"Really?" Ivan exclaimed, pleased. He flushed and shuffled from side to side, embarrassed by his pleasure. "So...um...Reversal Squad hasn't been by, eh?" Heh heh. Score another one for the Obliviators. Ivan rocked back on his heels, clasping his hands behind his back. All was very well in Ivan's world. He took perverse pleasure in one-upping the RS department. The source of this innocent competitive urge was unknown - it had simply sprung into his consciousness one day. Whether Ben suspected or not wasn't even on Ivan's radar. Though perhaps Ivan's increasing smug-tinged grin might easily give it away. I really ought to drop by the RS office...just check in on them...heh heh. There might be a little gloating involved. |
"Ben!" Lorraine exclaimed, quickly knocking and opening the door of the Magical Accidents & Catastrophes Department Head. She had just come from a fabulous little meeting with the shopkeeper at Florean's, where together they thought of the most awesome idea to celebrate Christmas at Diagon Alley with the shopkeepers and department heads. Surely Ben would just love to join in the fun. Spotting the male at his desk, Lorraine held out the charmed box for him to see. "I've got the greatest news! And I know you're just going to die of love at this. I've just discussed with the woman at Florean's Ice Cream, Bella, and we've planned out a wonderful idea to celebrate Christmas at Diagon Alley. We've decided to do a Secret Santa, and we'd like to ask you to join in on all the fun." Setting the charmed box down on the man's desk, she patted it lovingly with her hand. "In this box, we've placed the names of every Ministry Department Head and each and every Diagon Alley Shopkeeper and Assistant," Lorraine explained. "The box was charmed so that when you tap your wand on the box and say 'Accio!', a certain name designated just for you will shoot from the box and land in your hands. Remember not to tell anyone whose name you drew - not even me! All you have to do at that point is buy a gift for that person and somehow get it delivered to them without knowing who sent it - they'll need to guess! Won't that be fun?!" Lorraine's hazel eyes twinkled with delight. "Now, if you decide to participate, we'll have a little party at Florean Fortescue's on December 19 (OOC: December 19-21 anytime is the roleplay). You can come bringing your favorite party foods and drinks, and we'll see if anyone has been able to figure out their Secret Santa!" Lorraine continued. "So, now then. Would you like to participate? If you would, tap your wand once upon this little box, say the correct incantation, and your name will just pop right on out of there! Go on...give it a try!" ***** OOC: As soon as you roleplay your charrie choosing a name, please return to this thread and follow the directions. Use the [s] [*/s] feature without the * to cross out the name you choose, then roleplay your charrie sometime before December 19 delivering the gift. You may choose a Ministry charrie or a Diagon Alley charrie. You can just be as creative as you'd like at this point. Don't forget about the party, either! Make sure you cross out the name you choose, so we won't have one or more people choosing the same person! Any questions, feel free to PM me! |
Ben was slightly taken aback by the intrusion into his office by none other than Lorraine Brothmeister and didn't even have a chance to say hello before she started talking. He grinned as she explained her Secret Santa plan and stood up when she finished speaking. "Why yes, that DOES sound like fun! So, all I have to do is tap it?" he asked, pulling out his wand and giving the box a quick glance. He picked up his wand and tapped it on the top. "Accio!" he muttered as a tiny piece of paper shot out of the box. He caught it in his fist and quickly glanced over the name, grinning as he found out who he had. "I can't wait to get started on this...it's not every day Diagon Alley and the Ministry have a nice little get together like this!" |
Quote:
Oops! Perhaps invading offices was not the best approach, but could she seriously help that she was overtly excited over this mini event she organized with Bella on the whim? Nodding at his question, she replied, "Yup. Tap and say the incantation." If only she were a master legilimens; tis would be awesome to see what each paper said... "I know, right? It's just a nice excuse for us to all forget about the stresses of work and relax with other workaholics!" she grinned, as Christmas seemed to have put quite the cheerful mood on her. Either that or it was Teal, but no matter. "Thanks Ben! And er . . . I'll see you in a week or so? I must get to the other Head's offices before they head home, hope you'll understand." Lorraine explained, picking the charmed box into her arms and turning to leave his office and move onto the next level. |
Samantha knocked on the door of the Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. "Ben, are you in?", she called out. "I have a visitor with me today, Miss Rachel Rider, a student at Hogwarts. Rachel is the niece of one of my employees, Mr. Jake Rider, and I have agreed to give her a tour of the entire Ministry in return for her coming down here to visit with me today. Samantha waited for Rachel to catch up with her. |
Rachel caught up with Samantha just as she walked into the office. Her cloak was shimmering and swishing around her, and she knew for a fact that at least she looked respectable... if not really nice. Smiling at the Head, she let her curious eyes roam the room. I don't get this department... she thought to herself, then realised that she could just ask the Head. She nodded to him as she was introduced and wondered whether she should extend her hand or not. Deciding against it because it would look weird, she just waited for him to greet her. |
Ben looked up just as Lorraine walked out when he heard a knock on his door. Visitors? Who ever would be visiting him? He doubted it was an employee--they were all down at the Conference by now. "Of course, come in Samantha!" Ben said enthusiastically as he stood up and opened the door for the two girls. "And Miss Rider, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said with a friendly smile at the student. "So, visiting from Hogwarts, eh?" he asked, heading back to his desk and extending a hand towards the two open chairs for each of them. "Please sit down--so, what house are you in?" he asked, making polite conversation as he waved his hand. Nearby, a pot of tea took to the air and floated over to his desk, pouring three tiny glasses as he took his seat. "Tea anyone?" |
Rachel smiled back and sat down graciously. The tour wasn't long, but the Ministry was huge so her legs felt a little tired. She nodded and said, "Yeah, and I'm in Ravenclaw. It's the best house ever!" She said the last part with added enthusiasm, and gesturing to her newly bought special blue robes. She giggled slightly as he offered them tea. "Thanks Mr- er... I'm afraid I don't know your name, sir," she said and blushed slightly. She knew his first name, as Samantha had used it to call him, but felt it would be really rude to call him Ben. Even though it does kind of suit him... |
Ben just nodded and chuckled. "Mr. Cobblesten is just fine. So, Ravenclaw eh? I was in Hufflepuff myself but my oldest daughter was a Ravenclaw...perhaps you know my nephew, Cale Newell? He's the prefect in the Gryffindor house--how that boy ever got on their Quidditch team is beyond me, he can hardly walk on his own two feet without injuring himself...oh, I'm sorry, I'm rambling." he stopped abruptly when he realized he had let his mouth get away from him again and cleared his throat. "So, why the sudden urge to tour the Ministry?" he asked with a grin and a small laugh. "Interested in joining one of the departments after you graduate?" he asked. |
Rachel's face split into a relieved smile and she leaned back into her chair. "Oh yes, of course I know Cale Newell. I don't know him personally though, but I've seen him around and certainly heard a lot about him. And I actually think he's a good player..." she answered, giggling. "But Ravenclaw won the Cup this year," she added in a proud voice. "Um, well..." she started, not knowing what to say. How is she supposed to explain that she was only here because it was part of a deal with Samantha? Deciding to ignore that question she smoothly transitioned into the next. "Well, I think I might. I don't know what I want to be after I graduate, but I do know that I want my job to be fun," she said with a smile. "And, if it's not rude to ask, what is this Department for? I mean, what do actually work on? I've always wondered," she added, blushing again at her bluntness. |
Quote:
"Of course it's not rude!" he told the girl with a chuckle when she asked him what the Department did. "To be honest, not a lot of people really know what we do here. Basically this whole department deals with spells that go wrong. Say you were trying to clean your curtains, but you accidentally did the spell wrong and set them on fire instead, and because you did it wrong the flames were resistant to all types of extinguishers--then you'd call us. Also, if a Muggle somehow witnesses any type of magical activity, accident or not, and their memory needs to be wiped clean, we take care of that as well. Oh, and we have a lovely department in here where we come up with fake news stories to feed the Muggles if there is a mass curse gone aray or something--very popular during the time of You-Know-Who," he explained, absentmindedly stirring his tea over and over as he spoke. |
She listened to his explanation, a small smile dancing on he lips. I like this guy... He should become a teacher! He explains things well, and manages to make them sound interesting and funny. She nodded as he finished and said, "Well, that last department sounds like fun. I never actually thought of the things you mentioned, but yeah it figures that there would be a department for that. And, now that you mention it, I have another question." She smiled meekly, hoping he wouldn't think she was unnecessarily focusing on unimportant bits. "How do you actually fix it? I mean, like when you explained about the fire, are there special spells that can overcome these strange results?" she asked, afraid that it hadn't made much sense. |
Samantha smiled at Rachel's question. She was once again impressed by her quick intelligence and saw why she had ended up in Ravenclaw, along with her uncle. How she wanted the two of them to meet! Rachel and Ben seemed to be getting along really well, which was excellent. Even she herself had heard of Cale Newell, she thought to herself, he had quite a good reputation at Hogwarts and was very well regarded. |
Quote:
|
Rachel smiled. That sounds like a cool job... Once he finished, she nodded and asked, "So basically, it's the strength of the spell that matters in the end right? "Well, I can see that you're very busy, so I won't bother you any longer. I really had fun here, Mr. Cobblesten," she added. And she really did have fun; he's the liveliest of all the Department Heads that I have met up 'till now by far. Apart from Samantha! |
"Thanks a lot, Ben, and enjoy your holidays!", Samantha said with a smile. She had to admit that she was enjoying the tour almost as much as Rachel was, it had been a while since she had walked through the Ministry just visiting with people. It might be a nice thing to do in the future, she thought. |
Sneaking into Ben's office, Evaline had to drop off her secret santa gift. She knocked to make sure no one was in and then swiftly opened the door and went in. Seeing his desk, she walked over and set his gift down. She had seen this on some Muggle movie and thought it never hurt to try. Attached to her gift, a spray bottle of Windex, she had a little note attached. Quote:
|
The following memo should be distributed to your employees: http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...CancelMemo.jpg |
Ben watched as everyone exited his office and sighed, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes. Sometimes he really hated work--it was so darn stressful. Just as Rachel and Samantha left the room, he noticed there was a bottle of some blue liquid sitting on his desk. Hmmmm...how come he had never seen that before? "Windex?" he muttered to himself, reading the label on the bottle. From the pictures on the label it looked more like a cleaning solution rather than something to cure problems--these muggles were so strange! He smiled and made a mental note to try and figure out who could have possibly seen a muggle movie about Windex, and then he would figure out his secret santa from there. Then the memo flew in, disturbing his peace again. Sigh. All these memos! He read the note and frowned. That conference had been such a disaster...and that poor Minister! The black cloud of scandal that hung around the Ministry now might never be lifted. Sighing again and making a few copies of the memo, he waved his wand a few times and with a flick, sent his newly fashioned origami memos out into the hallway, where they flew to their respective divisions. |
Reagan approached Mr. Cobblesten's door at a rather rapid speed, forcing herself to slow down as she grew nearer so that she wouldn't walk right into door. Straightening her robes and her hair, and holding her head high with confidence, Reagan knocked on the door. She wanted Ben to believe in her abilities, and a good impression was key, even if this wasn't a first impression. |
Just as the memos had flown out the door, and Ben had stretched out in his chair to try and get some peaceful quiet time, he heard another knock at his door. Opening his blue eyes, he sighed and stood up to go answer the door. To his surprise, it was Miss Reagan herself, from the Minister's office. Oh no--had Cooper somehow heard that Ben had been muttering under his breath about how horrible the security was around here? "Oh, Miss Taylor!" he said with a grin, opening the door so she could walk inside. "What a pleasent surprise. Please come in--would you like some tea?" he asked, nodding at the teapot he kept at the corner of his desk. |
With a smile on her face, Reagan stepped through the doorway into Ben's office. Despite having just ingested a cup of tea in Samantha's office, Reagan gracefully accepted Ben's offer, "Tea would be lovely, thank you. So, how are things in the department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes?" |
Ben grinned in delight as she accepted his cup of tea offer. He pulled out his wand and gave it a flick, heading back to his seat as the pot rose in midair and began to pour two cups of hot tea for them. "Pretty quiet, actually--I guess some people aren't being as careless as they used to be," he said with a small chuckle. It was true, there was definitely a decrease in explosions without the last month. "Please sit down," he added, offering her one of the comfy blue armchairs that was seated facing his desk. "So, what brings you here today?" he asked, taking the cup of tea the pot had just poured and handing it to her. |
Quote:
Taking a seat in the armchair offered to her, Reagan decided to get down to business, no sugar coating. "Well, I'm down here because I'd like to get your opinion, and hopefully your involvement, in a little... project of mine, pertaining to the upcoming election. Long story short, Minister Cooper selected me to run against him because he thinks it would ensure him a victory and would also renew the community's faith in him if he compared favorably to another candidate. Apparently, he thinks me incapable of winning against him and I'd like to prove him wrong. If you're interested, I'd like for you to take an important role in my campaign, as my Advertising Chair. So, what do you think?" |
Ben had just unfortunately taken a sip of his drink when Reagan began her little explanation as to why she was here. And, once she got to the interesting parts, about her running against the Minister and wanting HIM to be a part of it, he swallowed just a bit too quickly. Coughing and blushing with embarrassment, he took a second to compose himself before speaking again. "He doesn't think you'll be able to beat him?" he asked, completely flabbergasted. "Absurd! It's about time that poor excuse of a Minister got booted out!" He paused when he ran what he had just said through his head again. "I'm sorry, that wasn't very polite to say--I don't favor him or his policies at all, and I'd be very honored to help you in your campaign," he told her with a grin. "And I have to say, you're an excellent choice of candidate...I feel if you were in charge things would be a lot better around here," he added. |
Reagan glanced concernedly at Ben as he choked on his tea, trying not to stare and make him uncomfortable, but not wanting to completely ignore it just in case he couldn't clear his throat and actually needed her help. Once he'd regained his composure, Reagan sighed and confirmed, "Minister Cooper probably doesn't think anyone could beat him, least of all me." Raising a joking brow as Ben's true feelings about Brennan burst forth, Reagan agreed, "I'm afraid I've lost my faith in him, as well. He used to be a good politician, good for our community. But these last few years, he seems less concerned, less involved than I think the Minister of our country should be. I've been trying for months to bring back that same spark he once had, but I just can't find it. And I'm exhausted from trying. If I'm going to expend all this energy, I'd rather do it on something that isn't a lost cause. I'd rather spend it on my campaign, well, our campaign since you've just agreed to join me." Reagan grinned. "We have a lot of work to do. Ms Greenwood from Level Eight has agreed to be my campaign manager and Samantha from Level One has joined as my Speech Writer and Head of Research. We'll all be working closely together on this campaign. In fact, Egypt and Samantha are currently in Samantha's office on Level One, discussing possible locations for our headquarters. Perhaps you'd like to join their discussion? I will be up there shortly, but first I must send a few memos out on Minister Cooper's behalf." |
Ben grinned and stood from his chair. "That sounds like a plan, Miss Taylor. I'll head down there in a few minutes...first I need to lock up my office and put up a notice letting my employees know that I've stepped away for a while," he informed her. "I can't wait to get started--Egypt and Samantha are working alongside us? Sounds fascinating!" he added with genuine excitement. |
"Lovely! If you need me, I'll be in my office writing up those memos. Thank you again for agreeing to join this campaign. Your support means a lot to me. If you have any fantastic ideas for getting the word out there, I'd love to hear them." Reagan gave a most sincere smile before shaking Ben's hand and heading out the door. |
Ben nodded and waved goodbye as Reagan left the office. Once the door was closed behind her, he locked up his filing cabinet and grabbed his wand. He gave it a quick wave and a small little square appeared in thin air. He opened his door and stepped into the threshold, sticking the small notice on the door. The sign read: Quote:
|
Sighing quietly as she reflected on her behaviour in Brian's office, Rebecca walked down the corridor and got to Ben's door, straightening her white blouse and black trousers, she was about to knock, but she saw the note "Great! I finally get the time, and he's out" Rebecca frowned "Well, I'll stay around for about five minutes or so.. maybe he'll come back" Rebecca said to the floor as she leant on the wall, her wand was in her pocket, so there was no hurry for anything at all. |
Ben walked down the hallway towards his office from the lifts, having just been to Headquarters to deal with the planning of the campaign. He had gotten so caught up in trying to manage Taylor's campaign that he completely forgot that he had an actual job at the Ministry that needed tending to. As he approached his door, he looked down to see Rebecca leaning against the wall, obviously waiting for him to return. "Oh, Rebecca, how lovely to see you again," he said with a smile. He remembered her clearly enough--she was the one who had started flirting with Brian while Ben and Samantha were still in the room. EEEEEEEK! Awkwarddddddddd! "What brings you here?" he asked, ripping the old notice off of his door as he flicked his wand from his pocket, unlocking the door in a single wave. |

A snowy white owl suddenly flies into the room, heading for the Department Head's desk and dropping off the following message - http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...eira/PARrr.jpg |
Katy nervously walked out of the lift, and down the corridor. She stood in front of her destination, the office of Ben Cobblesten. She was nervous to meet the Department Head, but they had already corresponded over a private owl once before, however Katy wanted to introduce herself as the new liason formally. She knocked on the door, and awaited a response, still going over all the things the Minister had told her to accomplish. |
Ben had been sitting at his desk, thumbing through old paperwork and trying to figure out what he could recycle, and was important enough for him to keep. He head a knock at the door and he glanced up, looking at the closed door before calling "Come in!" and going back to his work. |
Katy heard the voice of the department head call her in, so she took a deep breath and put what was hopefully a look of confidence on her face and entered the room. She saw Ben Cobbleten working diligently at his desk. Katy smiled at him and ventured, "Hello, Mr. Cobbleten! I'm Katy Weston, the new liason between your department and the Minister! I sent you an owl earlier, and I really appriciated your response! First off, I just wanted to say that I am really looking forward to meeting with you and getting to know you sir! But the Minister assigned me the task of finding out what each of your divisions are up to, and she also said you're the one who knows all this information!" Katy stopped her speech and resumed a polite smile. She had rehearsed this several times before reporting due to her nerves. She then awaited his response. |
Ben looked up and grinned, putting his paperwork aside when he saw that it was the new Liasion who was assigned to their department. Excellent! "Hello there Katy! Please, take a seat," he said, offering her one of the plush, navy blue armchairs in front of his desk. "Such a pleasure to meet you in person!" He flicked his wand and a pot of tea started floating over lazily to him from the sideboard. "Would you care for a cup of tea?" he asked her. He blushed. The Minister had said that? Reagan was so nice! He'd have to send her an origami flower basket later in congratulations. Who wanted real flowers that could die when they could get PAPER ones? "So, where would you like me to begin?" he asked. |
Katy relaxed somewhat once she saw how friendly Mr. Cobblesen was. She smiled back at him and sat in the blue armchair upon his request. She began, " Sure, a cup of tea would be great!" Her mouth was suddenly extremely dry. "Well I just need to know what's all happening in your department! The Minister needs to know what each division is working on so she's on top of things, with just being elected and all. I must say, I think she will do a wonderful job! So what's the buzz in your Department?" said Katy with a laugh. |
Ben smiled and poured Katy a cup of tea before scooting it across the desk in her direction. With another flick of his wand he conjured up a small coaster for her to put the cup on--no need for rings on his desk, now! "Well," he sighed. "I suppose I should start with my Experimental Charms office. We had a small explosion a few weeks ago that resulted in the destruction of part of that office. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, and I have maintenance on the way to fix up the walls and such--that's pretty much the only thing wrong with the office still. Oh, and the smell of burnt carpet," he added, wrinkling his nose in distaste. Blehhhh. |
Katy thanked Ben for the tea then listened attentively as he explained the situation, she responded, "Well I'm glad everything is okay now! I suppose I'll get to smell that burnt carpet first hand, I have to make my way to that office after this! And how about the other divisions, those are doing alright?" asked Katy. "Oh, and thank you so much for meeting with me, Mr. Cobblesen, I think we'll get along great! I can tell the Minister thinks highly of you! I just have one more question also. I was looking at the list of employees in your office, and I noticed that some of the Divisions didn't have division heads? I was just wondering if you have filled those positions, because I need to contact those individuals to introduce myself." Katy listened to herself speak to her superior and hoped she sounded friendly enough. She was normally one to joke around, however being new and needing to get things accomplished she figured that part of their relationship would come as time passed. |
Ben nodded. "Yes, we do have three divisions in need of a division head at the moment. Unfortunately I have yet to fill the positions, but we do have applications open at this time, so I'm hoping we'll be able to get them filled in a week or two," he explained with a grin. "Once I get them filled, I shall notify you right away," he said with a head nodd. "I'll just send a memo down to your office--I like to make them into origami figurines, to make them a little more enjoyable," he added with a wink. "As for the other divisions they're all pretty quiet at the moment. My Accidental Magic Reversal Squad is working on reversing the spell cast on these flowers--it was a flowerpot that caused the explosion in Experimental Charms, you see, and after that the flowers inside starting ATTACKING people--but other than that, we're all kind of quiet. I'm focusing on my division heads at the moment. I don't want to load my employees up on a TON of work when they have no one there to guide them." "I have my two division heads, Abigail Weather and Freya Bok, watching over the empty offices until I can fill those positions," he added. He didn't want Taylor to think that he didn't have anyone covering those spots! |
Katy nodded her head and smiled. She really liked her new boss, friendly yet still gets the job done. She replied, "It sounds like you've got everything under control then! And, as a matter of coincidence, I also like origami! I've been making them since I was a little kid! But I had a thought, I know you said the situation was caused by an exploding flower pot...do we know if this flower pot was placed here in foul play or if it was a mere accident?" |
He clapped his hands together in excitement. YAY someone else liked origami too! "Origami DOES seem to brighten everything up, doesn't it?" he asked, looking up at the origami swans hanging from the ceiling. Ben tapped his chin in thought at her question. "I don't believe that the pot was sent here because of foul play, because a name and address was attached to the parcel so we could send it back to them once we got it fixed. If it was indeed sent by a criminal, it was probably a very stupid criminal," he said with a grin. "I've actually heard of this sort of thing happening in rare cases to misfunctioning magical items...you're never really prepared for it though!" |
Katy smiled, glad things were going well, "Yes, it really does brighten things up! You're really good at it too, much better than me! Well, thanks alot for meeting with me! You were a big help! It sounds like everything is under control here! I'll be seeing you soon I'm sure!" Katy took one final sip of her tea and stood, preparing to leave the room. |
A snowy white owl appears and before flying off, delivers the following message - Quote:
|
*whistles innocently* "Come on, Lima Bean," Abigail Weather whispered to her friend as she snuck down the hallway towards Ben's office with a cake in her hands. She has been planning this day with Lima for a while now and she was ready to throw Ben Cobblesten a PARTY! Was today his real birthday? Probably not. She was just assuming today was her boss' birthday since she honestly didn't know and she didn't want to ask, because he might suspect a party coming on if she asked him. She stealthy looked around the area as she arrived at Ben's office door, making sure nobody was near. She didn't want anyone ruining this surprise! Holding the cake with one hand, she knocked on the door and took a step back. Hopefully, Ben was in his office. |
She couldn't help but roll her eyes at her friend as she stealthily made her way over to Ben's office. Really. They just had to give him a cake. And he probably wasn't even anywhere near this place. He was probably off somewhere being a good Department Head. Er, not that she would say that to Abs of course. Seeing that the woman was banking on him being in there. "Just don't drop the thing." Ben wouldn't like cake all over the floor in front of his office. |
Ben was not in a very good mood today. Usually he didn't care about his age too much, but when he woke up this morning and realized that he was FOURTY, as in 4-0, he was not very happy at all. He was now divorced and single and FOURTY! Who wanted to date a fourty year old divorcee? No one, that was the answer. He was at his desk in his office, flipping through employee files when he heard a knock at the door. Hmmm, who could that be? A messager coming to inform him that he was an old grandpa now? He would not be surprised. Sighing, he got up from behind his desk and opened to door to find Abigail and Lima standing out there. Abby was holding an elaborately decorated cake in front of him, and suddenly he felt all happy and bouncy inside. They had remembered! And that cake looked so YUMMY! "Oh my--what a surprise!" he exclaimed with a grin. "You remembered it was today? How thoughtful!" |
WHOA. It was actually his birthday today? It was pretty freaky seeing as she didn't remember ever hearing when his birthday was. Not that she would let him know that. "Of course we remembered," she replied with a wide smile and a tone that suggested that he had been silly to think that they had forgotten. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Now lets eat some cake. |
Abigail tilted her head and looked towards Lima. "I'm not going to drop it," she exclaimed. "I'm capable of holding a cake without dropping it." She rolled her eyes, then turned her attention back to the door. Oh, wait! She almost forgot to light the candles on the cake. Still holding the cake with one hand (AND making sure she wouldn't drop it), she pulled her wand out of her side pocket and pointed it at the 4 candles that were scattered around the cake. She muttered a little spell and each candle lite up. Yay! As soon as she placed her wand back in her pocket, the door in front of her opened. You remembered it was today? was the only thing that her brain comprehended. Wait...TODAY WAS HIS BIRTHDAY. Keeping her jaw from dropping, she nodded her head. He looked happy, why would she ruin his happiness and say they just guessed today was his birthday? "Of course we remembered today was your birthday," she told Ben. She paused for a moment and then added, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEN!" Hehe. |
Cat shuffled through the hallway to her new boss' office. Biting her lip and chanting what to say, she opened the door a crack and looked through, to see some people there who was offering him some cake. Thank Merlin she was right about his birthday. Sighing with relief, she opened the door fully and sucked in a breath as the heads swirled to see her near the door. |
Erm...right..it's still his birthday! :D "You're all so sweet," Ben said with a smile. "Come inside and we can eat up!" he exclaimed. He walked over to his desk and pulled out a fork and a gigantic knife--hey, a guy had the urge to eat in his office every once in a while, ok? As he was cutting up the cake muggle style, he noticed someone walk in. Hmm, wasn't that a new employee? "Come on in!" he said to the new girl. The more the merrier! "Who might you be?" he asked with interest. |
Dora sent up a memo that played the Hapy Birthday tune when opened and set off fireworks also. It read: Quote:

"Your present." she said, and added, "getting older, huh boss?" Then she composed herself, straightening up. "Nice to meet you everyone, my name is Catastrophe Kerr and an employee here." 'Duh! Of course you work here stupid!' Catastrophe whispered in her head as she faked a grin. |
Katy made her way to Ben's office, she needed to find out what was going on in level 3 and she figured she may as well start at the top. She had always liked Ben, and was very happy with her placement as liason to his department. She hoped he would understand her long absence...never again would she mix lack of sleep and lazy spellwork, however she was now quite familiar with St. Mungo's. She knocked on the door to his office and awaited a reply. |
I'm late! Sowwy xD Quote:
Ben looked up when he heard a knock on the door, and quickly wandered over to the door to open it, rather than just yelling for whoever it was to come in. "Ahh, Katy! Good to see you again!" he said happily, grinning when he saw that his liasion was at the door. He opened it wider so that she could wander into the office. "Come on in and have a seat. Cup of tea?" he asked, pointing to the kettle that was floating in midair next to his desk. |

"I'm sorry I have been absent from the department for so long, I took ill and had a long recovery at St. Mungo's. However, now, I'm feeling up to par except I am sadly behind in work at the Ministry! Is there anything important that I missed recently with the World Cup or anything else?" |

"I'm so glad you're back, though--and I'm all ready to fill you in on what is going on," he said with a grin, leaning back in his chair and folding his arm. "Bascially, my Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee, Invisibility Task Force AND Experimental Charms Committee are all finished with their tasks for the cup. Experimental Charms and the Task Force are waiting for the construction of the pitch to progress a bit more, so they can go to the site and place the protective spells and charms they've created on the field and surronding area." he explained. |

She shifted in her chair and took a sip out of her tea, "I was recently given the tickets for the Quidditch World Cup that are for sale for 5 galleons a piece. I was told to distribute some to you so you could help circulate the tickets in our department. The only thing is, I need a list of all the people who purchase these tickets for the big drawing we will be having for box seats for somebody's entire family!" She handed a stack of tickets to Ben: http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...qwcrafaa-1.jpg |

"I'm actually thinking of having a meeting in the near future, and I'll bring it up as one of the points," he explained, making a note on a nearby piece of parchment of what he wanted to cover. Unfortunately, some of the stuff on there was NOT very positive but, it had to be addressed ASAP. "Is there anything else you needed to know?" he asked Katy with a smile. |
