With that creature thing gone, Cora turned her attention to boss man appearing in the lab holding a newspaper. What now? Had the Daily Prophet somehow gotten word of this already?? She raised an eyebrow and waited until Derek was done reading it before snatching it from him. "Let me see that."

She read over the article quickly, relieved that it didn't seem to be about the lab. Yet there was a lab mentioned in it, and that crups had escaped from it. That surely wasn't this lab. Cora was pretty sure Derek didn't keep those in here. So why did he come all this way to have them read it?

"Do you think that's somehow related to what happened here?" she asked, offering the newspaper to Jade to read if she wanted.

Jade smiled her thanks as she took the clipping from Cora. A few words jumped out at her: Creatures Rights Activists. Nine crups and several other unidentified beasts.

She looked up and said to Aron, "Why are we only learning about this now? I mean, shouldn't have MLE said something? Especially because of the explosion."

Aron watched as the...whatever it was left the lab and was rather thankful for it. Now he could focus on his employees and this article and....

Yes, good point Jade. Aron furrowed his brow slightly and rubbed the back of his neck. "I reckon with the transition of Ministers and all that there is a serious breakdown in communication," he grumbled. After all, someone from the Minister's office hadn't know he had liaisons assigned and that they had been there for YEARS. "Important thing is we know now and that we act fast." Alright? Was it a load of dragon dung that they seemed to have found things out last? Yes. But nothing to do about it now.

He then looked to his other employees that seemed to be in the same garden as him. "Glad you all think the same," he said with a firm nod. "I'm going to go speak with Environmental about this. Meanwhile you all should get to work on your new assignments."

He took another glance around the lab. Seriously, WHY him? Hmmm?

"Someone should be here within the next few days to repair this mess."

Derek merely looked at his destroyed lab again as Cora snatched the newspaper from him. His brain still working miles per hour, but no thought really made much sense. The young man couldn't help but wish the only lab disaster would have taken place in that other mentioned lab and that his lab would've been left alone. What did he ever do? They didn't even keep live creatures in there for a long period of time, whenever they did keep them there, which was RARELY. Did those activists know that?

Wait, what was he thinking? Derek was already accusing those random activists of being envolved in his lab destruction. Well, he made no sense right now. Blame the madness that was going on on their first day back! Merlin, the Ministry of Magic felt like Hogwarts right now ~~what with all the crazy and unsafe stuff happening~~.

Anyhow, Derek was about to continue his ~~moping~~ stroll around his lab when his boss went 'Someone should be here within the next few days to repair this mess.'

Riiiight, that made Derek stop dead in his tracks. EYE TWITCH. He turned around to look at Aron again. "Sir, I would prefer if I were here when these other people.... came." Derek was trying to keep his eye from twitching again. Merlin, that was hard. It has been a while since he's had to deal with that stupid twitch! Urgh, it was BACK. Great.

Of course, he would have said I am cleaning this mess myself, thank you very much, but Aron was the boss and Derek did follow orders. He also supposed he himself should work on those things assigned for his Team. Though... though... "Maybe I can stay after-hours to clean this.... myself," he added almost carefully, shocked he had been bold enough to say such a thing. "sir." Asdfghjkl.

Aron was about to dismiss himself to head back to his office when Derek spoke to him. Ah yes. He had figured that Derek would say something like this. The lab was like the man's baby after all. "Of course," he said while pinching the bridge of his nose. "As the department's Lab Technician you have every right to supervise and assist the maintenance team when they arrive. In fact, I would prefer that you do to make sure nothing else gets screwed up." Merlin forbid something ELSE went wrong in here on his watch. "No after hours work though. Keep everything on the clock."

And was the bloke alright? The eye twitch was...unsettling. Lab people were so OCD about people touching their stuff.

Glancing around the lab once again, Aron's eyes settled on Derek. "I'll even send a memo to the department head now to let her know that her employees are to answer to you." Alright? Now stop with the eye twitch, man!

Armand walked into the lab to take a look around. It was fairly standard, if not outdated. The very thought made him testy. He would rather bring his work home and use his own lab. With a sigh he checked all supplies available, as well as the cleanliness of the area. So far, so good. He knew he would have to meet with the other employees under him, but it wasn't particularly sociable at the moment. Not that he ever seemed so unless he was being polite. Going back to the supplies he looked them over once more. They seemed... disorderly. But then again, he and Slade had their own system of organization. Glancing about, he began carefully reorganizing the shelves so that he could be more efficient with getting what he needed.

Once he was satisfied, he made his way to the main work areas.

Derek entered his ~~beloved and perfectly organized~~ lab and immediately froze.

What....

What..........

What. Was. That?

What.

The 28 year-old started breathing heavily, not sure he wanted to keep calm at the moment. Was there any REASON to keep calm anyway?? NO. People had touched HIS precious lab and moved things around. MOVE THINGS. AROUND.

RUDE.

Who did they think they were to touch HIS things and MOVE THEM?

Merlin, he could kill someone right now. Of just strangle them for a while. That could do, too.

Without re-organizing anything, Derek dashed off to the main work areas to find ~~and kill~~ whoever had done that!

Armand made his way into the lab, pocketing the potion he had picked up when he went to meet Derek in the first place. Though, he did start thinking of ways of trapping Derek so they they could talk freely. Well, almost freely. He would have to get to know this man, after all, and be able to be on civil enough terms with him that they could cooperate. To be honest, he hated the man's stubbornness- It's not the stubbornness you hate, it's the- Not to mention being mouthy- Come on, Armand. Don't kid yourself. You know what it is. The man was far too emotional and rash for this kind of work. That's right. You don't hate anything that's similar to me, do you? What's dissimilar is what is angering you, whether you show it or not.

Alright, quiet you. I do need to talk to him, and commentary will be unnecessary.

Looking down at a couple of vials he had in his hands, Derek walked into his lab. He was having an okay-day, so he casually lifted his head only to see........

Him.

Derek's green eyes immediately narrowed and a deep frown formed on his forehead. He could actually feel his blood starting to boil as he glared at the 'supervisor' and tightened the grip on the vials he was holding.

What did he want now?? Hadn't he messed up Derek's lab enough?? The Erikson person looked suspicious..... and Derek did not like that one bit. Especially for the fact they were in HIS lab at the moment, and he preferred not having to deal with suspicious-looking people in there. Or anywhere else, for that matter, but particularly in his lab.

He preferred his lab to be always empty, actually. No people at all but him. That was always the best scenario.

But the Erikson person was there. Probably trying to do some of his 'supervisor' duties, or whatever. If only Derek could kick him out for good...

He stepped forward, no real demeanor present. Where a man's most emotionless expression still proved to be human, he had no signs of being so. His social mannerisms were gone. His eyes seemed to flash from navy to ice blue for the barest of moments. The most that Derek could get from the man, if he was even paying attention, was that he was being analyzed. He stood there just long enough to begin talking before Derek could do a thing.

"Mr. Meriwether, things are changing. You will have to accept that much. I was told you haven't had a supervisor until now, and that has given you an incredible amount of freedom, I am sure. It has also allowed you to become territorial. Territorialism is for animals, not the civilized. Rather, when you're ready to speak to me about how our lab is to be run, we should do so. Obviously, my system does not work for you. It is simply more efficient for me. But as we will have to work closely together, disturbing your methodologies would only counteract my own efficacy. You can have the lab arranged however you please. I am obviously more adaptable than you, and so, I'll learn your system for your sake. However, the lab is far too necessary for the department to have to deal with your animistic tendencies."

He actually didn't care whether or not Derek was willing to work with him, but if Derek was going to be a pain in his backside, he would do the same.

A moldy aroma begins to fill the space. There is no smoke or any discoloration in the air. Just a terrible smell like someone had forgotten to take the trash out for months. The stench seemed centralized on one of the counters. More specifically, it seems to be coming from the laboratory heating and drying ovens that have mysteriously stopped working.

If you open their doors, you will find that all the samples within have been ruined. All of that research gone to waste. Pity.

Armand rushed to the source of the smell, getting worried. Opening the doors, he found samples of something that were obviously no longer a useful product. He frowned at this as he pulled one of the samples out. "What in the world?" He looked around. Derek would never do this. He didn't know the man well, but he knew enough that the man wasn't the type to sabotage work. They should have seen someone coming. They should have noticed something sooner.

"Derek! Derek, what were these? Does this pertain to Mutant X?" If it did, someone likely created the thing, and didn't want anyone finding out who did it. Some sort of infiltrator?

Given that the lifts were still not functioning, Charles had to climb down from level four using the staircase. No big deal. Except that in his hands, the lanky, bird-like man was carting around what looked like a huge slab of wood. To be specific, it was the bottom half of a door. His department head's door, to be precise. And they had draped over it a loose plastic covering, so it was really very hazy as to what the man was carrying.

Why they had given this job to probably the thinnest man in the Division, he had no idea. But Charles had accepted the task with a smile, which had since faded in exhaustion and frustration. It wasn't easy carrying around half of a wooden door-- a quality wooden door. And at the bottom was a startling rift of what appeared to be the evidence of gnawing. Harmony said that they were expecting the door on Level Three, and since almost every other employee was occupied at other parts of the Ministry, well... Better late than never. It wasn't his own fault, and so he wasn't worried.

But by the time the spindly Irishman had reached the Level Three lab, his fingers were aching from gripping the awkward bulk, and he could have used a drink of water, and his shoulders were killing him. But he was happy to help.

He coughed against the strange and bothersome odor that seemed to be coming from the lab and knocked on the doorframe after cautiously opening the door.

"Excuse me?" The Irishman called in.

Who could he trust? At most, Derek, as he would never allow this to happen to the lab. He warded the area where the samples were to keep unintended eyes from prying. "May I help you?"

So much for having a peaceful work environment. Ugh.

Derek didn't exchange many words with his 'supervisor' because... because he didn't like talking, that's why. There were loads of things he would've said if only he didn't care about talking his head off. But he did care, so he didn't say much. Or anything at all, for that matter.

Keeping his problems to himself, as always. And how he would 'get along' with his 'supervisor' only time would tell. Or he simply wouldn't, because Derek would avoid him as much as possible. If ONLY he weren't in HIS lab all the time! UGH!

And now this stupid smell and a random bloke with half a door at the door. Derek was frowning and his nose was wrinkled because of the smell, but one could easily take his expression as of annoyance. They wouldn't be wrong either.

Yes, 'supervisor', those did pertain to Mutant X. Derek pursed his lips as he eyed the now ruined samples and felt his head burning as he was reminded of when his lab was completely destroyed. Why wouldn't people just LEAVE HIS FRICKING LAB ALONE???

The 28 year-old turned to the person at the door, almost giving him a glare and waited for him to tell them why he was is his lab with half a door.

Armand looked between the two and stepped forward. The answer was obvious. Something in his eyes flickered and he seemed to be watching something that neither of them could see. He thought about what his next action could be and then looked at Derek with a serious expression.

There was a wave through Derek's mind, not as if his mind was being invaded, but more as if he was having a vision of the future somehow.

Oh, the stranger chose to be quite this time, did he? Or maybe he was under the influence of the smell or something. Derek never knew how much resistent he had grown to odd lab smells, so maybe this was a strong enough smell to make people who weren't used to it to... feel fainty or act strange or even just be quiet, like that guy with half a door.

The suddenly his supervisor stepped forward and the weirdest thing happened. It was like Derek was watching a muggle film just before his eyes, though at the same time it seemed like he was in the film. The way he himself moved and shooed all of them out of the lab without really moving freaked him out.

When the... odd thing was over, Derek was quite disturbed and his expression easily showed that. What on EARTH had that been all about?? The formed Gryffindor stared right back at his supervisor, still trying to understand what the bloddy hell had just happened.

..........Aron trusted that man enough to have hired him... and he was his flipping supervisor after all...

So even though still looking very disturbed and being ~~somewhat~~ completely suspicious about everything that had just happened, Derek nooded and silently shooed them out of the room. He wouldn't say it, but he was a lot more worried about what had just happened than about that half-door or even the awful smell in the lab.

Walking into the lab, Aron was not surprised at all to see Derek and Armand present. What WAS surprising was the state of some of the equipment...and the samples.

"One of you please tell me that the records of those are still in tact," he said, pointing to the completely unusable samples. Even if the raw materials were gone, at least they should still have the paperwork on file. He walked over to the machine to inspect it when he noticed someone else was in the lab (KokoBandit). Had one of his employees granted the man authorization in here? Aron was ready to give him the boot.

Ug. His eyes were doing that thing again and, despite somewhat understanding what it all meant, it did not mean that Aron was any more comfortable with it all. But hey, at least the man had been honest with him during their discussion. Always a good thing.

Appreciating the ability to communicate with his employees with just a glance, he looked towards the Creatures employee and made a jab with his thumb at the door. "I'll be closing up the lab. Sorry for you making the trip up here for nothing."

And he made a mental note to ask Harmony why one of her people was up here in the first place.

With a flick of his wand, Aron locked the lab once everyone had exited.
