My Patronus Is My Art

:moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose::moose: :moose: :moose: :moose:

Hi all!

It's me, Moose, or Jay. I go more by the latter, but will definitely answer to the former because I'm so full of energy and probably drank about a gallon of coffee before typing up this introduction who's to say? You don't have any proof!!!

Let's not get off tangent here, my apologies. I've been apart of Snitchseeker for such a long time, longer than some, less than some others. Still though I've always loved this community.

Something that I've loved much longer than Snitchseeker (and don't forget I love Snitchseeker!) has been creating Art. Drawing Characters, and or other things (Depends on what I'm motivated to make at the time). I finally want to share all of that with you.

:moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose: :moose:

I've started drawing my Characters that I play in the SSRPG, and I've even drawn a few other User's Characters as well.

I'll be doing my best to keep sharing my creations in here for you all.

I also want to extend the invitation for requests. As I said above I've drawn other User's Characters. If you like what you see from my work, don't hesitate to ask me to draw one of your characters. I wouldn't even mind if you thought to challenge me :whaa:, and request for other things besides SSRPG Characters. You'll see that I'll be sharing things in here besides Harry Potter related pieces so don't be afraid.

Anyways Welcome to My Art

Your Snitchseeker Resident Moose Smiley User.

The Fine Print: Since this isn't a request shop, but I am taking requests. I should make it apparent that if there are any requests they will be done at my leisure and will be finished out of order depending on what inspires me the most to create first. Your Requests are to help inspire me to create and to share. My Art is for you all to Enjoy.

I ADORE YOUR FIRST SELF PORTRAIT, JAY! I like that you have a drawing style that is so YOU, you know? Like I could pick it out of a doodle line up :loved:

And I'm kind of feeling a SCENE? The one that comes to mind is our first Oakey and Airey interaction in Astronomy when Airey charmed the room to act anti-gravity-like and Oakey was just floating around getting hurt and chasing after his helmet:lmao:

A Full Fledged Illustration. That’s a challenge I can get behind. If I’m not mistaken Alice Fischer bit his foot too.

WHA?!?!? Pokémon?!

FYI Bulbasaur was tough to draw on memory and I don’t have the best light green colors to match it’s actual colors.

*flails about* But these are perfection, Jay! Love them!

you know what might be fun to try, Jay :hmm: cross over Pokemon...RP charrie or HP charries reimagined as Pokemon. I did this in college once with my friends where we did each other:xd: mostly puns on each other names in some way BUT might be a fun way to blend two of your interests :pea:

I love this idea. another Idea would be them casting the Patronus and a Pokemon that resemble their's being conjured from it.

It's easy to know what Harry, Ron, and Hermione's will be

Super Hero

You ever feel inspired so much by your imagination to draw a Hero

And then 7 Years Later redraw him.

This is my Hero,The Solar Soldier created in 2012

lookit that cheesy signature at the bottom.

And this is his Reboot, Re-imagining, 2019
Photos!: THE SOLAR SOLDIER: REBIRTH

I did a few more besides Solar Soldier (did I forget to mention?) Anyways I did the same as I did above. I have the Original and then the "Reboot" below it

And this is the Reboot.

It doesn't feel right unless there's a third. You get Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman...but what about me!?

Well I did have one more to add to that :moose:

I give you ...

I'll be honest... I wasn't aware what seers were entirely, and my younger brain decided on EYE MAGICIANS!
I learned lessons. Here is her Reboot!

sweetpinkpixie 09-05-2019 12:00 AM

oh man Jay I love these :xd: and yes...I totally drew my own superheroes when I was a teen too:lol: mine were Sailor Senshi though (based on the zodiac) and I did concept art for a tv show me and my dormmates created (also based on the Sailor Senshi).

I'm not saying you should give us a taste of a comic panel for these characters...only I am totally saying you should give us a taste of what their comic might look like  *all the demands*

I haven't done a comic panel since College :whaa:

I love how you keep jumping in here with these ideas, Kath. I appreciate how invested you are in my work.

I did INKtober. Wooo boy is this gonna be a hefty one.

So doing this back in October was a major deal for me. I had said to myself since this INKtober trend start in 2016 that I would try my hardest to get one done. I had tried to get to it in 2019 but motivation didn't hit me as well as it did last October. Th was when SEEKtober took place and seeing everyone else sharing their work I had to do the same. So to all the other Artists of Snitchseeker, and to the members who encouraged me and showed love to the Art as I shared it on Twitter. I cannot thank you enough, and I wanted to share it with you all again.

Fish: I was pretty excited with having a go with Fish first. As a kid my Grandfather would take my siblings and I to Lakes or Ponds when we visited him in Ohio and we would catch so many Large Mouth Bass.

Wisp: So it took me a bit to think of something for "Wisp" I'm still a bit confused with what I chose to do an eye, but that decision stuck with me. Looks wispy though, don't it?

Bulky: Heh, okay. First of the creepy ones. So I drew a lot of Dragon Ball Z when I was a teenager. I really figured out how to draw muscles thanks to Akira Toriyama. The 2nd one is just based on the question "What does his other arm look like?"

Radio: Check out the Pokemon Drawings I did up top. Electivire has been a favorite since it was revealed, and I nickname them "Radio" in my games. Because Electric Type and Radios run on Electricity....let's move on.

Blade: Have you SEEN Critical Role?! How could I not draw Captain Fjord Tusktooth and his Star Razor Sword!?

Oof okay 1st of 3 4-in-1 page. Bare with me.
Rodent: I'm sorry. It's another creepy one. I could have just drawn a Hamster or something. It's not my fault! Halloween makes you think of scary things...okay?!
Fancy: This was about the time Jim Carrey portrayed Joe Biden on SNL and I just thought to myself. Old Jim Carrey in a suit. That's an excuse to draw him for "Fancy".
Teeth: Bet you thought it was worm or something Beetlejuice related!? HA gotcha!
Throw: It's funny because he looks like he's worried about being thrown into the Sandworm's mouth. I have a dark sense of humor

SPOILER!!: October 10th & 11th 2020
please excuse the poor excuse of a layout for these two drawings.
Hope: It's Takeru (TK) from Digimon. Crest of Hope and all that Jazz.
Disgusting: Look I understand if you'd rather look at me misspelling "Disgusting" than to look at the Disgusting drawing. I totally get it.

Slippery: Bit of a story here. That's my brother taking a faceplant on a grind rail while skiing. He was 12, He's okay. The photo being taken at that very moment was just fate.

Dune: It's not Timothée Chalamet, and that's okay.

Armor: I loved the design of the Armor in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Outpost: You can't convince me that the Kame House in Dragon Ball Z wasn't like a base of Operation for a while in this Anime.

Rocket: I had always wanted to trying drawing The Rocketeer. This was the moment to do it!

Storm: Not gonna lie. I had to try like 3 or 4 different drawings before settling on this fellow. I do enjoy the shapes to it all.

Trap: It's a Mimic. From Dungeons and Dragons. Don't want to get caught in this trap.
Dizzy: That there is Mel Brooks in High Anxiety, obviously.
Coral: Look I backed myself into a corner when I made this one a 4 drawing page. We've all got some drawings we wish we could hide forever.
Sleep: Dream from the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman.

Chef:The two best Chefs I know cooking together.

RIP: Look, we all cried watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Errr... I mean it's a terrible day for rain.

Dig:Yeah, I hate Governor Ratcliffe too.
Buddy: What's your favorite color?
Hide: Escaping into a vent? That's not sus.
Music: The greatest musician to have graced the earth with me at the same time, Serj Tankian.

Float: Have you seen the music Video for Float by Flogging Molly? You should go watch it.
Shoes: I dislike drawing shoes, but I did my best here.
Ominous: Everything about Over The Garden Wall is secretly ominous.
Crawl: Lobstrocity from The Dark Tower. They crawl, and they're dangerous lobsters. Kind of like Evil Mackled Malaclaws.

kayquilz 01-08-2021 02:35 AM

I enjoy ALL of these, Jay *___* What I admire most is your SHADING and your "sketchy" style. Like...it seems like you scribble and then the scribbles ADD UP TO BEAUTIFULLY RENDERED ART. I wish I could do this. The SKILL

You're not the first to tell me about this style. :yaydance: I never really think about it. But I love it when that is pointed out because I absolutely love how I make my art.

Something that a lot of people catch is my posture. Often I'm sitting straight with my head up like I'm looking forward but my eyes are down. I say it helps me see the whole picture like I'm looking down on it from above. I'm pretty sure I'm just straining my eyes. Which is probably why I have to wear glasses.

Dungeons & Dragons Character Artwork.

ArianaBlack 01-08-2021 11:14 PM

holy guacamole, mr moose! Your artwork is so VIBRANT and FULL OF LIFE ! I can tell that you put so much of your heart into them :loved: I always enjoy getting to peek at your art skills! Thanks for sharing them with us, it's always a BLAST to go through each spoiler tag, especially this time since you've given us HEAPS to admire

Cassirin 01-09-2021 02:23 AM

These all look super cool, Jay! I'm really impressed with the color and vibrancy of your drawings. Are these all YOUR characters?

emjay 01-12-2021 04:07 AM

Wow, look at all of that inktober! I'm pretty impressed, and also a little jealous, that you kept up with it and did something every day. I really like your style, especially how you draw people and characters. Really great work!

For Dungeons and Dragons, I certainly hope to ever have a chance to play them. Getting into any game is always a hassle  . They may even be possible NPCs for a world I've been crafting for a very very very long time.

Thank you so much MJ! The times I get to see some of your work inspires me often. And LOL Some of these were more like 2-4 a night if I'd fallen behind but I wanted to have it all done by October 31st and I hit that goal :moose:

One Piece

I'm gonna start a collection of Drawings now for Characters from One Piece. My favorite manga/anime since I was 14. I've read and watched it for 17 years. And it continues to impress me and I continually fall in love with it weekly.

First Up is my favorite antagonist in the series. Introduced 4 years ago.

The best thing about this is that I did it on my Laptop. I wanted to really test out if I could recreate the same kind of drawing and sketches I can get from drawing in a sketchbook and I feel like this is possibly even better than what I could have done hand drawn.

Moose Trap

So these next two pieces came to mind just a few hours after it happened. If anyone hasn't seen what unfolded in Potions Class this most recent term. I'll provide a link to it.
Oh hey! A wild link has appeared! scroll up to see what lead to this moment, scroll down to see the reactions :exclam:
The motivation came to me when I was sent my "dead" student PM by the Narrator. But they were never dead! They are trapped within a mirror :exclam:

This one I wanted to portray Moose trapped in a mirror. the white reflective surface and the wooden border on each side representing the mirror he was trapped within
Photos!: Moose Trap attempt number 1
This next one I'm a tad more proud of. No mirror reflection, this one would look more what it may seem like within the mirror itself. I wanted to show him still floating in space, and endless void I best summarized it to. I wanted to portray this void as smokey as if the black smoke that took him away was still surrounding him in this space leaving very poor vision to see around himself. The pink in the image is actually lilac. It was a suggestion by Kath since it was the color change my UN went to once Moose was removed from the school.
Photos!: Moose Trap attempt number 2

This is an experience I do not recommend you attempt to get your characters into. Avoid it at all cost!

ArianaBlack 03-12-2021 06:02 PM

OMG JAY WHAT TO HECK !!!!!!!! These are INCREDIBLE!!! I'm so blown away by both of them (but also they make me so SAD ;____; poor lil moose trapped all by himself i'm CRY as is kizzy ldafksdfa;df). I was already stunned by the detail in the first one (the poor busted head, the way you imitated the reflective mirror quality, HIS FACE esp), and then I opened the second one and bro .

BRUUUUUUUUUUH.

Unmatched skills, my friend. This could legitimately be an illustration for a new york times best seller!!!! UGH. so good. I'm so impressed ok!!! I also love these little vignettes of your character's lives drawn out. Words are one thing, but then the images REALLY bring it all to life. *chefs kiss*

astrocat 03-12-2021 06:40 PM

Wow I love those so much! I'm making one for Ash in my head(unfortunately not on paper lol). I really love the details and the two perspectives. One from out of the mirror, and one from within.

sweetpinkpixie 03-13-2021 01:05 AM

UGH. You already know how much I love these and ugh the UN color works SO well with things - I'm so pleasantly surprised and what a neat little way for you to capture the RP experience not only for the character but also yourself. I think one thing I love most about your work is how I can look at a piece and I would just KNOW it is yours because of the style and perspective you bring to your pieces. Really great work again, Jay <3

Illustration for a New York Time Best Seller. Wow wow...wow. Ariana I am utterly speechless with your comment. That is a big deal that I just don't know how to react. I am so grateful that you love it and would give it such high praise. Thank you so much :moose::artist:

Don't be shy, give it a try. All my work starts off in my head. I just need that extra push to put to paper.

Thank you for the love. I hope Ashley and Moose come out of this in one piece :yaydance:

I really appreciate you giving me the idea to use the UN color. I wouldn't have given it a 2nd try if you hadn't jumped into my VMs and confused me at first. I absolutely love getting the chance to draw all the wonderful story beats that come up from the plots you and the other Admins and Mods concoct. You give me the inspiration to bring them to life.

Wow so this plot is off the chain!! a Third Wizarding War!? So much is going on. So far this has been one of the best moments I could get in with my first child (now man).

No Longer Trent

Now this was a fun one to do. Feels like it was so long ago the at the Start of Term Feast, but I have done what I wanted with Lucien/Trent at the very moment Lucien Rosier dropped his disguise as our Headmaster. Being told it was like his face melted off into another was imagery I couldn't pass up. :moose:

These are some of the pieces in progress.

If I had to pick between the two I love the Black and White Drawn one over the color. I put lots of work into that one, but I enjoy the finished color one too.

Bain Goldwasser has by far been my most favorite character introduced from the Neo-Alliance! I finally see his worth and the appeal to him. And his love for Blood Pops.

Here's to more Muggle Tech Exploding in your honor Mr. Vampire!

Don't Worry. I just think Bain might be a bit messy with his Blood Pops.

JAY!!!! These are so nice to look at! I really appreciate you taking the time to post pictures of the process as well. I love your use of color and how much emotion you're able to show in your art :loved:

ArianaBlack 04-14-2021 09:43 PM

omg JAY HOW AM I JUST NOW SEEING THESE!!!

The no-longer-trent ones are just *chefs kiss* I love how you showed the melty face on one half - what a spot on portrayal of what happened in the RP. I lowkey want you to illustrate EVERYTHING that's gone down during the term!! I sometimes have a hard time visualizing what things look like beyond just reading the words / descriptors, so it's been such a cool experience to pop by your portfolio and actually see the words come to life. thank you for helping me experience this imagery ;___;

and and aND
i love bain. he has such a beautiful face. you did his beautiful face so well. i am in love. ALSO. I really really love the way you add texture to your art. It's SO cool. I feel like i can reach out and touch bain's hair and know exactly how it'll feel like based off the way you've drawn it. 1000/10

Mordred & Oakey: Best Friends

As Requested by Stefan

This one I had wanted to convey the very moment the two of them bonded and became best friends. Mordred dragging Oakey away from danger. Probably his greatest good luck charm he had as a kid and to the present.

Here is a video of the process up to that point of creation.

Here is a video of the process from the previous point to the finished piece.

Stefan 10-27-2021 04:14 PM

:omglook: :lookart:

*rolls in a pool of nostalgia* Oakey may not be his first Hogwarts friend, but he definitely is his best friend. Growing up as an only child, with very limited interaction with children his age, Mordy was able to open himself up to other people because of him. What a moment it was.

Thank you, Jay! :loveattack:

Yes, but anyways here is my favorite scene from my favorite Cartoon from 2014.

ugh. jay. I'm always in awe of how you can draw figures and portray characters and scenes and these things you envision from the RP and how it plays out. I'd love to be able to do that

that duck is adorable but also Aegis himself, the way you captured the human form (that's not an intentional dig at his stint as a mallard, but...) is excellent, as is how you got his clothes all draped and folded so realistically. do you use reference images for this kind of thing and, if so, how closely do you stick to them?

when you mentioned the hair in the picture of Moose I honed in on it and I think you absolutely nailed it. also, Wirt in the mirror is a really neat effect. aNd. I've not seen One Piece at all but I don't think I need to in order to marvel at that one... piece.

and  this most recent post is. I. okay. I don't want to repeat myself too much so let me just say 1. human form. 2. clothing. 3. how dare you. having the whole piece in different greens makes for a really nice effect too, I think this is one of my favourites you've done.

I do use Reference photos. When I did a lot of figure drawing in college we always had a model in front of use so it super special helpful when I have an image of what I want to recreate in my art.

and you know I've had some practice with drawing a mirror effect before.

The More I work with my Laptop the more I figure out how to translate what I do with pen and pencil on paper through the digital medium, and I love it. :artist: :moose: :artist:

And here we go. The piece I've been messing around with the past 2 days. Another Super Hero. This time reimagined through the digital medium.

Photos!: Crash!Impact "The Burst Hero"
https://i.postimg.cc/KF9SLz0W/Crash2.jpg
His Super Power is the ability build up kinetic energy which he can either convert into extreme speed, or powerful hits. He can run at fast but short bursts of speed and use the remaining energy to increase the "impact" of his hits.

I began to question the blue and teal so I went with the reliable Red, White, and Blue color combo. Switched the teal for gray and added lines and details with red and blue to let the costume stand out a bit more. pulled the blue sleeves up to his shoulder in the action shot. I also added the burning sparks look to show off what his power might look like as he stores and releases the kinetic energy.

Yumeki Kawatani 2108 Spring Dance

Photos!: 2108 Spring Dance Yumeki Kawatani
What's important to note here are his two practice swords behind him and their shadows merging with his own/his shadow just casting the shadow of the swords behind him and not his own. For me that is a representation of the swords being an extension of his own body. Which is a regular idea taught to any swordsman.

Related to the Dance's theme. Yumeki is wearing Red to match the Fire Element theme for the Event. I added in a lot of pink to the red for light and shadow, but also it fits Yumeki's recuring Sakura Blossom theme as well.

Photos!: 2108 Spring Dance Massaude Stover
Moose went with the Aether theme for the Spring Dance. Going with the thought that Aether and Outer space go nearly hand-in-hand. The Yellow Aura highlighting him in the piece represents he brightness of the stars in space.

The suit with the Trench Coat and the Space theme he went with give me 10th Doctor vibes. Only thing he's missing is the Converse. Love me some David Tennant. :artist:

The Solar Soldier Gathers Light

I did this one a while back and was shocked I never uploaded it. Discovered that I hadn't done so while I was working on another piece that also centered on the same hero character. It was a retracing of an old piece I'd done on paper on my tablet then messed with the tools in my tablet to get the result I felt most happy with.

This next one is of the same character I did today. I had just finished watching an Episode of The Legends of Vox Machina, and one of the characters does this pose while collecting sunlight. That scene had a very emotional impact on me, that I had to replicate it with this Hero who's powers are based off of sunlight.

Thank you Ern :moose: I think that comes from all the charcoal figure drawing I had to sit stand through when I went to college.

This was my first try at an the idea I had to show of Yumeki in all his glory. Below will have the piece I settled with and finished.
There was a lot I was not feeling right with on the first attempt. Yumeki's face didn't feel like Yumeki, the Lion merged with the Cherry Blossom petals looked more like a wolf, and I talked myself down from a Kappa Patronus to a Sea Turtle. I also altered his pose. His Arm extending the wand to the air I bent just a bit instead of a straight stick-up. It shows a bit more motion like he's performing the spell. And I managed to do what I originally wanted with his other hand carrying his bokken sword behind his back resting on his shoulders. Just had to look up a ton of references until I could find the right position In needed. I also swapped him out of his school uniform. I was going to do a kind of combo of him mixing his Himatsumahou Uniform and Hogwarts Uniform, but changed my mind to have him in a more casual outfit. I haven't really shown him off outside of his school uniforms, casual wear, or his Kendo gear.
The Final Product. The Moon represents his connection to his Japanese School, Himatsumahou. He was a part of the White Kumi House their mascot being the goddess Tsukuyomi. The Lion is his connection to Hogwarts and Gryffindor. I wanted to show off more of who Yumeki was by incorporating Cherry Blossom petals. One of the things Yumeki did often at Himatsumahou was sleep beneath the Cherry Tree of Eternal Blossom like a Japanese Rip Van Winkle. His T-Shirt has the Kanji for Cherry Blossom (Sakura) written on it as well. More noticable is that the Lion himself is taking form out of the cherry blossoms. The final things about this is his Patronus is a look into the future. As he has not yet performed the spell, but if he were to do it. His corporeal patronus would take the shape of a Loggerhead Sea Turtle. The shell of the sea turtle gives off the presence of a shield. Which is the Defense Yumeki will need as he is so dedicated to training in his Sword martial arts.

I suppose these are both displaying their respective sins they are based off of. Sloth and Wrath respectively. It wasn't intentional either, but both of their hands are helping do this too. Yumeki's helping hold his head up, while Moose's is aggressively pointing forward. Also note that Yumeki's Bio Picture has softer outlines as opposed to Moose's more thick dark and pointed ones.

Ok. I'll be honest I'm finding all of these comparisons while I'm typing this out. Which is pretty awesome if you ask me.

https://i.postimg.cc/WpHr30yB/Stone-...ess-Sleep2.jpg
Worked in Airbrush and Felt Pen for the outlining.

This piece is depicting Yumeki in one of his precarious positions for a nap on the Stone Bridge at dusk. Having stopped to just get a 10 minute nap that became longer and longer... Yet he is oddly very balanced. He really should just sleep in his bed. I Started this one yesterday but stopped wanting to get it done today. I would feel far more special to post a piece of my artworks here on this thread on the twelfth year of my joining Snitchseeker.
