It would certainly be invaluable experience for them… as well as very interesting. Nicoli shuddered as Nathan spoke up. That was not something he was expecting. Not good. He would have to stay on guard. Let nothing surprise him. Nicoli turned in his seat slightly and smirked a little when he realized Nathan had been behind the door. If he'd been a criminal, Nicoli would have been dead. "I'm sorry I didn't see you before," he said him, returning the smile. "The knapsack will be good evidence, I think. As will the questioning if I can get anything out of good 'ol Floyd." At the sound of music, Nicoli turned back to the old man, who seemed to be humming happily. Nicoli's brow furrowed, he hoped to be able to join into the song. Perhaps then he would be able to catch the attention of the old man. Flooing was obviously ignoring him, and interrupting whatever trip down memory lane wouldn't help. If anything, going with this might get him some information. So Nicoli sat, and swayed slightly with the tune the old man hummed, back on his face, was an expression of utter concentration. It was like he was trying to bore into the man's mind. |

Nathan nodded, “No worries.” He handed the knapsack to Nicoli. He wasn’t sure if the man would want to examine the evidence here… or somewhere away from Flooing. He fell silent again and returned to his spot where he continued to lean against the wall, listening to Nicoli as he began questioning Floyd.

| SS Senile Senior Floyd heard his name mentioned. He didn’t like it when people talked about, especially young people. They had no manners. Why would they want to talk about him, anyway. He wasn’t an interesting sort of person. Now, Adeline, she was interesting…and beautiful….and danced light as a feather….Adeline…
Opening his eyes, he noticed there were people that he didn’t recognize. Why were they all here? His eyes drifted over to the young lady. For a second he thought, but no, it wasn’t Adeline. She had beautiful hair like Adeline, and a smile that lit up the room. Oh yes, he’d seen her when he was eating at the Raven’s Claw. There was something else…something he couldn’t put his finger on. Then he noticed his knapsack. How dare that young man steal his knapsack. ‘Hey…you…young man. Give me back my knapsack. How dare you steal that from me. Didn’t your mother teach you right from wrong?’ Trying to stand up, he realized that his hands were bound, making it difficult. He tried to lunge for the kid, but the table was in the way. Reaching his hands out, he said, ‘Now, get these off me and give me back my knapsack. You keep your hands off Adeline. She’s mine, do you hear me…MINE!’
His eyes went back to the young lady, so like Adeline... Holding up his bound hands once again, he implored her, ‘Please help me. Why are you doing this to me. I haven’t done anything to any of you. I just want my Adeline. Please...’ |

| Yeahhh, Mr White! Yeah science! “Calm down Mr Flooing.” Nathan replied calmly. He was taken aback by the sudden change in the man’s behaviour. Perhaps it was a bad idea bringing what looked like his worldly possessions in here – but Nicoli may need his knapsack to use in the questioning of the old man.
He frowned and took a couple of steps back as the man stood up and attempted to lunge at him. Who was Adeline? It appeared that he was getting Amelia confused with her. He looked at her with a bewildered expression. Flooing really was nuts. He watched as the man then started to beg Amelia to help him. He gaze dropped to the floor – he felt sick to the stomach – this was horrible. Flooing needed medical help, not an audience… and this questioning was only causing the poor old man stress.

No one is trying to take Adeline from you. She is safe. You are safe. Please, take a seat. I'm afraid, we have to take your knapsack sir. I'm sorry, but we must." Nicoli breathed out very slowly, calming his nerves.
He decided to try again, "Mr.Flooing, my name is Nicoli." He stared imploringly at the old man, his hands at his side. Nicoli turned slightly, "Nathan, I think you should give the evidence to Amelia. It might calm him." Nicoli's face was reassuring. If he could get the man to calm down. It would all be alright. Turning back to the old man, Nicoli smiled warmly and conjured a mug of steaming hot coco for the old man, and set it down in front of Floyd. "Please, sit," he said, gesturing to the chair behind the old man. "Tell me...please, tell me about Adeline."

He picked up the knapsack which was now on the floor by Nicoli and handed it to Amelia. He met her eyes and gave her an almost apologetic look. “Alright?” he whispered. She must have been feeling the same way as him surely. Nate was beginning to think he wasn’t cut out for the MLES.
His eyes flickered back to Flooing as he started wailing. He was distressed, but Nicoli was doing well getting anything at all out of him.

There was obviously more to this that they had originally thought. Amelia felt a sinking feeling in her stomach, it felt awful to just sit there and watch him plead with her, his eyes boaring into hers. It felt uncomfortable, but she knew that they had to be professional, not only to get the job done, but for Flooing's own good. Quote:

It was out of love and loneliness. It was amazing how many people set such store for these emotions yet underestimate them so much. Quote:

Amelia took hold of the knapsack from Nathan and caught his eyes. There was a sadness to them that she felt too. She gave him a short warm smile as if to say, 'we'll get through this', and then held the pack close to her. "Mr Flooing we want to help and get to the bottom of this as best we can, but we need your help. Adeline sounds like an amazing woman, could you tell me more about her?" Amelia asked, taking a seat with Nicoli, handling the knapsack gently so Flooing could see she was doing so with respect. It was something that her father had taught her and it always stuck with her. It doesn't matter what they have done, whilst in custody, they are our guests so treat them with respect.

"Where did Adeline go, Floyd?" Nicoli said, putting a subtlety of excitement and curiosity in his voice to see if he would respond. The man was incredibly sick, the way he spoke was along the lines of a very young child. As though he was telling them a secret.
So. It was for revenge. It was all because he lost the woman he loved. But he decided on revenge, though it couldn't have been helped. He was mentally unstable, maybe he knew where he would end up, Askaban or St.Mungos.
He tried not to waver, he had to get as much out of him as he could. Somehow, he thought that Syd would be a bit too impatient with the man. It was going to take time of course. It always did. Usually, though, he dealt with sane people. Quote:

If anything, if he did, it might set him off again. Instead, he took his arms off the table to make space for her, but did not break his graze. Nicoli tried to keep his features as reassuring as humanly possible. Flooing had to remain comfortable, calm, and he had to feel safe. |

Amelia saw Flooing reach for knapsack and held onto it extra tight. "Mr Flooing," she said gentling, trying to bring him back to the conversation, "Adeline was taken to St Mungos, wasn't she? How did she come to be there?" She knew this was a loaded question with the possibility of three things happening: one: his sense would come back to them and he would talk, two: he would clam up and refuse to say anything or three: he would get angry and blame them and the ministry for everything.
But surely it was better than just sitting here watching a confused old man.

But surely it was better than just sitting here watching a confused old man. Nicoli gave Amelia a side-ways glance as Flooing reached out to her. She knew he couldn't have it. Good. And even better, Amelia too had seen the possibility of St.Mungos. After all, it was in the notes Dmitry had given them. Though this was most likely true, Flooing didn't seem to like the memory of it. And never spoke it's name, making it hard to guess how he would react when spoken to about it. He didn't think the man knew why Adeline went there either. If he did, he wouldn't have gone so mad.
"Mr. Flooing..." he said trying to break the man out his trance and get a piece of information he could use, "Do you know what Adeline's last name is?" If indeed she was at St.Mungos, in some kind of intensive ward, he could find out about her. He could help Flooing a little bit. At any rate, that's where he'll be going. In his state of mind though, the healers would have to be careful. All Floyd Flooing thought of now was revenge. occ: Sorry about the absence, internet problems |

| ll Achmed's 2nd Keeper ll Team Jacob l l Otaku ll Nicoli waited for all of about five minutes before he realized the old man's eyes were closed. He sighed, bringing his hands to his face. The old man wasn't being helpful at all. He didn't want to do it, but he had to admit defeat. "Amelia," he said his voice somewhat flat, "I'm afraid I have to ask you to lead Mr.Flooing to one of the cells. He'll have to await trail, and what I've seen here, he's definitely going to St.Mungos. Unfortunately, we can't send him there now, he'll have to be in a cell."
Nicoli removed his hands and looked at Amelia reassuringly. "I'll take his bag," he said standing up and lifted the bag off the table. As a second thought, he offered his hand to help her up as well. He smiled at her once again before turning to Nathan, to whom he gave the same look.
"The two of us have the lovely task of returning to inspect the evidence before we file it away," he said knowing full well that this might push Nathan to drink more than a bottle of pop later on, or in fact, in five minutes. "Then perhaps we can all get on to a less...grey case." With that he smiled at them both and left the room. He had to find something about this Adeline, what happened to her that could have done this to him? |

| Yeahhh, Mr White! Yeah science! Nathan felt like a bit of a spare part just standing there as Nicoli and Amelia attempted to question Flooing. The man had gone very quiet again. He looked over at him, he had his eyes closed again - it seemed he was asleep this time. Ah well, he must have been pretty relaxed there to have nodded off. His changeable behaviour and mood swings were a classic sign of mental illness. Poor bloke - But it was certain that he would be going to St Mungo’s, where he would no doubt be treated well. He would have a roof over his head, a bed and regular meals… not a bad result for Floyd really.
He nodded as Nicoli spoke. “Of course.” He replied. Grey was a very good description of the current case. He gave Nicoli a small smile before he left with the evidence. He looked back at Amelia, “You need a hand moving him?” Nate was sure Flooing wouldn’t hurt Amelia as he seemed to have her confused with this Adeline. But it was best to be safe as his behaviour thus far had been rather unpredictable.

| SS Senile Senior Floyd awoke with a start. It only took a couple seconds for him to figure out where he was. So, he'd been caught at last. In a way, he was glad, because he was tired. Tired of living without his Adeline. 'My wife's last name was Flooing, of course. Adeline Flooing. She was sent to St Mungos almost 6 years ago. She died within weeks. The said she was "unbalanced" which is preposterous. She was the most wonderful person in the world. The Ministry did this to her...those people in the Dept of Mysteries. They did something to her, but they never told me what they did. They just shipped her off to St Mungos.
After she died, nothing much mattered. I lost my job, our home. All I have left of her is a photo album, her hairbrush and a couple ribbons. They are in that knapsack. That's all I want from it...you can have the rest.
I know what I did was wrong, but I wanted them to feel what it's like to have somebody taken from you. At least the people I sent there could just turn around and leave. Not my poor Adeline. They killed here and they didn't have the courtesy to tell me what happened.'
Floyd rose to his feet, prepared to follow. |

Amelia smiled as she tilted her head a little. " Thanks, but I think we'll be alright, " then she added in an undertone "You'll hear me yell if I need help," knowing she could summon half the ministry with the set of lungs she had on her when she needed to use them.
Amelia stood there, stunned at the sudden compliance of Flooing. It was a sad story, but still, not a reason to do the things he had been doing. It was quite heartbreaking to see the defeated look on his face.
She glanced at Nicoli, before gently placing a hand of Flooing's shoulder and said "Floyd, "I'll take you somewhere you can go and rest. OK? We'll get you something to eat and drink on the way if you want."
As she led him out of the door and towards the cells, her mind started to turn, wondering what the Department of Mysteries did to his wife, and just what they did there in gerneral. She gave the others a nod to signal she got this and she would see them in the office shortly.

| Yeahhh, Mr White! Yeah science! Amelia was a tough cookie – he was sure she could look after herself but he also knew she had her wand handy if necessary. “If you’re sure.” He nodded and gave her a weak smile.
He turned back as Mr Flooing suddenly opened up and told them about what had happened to his wife. It was a heartbreaking story. He thought of Egypt and how he would feel if something like this happened to her, and then quickly buried that thought – it was unbearable to even contemplate.
He nodded towards Amelia as she guided the old man out of the room - she was so lovely with him. He sighed and followed them out the door and watched them disappear down the corridor before scratching the back of his head uncomfortably and making his way back to the MLES office. There was evidence to go through and they would need to try and get to the bottom of what happened within the Department of Mysteries.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Alexis Ducky Boge Sixth Year | With a faint pop Aaron and the suspect arrived safely at the detention center. Leading the suspect down the corridor Aaron found an empty room and told the suspect to enter it, Aaron then removed the ropes from the man and asked him to take a seat in the chair with chains, Aaron waited wand ready as the Suspect took his time sitting down. Once the man was seated and the chains had bound him Aaron asked "Would you like anything to drink, while we wait?" |

| ll Achmed's 2nd Keeper ll Team Jacob l l Otaku ll Nicoli opened the door to the cubicle and regarded Aaron and their "old" man with a calculating gaze. Questioning time. Suddenly he realized there was someone else in the room as he spoke. Wasn't he one of the new employees? Nicoli was almost entirely sure of it. "The meeting room? Or do you mean the Break Room?" he asked the man trying to remember the name on the file he'd read. "I'm sorry son, I don't understand the facts. Draconis, is it? Who and where are you talking about?" Nicoli couldn't deal with this at the moment. He had enough jobs already. If this kid didn't know what he was talking about, he'll end up further behind than he already was. If anything, he was talking as though he had no business in the division. Maybe he didn't know that Nicoli was the one who was supposed to give out assignments and orders. |

He sat back, holding his head high and offered him a cool smile. We're all friends here-- or could be. You've got the wrong guy. He thought these emotions toward Nicoli, hoping to convince him of his innocence merely by the power of influential thought. It couldn't hurt.

. Aaron looked at the man with one eyebrow raised, did he think this was a tea shop? "we have earl grey and peppermint, that's all." Aaron flicked his wand and a warm cup of earl grey tea appeared in a paper cup, Aaron slid the cup over to the man, Hoping he would start to feel comfortable soon, Comfortable people are more likely to slip up. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Former Professor Valon Kazimeriz Graduated | Kool-Aid, Oh Yeah! | | SS Mischief Maker Earl Grey or Peppermint? In a paper cup, no less. Gah. Now Gonoph knew he was in jail. Heathens.
He glanced at the cup and the first thing that ran through his head was one word:Veritaerum. He pushed the cup away. "No, thank you. I'll wait until I leave this place. Which should be soon, I daresay. I'm personal friends with the minister of magic, having helped him with a balding spot some years ago. He'll be quite distressed to hear of your treatment of me, I assure you." A small lie in a good cause... He'd met the minister once, at a fundraiser, but their conversation consisted of a shaking of hands, nothing more. But perhaps that would make them a little easier on him, or let him go earlier. It was worth a try...
