If you have something you would like to display, please show us in this thread. We would love to see anything that has been keeping you happy and healthy during this time.
Whether it is an image that you couldn't wait to colour in the Colouring Cave or a jigsaw puzzle that you have completed. Perhaps, you did some crafts with your children and it made you smile, or if you doodled on a scrap of paper and like the design that you ended with or even if you followed a recipe or tutorial that you found over in the resources thread.
A lot of you know that I'm a high school art teacher and, as schools are closed in my state, we've moved to fully online classes. It's been quite an adjustment so far but I'm doing my best to still provide inspiring and engaging art projects for my students.
In one of my classes, we're doing some art journaling with some prompts relevant to this time in our lives and materials they can find at home. I might share some of the examples I'm creating for them here too.
I kind of feel like I should have been journaling and creating more art during this whole process as it's going into my sixth week of being at home, but I'm also trying to not dwell on preconceived notions of what I should be doing and remembering that not only am I busy enough with working from home and taking care of my home and family, but that we all cope with things differently. I'm doing all that I can right now and that is fine.
So I created an art journal specifically for this class. I've made a few of these, but I wanted to create a step by step instruction of this in case any of my students wanted to try it. I have the instructions in a google doc if anyone would like to try it too. The class normally focuses on creating art with found objects and unconventional materials, and this journal was made from a cereal box and handmade paper.
SPOILER!!:
This first entry was prompted by the view outside a window and I painted with tea - a very, very strong cup of tea lol. It was very experimental, using a household liquid, but I think it has an interesting effect. And I used some fine tip markers to add line to the imagery as well as writing out some thoughts.
SPOILER!!:

Hey, folks! I usually work on pretty big cross stitch patterns, but something I've enjoyed doing during this time is 'mini projects' that can be finished in just a couple of sittings. There are a number of free patterns online - I've posted links to where I found these.

Hi!
I have been colouring while watching disney movies to pass time while Richie has been working and I haven't been doing the usual jobs like cleaning/shopping/etc.
I have posted up the original blanks of these images in the Colouring Cave thread under Prince & Princesses and they were originally posted by Disneyland Paris' facebook page. However, I couldn't pass up colouring them myself in as they were stunning.

Alright, so I made something for my friend's birthday earlier this month, and we did a no-contact pickup, and it was her idea but I thought it was hilarious and so timely, lol.
Click the pictures under the spoiler tag to see them and all the imperfections in bigger form eehehehe. Sorry if you already saw these pics.
SPOILER!!: Holy crap, you're old!
The cupcakes are strawberry with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream and Wilton candy eyeballs. The cake is three layers of chocolate cake with strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream in between each layer, and then frosted on the outside with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. I made it look like TP using a cake comb from Ateco (it has little ridges along the side of it for scraping). I had to do this all just using the limited ingredients I had on hand so I'm really relieved it worked out per my friend's request. I've never made a novelty dessert before and this one was stressing me out big time, lol.
The cupcakes look like they're in a standoff because they're not staying 6 feet away from each other. Ah, #quarantinejokes

For those of you who don't know, I'm an elementary school teacher. We won't be going back to school this year, which means I never got to say goodbye to those 26 kids I shared 3/4 of a school year with.
Anyway, I wrote a poem to express my feelings and posted it on Facebook. When I woke up the next morning, a news station had gotten a hold of it and put it on their Facebook page (our channel 4 here in the New Orleans area). It was shared quite a lot (in my opinion, at least). It made me super happy, because I hoped parents and children alike read this and realized how much the students are missed! Anyway, I wanted to share it with you!
-----
To my students, from your teacher, on the day I realized we won’t get our goodbye:
I thought about you today, and the memory brought a smile.
I still remember your faces and laughs, although it’s been a while.
The classroom is just as we left it, and your desks are all in place.
But no one is there to disturb the dust or fill up an empty space.
There are crayons left to color with, and there are stories left to tell.
There are math problems left to figure out, and there are words left to spell.
There was much more I wanted to teach you. We had so much left to do!
But on the eve of April the thirteenth, I found out that we were through.
“This can’t be!” my heart seemed to shout. “Our time can’t end this way!”
“Is there something else that I can do? Something more that I can say?”
Then I thought about you once again, and my heart knew just what to do.
I thought about the things you’ve given to me, and the things I’ve given to you.
You see, each time a student leaves our room, a piece of them will always stay.
It’s a laugh, a smile, or even a hug. It’s just something that brightened our day!
There’s a big adventure just waiting for you beyond our classroom door!
Remember I’ll always have faith in you, and I’m confident you will soar!

So, I've always had the love for colouring even though I was never quite good at it. I have a ton of Superhero colouring books but for some reason, I fell out of the habit of the activity. Anyway, I was inspired by Tori to take up my Crayola Twistables and wooden coloured pencils again There are a few things you should know though:
1. Some of the colouring may look off because I may start off pressing extra hard on the pencils but after a moment, I'd loose the momentum and begin colouring lightly.
2. I don't necessarily like colouring things in their standard colours. Example- I may colour Harry Potter's hair red. I believe colouring should be about using one's creativity and imagination; not necessarily sticking to the colours we are accustomed to seeing things in.
Below is the first of what I've completed. I've decided to give it to one of my co-workers whose birthday is in a few days as she adores it

I love everything that you guys have posted!!! <3
RoTo - I need you to make a 30th quarantine cake XD
Anna - I saw this on Facebook and its incredible <3 proud friend over here.
Ali - that's beautiful!!! So glad I could make the love on to someone else.
I have spent about four... almost five hours colouring this piece over yesterday and today. It's a little mental. It isn't 100% perfect and I think the "M" looks like pepperoni pizza... but it makes me smile and I hope it makes some of you smile too.

Ugh I'm so nervous about sharing things I make but I received some feedback on my project and the prof is going to use it as an example for future classes SO I guess it's good.

I made some more cakes.
The pastel Lucky Charms one is technically from before quarantine, but it influenced my design on the second one, which is not visible at all, because I junked it up when I was putting the fruit filling in, and long story short......
SPOILER!!: I learned today that I will never do this professionally. XD

a friend's birthday cake I made around March 1;
it's a piñata cake,
which means the center is hollow and
(in this case)
filled with Lucky Charms marshmallows
which i bought in a bag off Amazon
because I'm not THAT crazy to like pick them outta box of CEREAL
c'mon geez
SO. That was the inspiration, my friends. here's the reality LOL.
ummmm this cake was supposed to have an ombre sunrise effect
(I'd even drawn it with my pen in my notes ughhhhhh)
of yellow (lemon) SMBC fading into pinkish red (strawberry) SMBC
or even a watercolor effect like the cake above,
but! well! did you know curd is slippery?????? and WILL cause a cakeslide?
what she got was what she got and she should be grateful
this was good though;
lemony layers with almond SMBC
and strawberry curd filling
and freeze-dried strawberry powder SMBC on the exteriorrr.
I also candied the lemons on top.
And used leftover lemon cc ABC for the swirl.
And the strawberries u see are old, but hey, my nieces will eat almost anything.
THE END.
