Hooo!” Declan called out loudly, flapping his arms in a gentle manner of an owl riding thermal in the sky.

This was SO much fun!
