Anytime Lily mentioned any sort of TRAVEL location, Van knew what she was REALLY thinking. Honeymoon.
Yeah he knew.
But he simply wasn't willing to leave the ministry unattended until certain things were sorted out. Soon. Christmas, perhaps. a whole six months after their wedding.
"If you need to sit down, Lil, I'm sure I can keep you company." He grunned at her. Yes he needed to sit. Yes he was too proud to admit it.
Van's attention was caught as another woman addressed him and while Mrs. Kaufman chatted to others he smiled at Inez Grey. "Of course. The new Transportation Department Head." Van was careful to speak so that his voice carried so Recard would hear. "Its about time we had someone with talent leading that department. The employees are top notch, but they've been without true leadership unfortunately. I've heard much about you, Ma'am." He gave her hand a polite shake.
"This is my wife, Lilyan Bole." Of course he had to introduce her. Everyone should know Lily. It was like he was doing the world a favour.
"Oh leave the poor girl be." Van winked at Abigail almost playfully. Her dress was lovely... and better than some he'd seen already. She was a Bott, was she not? Not that Evander read... gossip magazines or anything. He just KNEW things of that nature. It was his job to be aware of things. Besides. She was a civilian.
HOWEVER.... Legend? Was just scruffy.
"Lysander Jedidiah Hayden Shiloh Merric Chosen." Yeah thats right. "Tuck that shirt in and straighten that tie. You will NOT make a fool of MLE by looking like a scruff."
WELL. A married woman was entitled to a honeymoon, was she not? Evander Bole was no longer married to his JOB, he was married to HER. Though, he knew she wouldn't push him. He was SUPER LUCKY, you know. She hoped he never forgot that.
Lily patted his arm. He DID need to go sit soon, and she was fully intending on forcing him if he didn't do it himself. "You will be needing to rest soon, Healer's orders." THAT was the answer to his offer to keep her company. It was the WORD of a concerned wifey and Healer.
"Miss Bott." She smiled at the girl, remembering her from Hogwarts, and in general. "Mister Chosen." Though HER greeting of the boy was much nicer and less like a drill sergeant. "How are you both this evening?" The boy certainly did have a long name, though. Wow.

It was a good quality, to be well informed of others when you yourself were so important to the Ministry's productivity. Inez was definately impressed with Evander Bole.
She pretended to blush as he went on about her previous work. "Oh now, don't act all impressed. My work with Porkeys and brooms at the German Ministry compares not to the taking down of a Cult here. You are quite the superstar I've heard, Mr. Bole." Inez raised her Champagne glass to the man and turned towards the woman at his side, his wife.
"Oh so sorry Lily, it's a pleasure to meet you too. You are very lucky you know." she said indicating her husband. Oh what it would be like to have actually gotten married to a man who was an upstanding citizen and cared about her. "So do you work here in the Ministry as well?" she asked curiously, taking a sip from her flute.
Oh? Another person to be introduced to. Lily had figured that was what tonight would mostly be, meeting people. Lots and lots of people. This whole thing was almost like being back at the party after the wedding, though she'd known EVERYONE there, and she obviously didn't know everyone HERE.
Lily smiled, "Lovely to meet you, Inez." Hmmm. This woman had champagne too. Lily seriously needed to excuse herself and go find some of that, but she was sort of worried that if she stepped away, Van would fall over. Hehe. "Thank you, I quite agree." Hehe.
Even though she still hadn't gotten her honeymoon.
"No, I don't. I'm a Healer, I used to work at Hogwarts, but now I'm a private midwife." Lily looooved it too, there was nothing better than helping to bring a new life into the world.

As her boyfriend spoke, she turned to Lily, smiling at her sort of friend. "You're dress is really pretty Lily." Like really pretty. It suited her a lot.
Ahh. Legend was here too. With some pretty girl. "Good evening Legend." She nodded with a smile. She had heard Evander calling him by his full name, so she had decided against using it too. For now at least. "Whos your friend?" She asked Legend, nodding towards the girl. Maybe she should introduce herself? But she was sure that Legend could do that. The girl was obviously his date after all.

HA. Kids these days. Then Van showed up as back-up for the old broad and Wes snorted into his champagne.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Bole," he greeted his boss first with a wink. "Cheers to this lovely ball, huh? We have much to celebrate." Peacetime was a good time to Wes.
He turned toward the young things and the old lady and dipped his head respectfully to the girl who had curtsied. "Pleasure to meet you too, Miss.....?" Whoever she was. "And the same to you, madame." He nodded at the representative from America and then winked at Legend.
"Godric Gryffindor did make tucking in shirts cool, but he also hated tuxedos. Little known fact about the famous wizard. Read it on a Chocolate Frog card once." Cough Isobel cough.
Lily's attention was caught once again by familiar voices, "Wesley." She smiled at the man, "You're looking well, and so fancy." Haha. She had a feeling he wasn't really digging his tux.
"Thank you Isobel." Lily did enjoy getting compliments just as much as the next woman did. "You're looking lovely as well." EVERYONE was so shiny and dressed up.

The woman's grasp on her husband really was unecisarry, Inez had no intentions of flirting with Evander Bole, one of her collegues now. She had been hurt in the past and a realtionship was the last thing on her mind. The few seconds she had been thinking of this she remembered with a quick glance toward the ground the Mr. Bole had been injuryed. Oh.
A lucky woman, yes.
"Oh a Healer, very nice. Healing at Hogwarts must have been very interesting. I assume there were some pretty odd things to come into your wards?" he chuckled soflty. Children were always getting hurt but when you place a bunch of magical children together those odds were tripled. Now she was a mid-wife. "Oh that's so nice. I actually would have chosen a mid-wife over hospital birth if I had had a child on my own. I adopted my son, Nathan though." she nodded, a smile breaking on her pale face at the mention of her little angel.
Blake Madden walked into the Ball feeling like a pretty Christmas present tucked lovingly under the tree. Though her heels were a bit on the tad high side. She was used to flats if the truth was going to be told. She was in a festive mood nonetheless and she was ready to party. "Well time to see what this dress can do." she said with a smile on her face.

"Perhaps we should get out of his hair then. A few less people for him to attend to." he suggested, looking around for safe areas to be in. Safe, meaning not so many people he had to talk to. Then again, whatever Layla wanted to do was fine by him.
There was dancing from the looks of it. Dancing didn't involve talking with others and he could have the excuse of staring at Layla. There was food too. Food was always a brilliant choice.
Layla nodded and gave Bryce a grateful smile. Always so understanding, the perfect date of course. "yeah maybe we should." She took one more quick glance then moved away with Bryce. They could go have a dance or something, after all she didn't fancy running into her sister and that was one place her sister was unlikely to be.
She could be such a stiff shirt at times it was crazy."Did I thank you for accompanying me yet?" She asked as they walked to the dance floor. It's not like he couldn't have turned her down or anything but here he was at this stuffy ministry ball with her. She kissed his cheek. "Thank you"

Legend slowly pulled off the glasses so he could look straight at the women. "My mother died when I was a baby." He said with a big grin. "And between you and me,-" He leaned in and lowered his voice. "-if she had taught me a lesson about how important it was to tuck in my shirt, I'd be more considered over the fact that like...a zombie was speaking to me." True story, for real.
He looked at Neptune then to the lady. He thought she looked fine- no beautiful. He simply shook his head. The woman was wrong with what ever she was implying. "She looks lovely." He said stiffly.
Legend slipped the glasses back on. "I'll take what you said into consideration though." Not likely. "Thank you Miss..." Again, who were you?
"Gordic Gryffindor was probably the one who made tucking in shirts cool, and it was probably frowned upon then. And so I have to be a Gryffindor and make it uncool." He grinned. There you go Ravenclaw, some logic...maybe.
Legend's grin grew and he brought his finger to his lips. He didn't know the woman but she looked important! She could get him fired if she knew too much.
Legend shot a smug look at the unknown lady as Evander joined them. Evander was cool so he KNEW stuff. See? Neptune was alright, not that he even believed she needed defending.
.....
His full name...
"Uh." Legend just stared at his boss, in complete shock. "Uh...." He continued to stare, unblinking and not breathing, for a bit longer until finally his senses kicked in. "Urm-yes sir, sorry sir." He averted his gaze as he quickly rushed to tuck in his shirt. Good? Tie too? He hesitated before tightening the pink fabric around his neck.
Fine Evander. He'd listen to you.
But he was keeping the sunglasses.
Oh. AW. Neptune squeezed Legend's hand. MEAN OLD WOMAN bringing up his mother. What an old toad she was! Her free hand went to helping Legend with his shirt and tie. Pat-pat-pat, tug-tuck-straighten.
Why were they being picked on? SO unfair. Is this how ALL the fabulous guests were treated? Or just special attention to King Chosen and Queen Bott? Hmphs.
"Off with all their heads," Neptune whispered to Legend.
The bullying was probably because Neptune was lovely and Legend was awesome. Jealousy is SO unbecoming, Wizarding World!

She did frown a bit when the young man mentioned losing his parents. "Oh my kneazles, I am terribly sorry to hear about your mother," she said honestly, her hand covering her heart. Still no excuse for having his shirt tucked out and wearing those pointless sunglasses indoors.
"Abigail Kaufman, head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation at the American Ministry and the MC for this prestigious event."
And then Mr. Bole gently reminded her that while she was old enough to be their grandmothers, she was not and ought to relax and drink another glass of champagne. Well, alright, he did not say so outright, but his playful smile and turn of tongue had given her the excuse to do so. If only she could find that waiter...did she need to call him over again?

Thankfully, he seemed to listen to Mr. Bole, so all seemed well.
Neptune wasn't at all violent. She entirely denounced punching and all other barbarism (unless it was called for and then she called The Champion to handle it). But if she had had a rolled up newspaper, she'd have consider whopping Mrs. Kaufman for bringing up Legend's mother again. Rolled paper to her FACE. Hush, hush, hush! Rude! This was NOT appropriate BALL CONVERSATION TOPICS!
"Thank you," Neptune allowed, again curtsying with an exaggerated respect. "Your dress is very pretty, too." Read: Pick on someone your own age!
"Oh I disagree entirely, if you'll allow. I find... Legend's...aura entirely appealing. I wouldn't show up to a Ball on the arm of just any ole straggler" Pause. "Or carpetbag. We're very fashionable."
Even though Neptune HAD just been berating him for the shirt tail. TOLD YOU SO, LEGEND CHOSEN.

Another Ministry celebration... The last one of these Mason attended, it was the most wonderful disaster of his life. And he was hoping that this one would be just as good. He had big plans for this night. Biiiig plans. But luckily, he was able to keep his cool. For now.
Walking into the entrance hall with Medea's hand in his, a faint smile was on Mason's face. He actually never really was one for parties until he met Medea. "You ready for this?" He asked her, squeezing her hand with a smile.
Looking around, Mason saw his old boss, Armen Recard. And he also saw that he was a waiter. Which was kind of really funny. He nodded at the man and tried not to smile too much. Because for once in his new job, he wasn't the one doing all the work.

Helena, in all honesty, was quite surprised when she'd received her invitation to this ball. It seemed considerably more extravagant than the party Borr'd planned a few short years ago. Were these parties really necessary, though? If it weren't for Ryan, and the fact that she herself worked up in Level 1, then the pregnant woman probably wouldn't have bothered attending.
Still. She might as well try to enjoy the evening without worrying about everything too much. With one hand on her baby bump, the blonde smiled at the few people she passed whom she actually knew. This would probably be the last time she'd see them all, after all...

Upon walking in the entrance hall after his pregnant -girlfriend- Ryan seemed to be quite in a good mood as his usual cunning smirk was glued on his face. He observed the people around a bit yet did not bother paying much attention so since what was happening in this ministry was not among the things he found interesting anymore. Yet, of course, there was a certain reason he was present in this ball.
Stopping beside Helena, he fixed his light blue eyes into hers before smiling and offering his arm to her kindly ''My lady...''. Yes, his lady. His pregnant lady. It was hard to believe but this woman made Ryan felt like he could fall in love again everytime he saw her. ''Marvellously attactive as usual.''

It was weird being back. Very very weird. Especially because the first thing she got to do was go to this Ministry celebration. Okay, it WAS great that they had finally managed to get rid of this disturbing Borr character but still. It was weird.
Looking around the entrance hall, Alysson Zookara brushed some imaginary dust off her dress, composing her face. With a small sigh she put on a smile and glanced back up in search for a familiar face. Or any face really. Anybody who looked nice. The other people from Magical Law Enforcement would be here too, right? So now where were they?

Ah. Such an innocent question to ask. Constance had expected some resistance from his side - it only made this more entertaining for her. After all, she didn't need some suck-up employee to be leading her inside.
"Do you see me?" she asked, in the light tone of hers. "I need an escort. And your arm seems perfect. You cannot expect me to walk in alone - just ruins the whole purpose of me wearing this dress," Did he get her? Constance hoped he had some brains. She really did!
He did see her.
And she, like many of the woman in attendance, looked beautiful in her attire. But that still didn't mean he should lend her his arm for the night. "I wouldn't say that it ruins the purpose," He mused. "The purpose was to look nice for the evening, and you've overachieved. But if I started lending my arm to every woman who'd come alone, well I'd be a very busy man tonight." Not nearly as busy as Armen currently was however.
Rafa did have a hint of amusement in his eyes now. Really, she her boldness towards him and overt confidence in her attire wasn't something he saw paired often.
"And who's to say I'll get my arm back after entering?" She seemed like a woman who would demand his arm for the duration of of the ball.

"Oh, why, how do you do, dear," she said a nod of the head. This certainly was a strapping young man who knew how to tuck in his shirt. "Ah yes, the great Godric Gryffindor. One of the few men in wizarding history who was able to pull off that...scruffy look." She glanced at the young man in his sunglasses once again.
Legend didn't see what the big deal was. But it was alright, he wasn't going to pout and act like a child. All great minds were frowned upon in their time. When he was dead and gone people would admiring his amazing defeats and his somewhat incredible fashion sense. "If I'm taking too seriously people might deem me as a threat." Being the underdog was better anyways.
He shook his head. "No it's fine, really." But it was rude to make assumptions, important looking lady.
...
He KNEW she was important. "Oh..well pleasure to meet you Miss Kaufman." If she had started off with that maybe he would have listened to her. He held out his hand, unsure if that was what he was suppose to do.
Unappealing aura? "That actually sounds cool." He whispered to Neptune. What was bad about that. Who cared about aura anyways?

She'd have to make sure they got two copies, one for their house, and one for her to have on her desk. It would look pretty there. She did need to fill that gap on the desk after all. "And...the discomfort is worth it dear." She assured him with a big smile. "You look pretty amazing." Truth. She felt very proud to be his girlfriend right now.
But Armen was proving to be pretty annoying. Wes looked constipated really? "Well at least he's not talking out of his backside." She remarked, grinning at Armen. Yes. The auror was very glad that she had come to her senses. It was just a shame it had taken her so long to get over it. Oh. Armen agreed with her that Wes was quite the charmer. "Glad you agree..." She smirked over her shoulder, before walking away with Wes.
Ahh. Look who it was. Evander and Lily. The blonde smiled as they came to a standstill next to them. "Evening Van,Lily." Isobel noted that Lily looked really pretty. Isobel approved of that dress. Iz sipped at her champagne as Wes talked. Yes. He was quite right about the ball. They did have a lot to celebrate. Finally things were all good within the ministry.
Legend was about to answer, but of course Neptune could introduce herself. He just smiled as Neptune went into "official ball mode". He didn't know how she did it. "This is Wesley and Isobel. I work with them, and they haven't tried to kill me yet, so clearly they are good people." Legend said introducing Neptune to his co-workers.
"Oh you read it too? On that rare one right? First edition, extremely hard to come by. Made in the ninetieth century even." Legend smirked. He had to tuck in his shirt, but Wes was wearing a tux, so obviously the man was suffering more. "Hates tux's he was even trying to pass a law to ban them."

"Mrs. Bole." Unlike Neptune, Legend smiled happily at the woman. She wasn't the scary one here, that was her husband. Plus the Healer had fixed him up a couple of times at school, so he owed her in a way.
"We are just lovely." This time his smile was a bit forced. It was hard to say, YEAH, they were having so much fun being attacked! "And you?" And your limping husband? Legend wasn't sure if he was allowed to ask about Evander. At any rate, he was hoping that they could slowly back away without anyone noticing.

The speech? Was actually Legend's name.
"Lysander Jedidiah Hayden Shiloh Merric Chosen.....?" she repeated, using the same emphasis. What? WHAT?
*GAPE*
Oh.
"Bott. Miss Neptune Bott." THESE people didn't seem to want to pick on them or tuck Legend's shirt in, so maybe they would be okay? She already felt exhausted and they hadn't even made it inside yet. "Pleasure." To whoever you are.
"Healer Moretti..., pardon, I mean Mrs. Bole," Neptune curtsied respectfully. But her expression was something closer to a plea/accusation: YOUR husband called ME poor! Reprimand him publicly! Save me! Save us!
See what you started Evander?
He wasn't even going to ask how the man knew his name. He probably knew everything about all his employees. But he didn't have to go around...saying it.
"No-er..yes but..no." He said stiffly to Neptune as she repeat his real name. "I'll... explain to you later." He whispered. Ugh. Name.
""Only some.I think Van would be a good jester." He whispered back with a slight smirk on his face. The Van could be used in so many skits. Legend gave Neptune's hand a small squeeze as if trying to tell her it was alright. It was hilarious, she was getting more offended than he was. It wasn't even like he would mind being an old straggler, but he wouldn't say that out loud. Turning into the next Armen was not his goal in life.

Taking her eyes away from the soon-to-be-father, Helena couldn't keep a small smile off her face. She observed the entrance hall for a moment and watched a couple of people make their way through the fancy oak doors.
Well... they were here. Now what?
Planet sitting on her stomach?
First Ryan raised his eyebrows at the words, then he looked down at her very pregnant belly and finally he looked back up to face her. Actually the figure of speech was good and funny at a point, positively so, since it turned the man's usual cunning smirk into a warm little smile. ''All of the Astronomists on earth run after discovering and studying the best of the planets. I pity them, to be frank, they will never be able to fulfill their dreams because we...'' he brought a careful hand on her belly ''...have the most precious one here.'' How he looked did not matter to him but it was nice to hear it from her. After giving her another smile, the man collected himself, and looked around the place. It was crowded, of course, and full of familiar and unfamiliar faces.
''Well...let's move on and make this night an enjoyable one for us.'' Even though it was a goverment ball. It could still be fun with right people and right actions.

It seemed like Evander wasn't getting away from reprimanding his employees after all, as Dorian watched his department head put the newest YATI in his place. In fact, it oddly made him wonder where the other two YATIs were, as he at least knew Miss Browne from their discussion of the cult before things had gotten out of hand. The discussion where he'd proposed the idea of camping out in the office to protect Level Two from infiltration, that he'd actually upheld until they'd taken the Ministry back. His attention went back to Laurie, however, as she'd responded to his words about people using them. "Ah," he commented. There was a story there, but he wasn't about to ask.
Instead, he let the conversation continue on, and nodded at her comment. "Hopefully. Although at least it seems MLE is in attendance enough that things should be safe if anything does happen." He had his wands secreted on his person, after all. He didn't leave his flat without them, even if they were at a formal event. He'd glanced down at her again as she'd requested a favor, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow slightly as she continued. It seemed there was another story there, but she seemed even less likely to tell it than the previous. "Sure," he replied, after some thought. Even though he'd rather not deal with any questions like that, since he'd only agreed to escort her as a favor to begin with. And then things got even more awkward, as she went on to ask the exact question he preferred avoiding. "There's no need to talk just to hear my own voice," he responded, trying to avoid having to bring up his past and everything else that brought to mind. Plus, there was the possibility that would distract her, as he had a feeling even she knew he was referring to a couple of their colleagues.
Man...not much of a talker was right. Laurie had managed to get two hole sentences out of him that weren't single words. This was going to be a long night at this rate. She watched as the kid Evander yelled at tucked in his shirt swiftly and a smirk came to her lips. He really did deserve that.
Glancing up at Dorian she sighed to herself. Long night indeed. No wonder she never thought of dating any of the MLE guys they were all so...blah. "It's called passing the time, Dorian." She slid her arm out of his and across her chest still trying to decide if she wanted another drink or not. "Perhaps I like hearing your voice," she said with a shrug as she eyed Recard who was heading into the ballroom. Drat. "Why didn't you ask anybody to this...extravaganza?" There if he didn't want to talk about his past he was going to talk about something.

It was apparently a good thing that he could tell his recently acquired escort was amused by what was happening with Chosen. Dorian wasn't about to open up, and it seemed that was irritating Laurie a bit. Of course, it wasn't her, beyond the fact she'd brought it up with her polite curiosity. He just wasn't likely to rehash things with someone he only knew from sharing an office. "I understand that. But there are also some topics that would ruin a night more by being said than by being unsaid," he said patiently, gray eyes watching Recard slip into the ballroom as he took another drink of the champagne still in his hand. Seemed like they were trying to nudge everyone inside, and he watched as Katherine slipped throught he doors as well. That was another person he knew, although they hadn't really talked much after the discovery she worked in Transportation.
But at Laurie's subsequent question, he turned his attention back to her and the eyebrow winged up again. "If I hadn't already been informed, I could ask the same to you," he commented dryly. "There just wasn't anyone I'd really ask." He wasn't like Wes, or Blaine, if the security man was going to come with Miss Browne. The only person beyond MLE he'd even spoken to didn't appear to be working at the Ministry anymore, and he hadn't felt the need to look Fionn up anyhow. He'd only come as another representative of those who had assisted in taking the Ministry back, and that didn't require a date.

Ryuu smiled as she laughed, finishing off the last of his drink. He put his glass down and started to walk, leading her around the room. The night was still young. They could eventually move towards the buffet tables.
He listened politely as she told him about herself, gently smiling as he caught her rolling her eyes. "Aah, a new husband. Not a fan, are we? Mmm, I suppose I wouldn't be very pleased, either..." Who would?
What was this? Had he said overseas? Oops.
"I'm sorry, Thalia...I gave you the wrong information. I didn't go overseas. I went back to Romania and it was as beautiful as it always has been. I'm probably being a little biased, though," he winked, grinning. "It is my home country, after all."

Millie walked into the 'ball' late as usual she's always late to everything that's not work she just cant help it it just seems to happen. she tucked her long red hair behind her ear & straighten out her white dress which she was unconformable in took a deep breath
& walked into the ball & wondered if maybe tonight she could meet some friends.

Ohhhhhhhhhh yes a long nigh indeed. "You'd think the requirement to join MLE was some long, drawn out, sordid past that no one ever spoke of," she muttered more to herself than him. She glanced up at Dorian and simply shook her head before watching everyone head inside. "Come on Mr. Dark and Broody I think they want everyone to herd inside like cattle," she gave him a smirk and slipped her arm through his once more.
Wasn't he just a bag full of cheer. "Touche, Dorian, touche." Well at least he was tolerable..in his own way. "Alright if you don't want to talk about...well anything dealing with yourself apparently...what do you want to talk about?"

Well this brought back memories… sort of. She recalled briefly their first encounter. At times it seemed like the most tragic of relationships, but currently it was perfection. She walked gracefully (and with a certain ‘look at me’ swagger) as she hung on Mason’s arm. With her free arm she checked once again to be sure her small bag was still dangling from her shoulder. She typically didn’t keep a purse, but tonight it held something very special. Something VERY special.
Well this place was certainly hopping. Everyone was here, nerves swept over her. Was she making the right decision? Was this the right place to do it? They were all dressed up, and they had been dating for a while. Medea knew that Mason wasn’t the type to put himself out there, so she’d have to.
Nervously she squeezed his hand in return and flashed an awkward smile. ”mmhm. Yes of course.”Calm down or he’ll think something is wrong.
She swept a loose hair back and nodded, ”Where to sit?”
Nicole was wondering what Elizabeth ment by a leave. She thought she just ask. "What do you mean about a leave?" Did Elizabeth mean about after the baby was born or chancing Ministry placement.. cause Nicole heard they were doing that. Nicole just smiled and said, "I'm pretty excited, because now my life goes back to normal."
"Taking a week or two after the baby is born to relax and spend time with my newborn son." Elizabeth laughed. A guy 2 years older than Elizabeth walked in, "Iza, long time no see. What gives?" He smiled a cocky smile, "Have you been avoiding me?" He laughed. Elizabeth turned around when she heard the nickname Iza. She hadn't heard that name or voice in years. A smiled played at her lips and she laughed. Elizabeth hugged the man, "I might just be." A smirk showed up, "What cha doing here, Ad?" "I heard that your husband wasn't coming so i thought i might sweep in and take you." He laughed, Man how she gets prettier each day and that smile?" Ad smiled and kissed her cheek. Elizabeth turned slightly to Nicole and Robert, "Nicole, Robert this is my old friend Adam. Adam this is my coworker and friend Nicole and her fiance Robert." "Pleasure meeting you." He nodded at both of them.

Atticus wasn't really used to attending fancy balls like this. He didn't care much for wearing expensive suits, and even though he could dance, he rarely had someone to dance with, so he didn't care for that part of it either. The only good thing was usually the food, but he couldn't exactly hang out around that table all night - not at this ball anyway. His only hope was that he would see some people he knew, like one of his employees, or that he's find someone new who was willing to talk to him; otherwise, it was going to be a very long night.
He glanced around upon entering the Entrance Hall, but it was fairly crowded already so he didn't immediately notice anyone he knew. Hm. Perhaps they were already inside the ballroom?

"Hello, Elizabeth." Melanie waved to her friend from the Ministry of Magic. She glanced at the other people who were with her as well. One of the ladies seemed to be very familiar to her, but from where? Nevertheless, Melanie waved hello to them too. Jason had not wanted to be here, but Melanie had dragged him along and forcing him into a suit though he did not like it. Not at all. He cleared his throat when Melanie nudged him the stomach and muttered a slight "hello" to the other guests as well.

Melanie also saw in the corner of her eye a young man that seemed very lost. She had wanted to say hello to him as well even though she had not met him at all from anywhere in the ministry, but another part of her told her to keep her guard up about this man.
Jason looked up at the man as well when she caught Melanie staring at him and gave him a dark look even though he wasn't supposed to. What is wrong with him today? Jason looked quickly away when he thought the man glanced at them slightly.
